In this episode we are discussing the first half of our Summer holidays! Dale shares the details of his first family vacation as a family of 5 and Jessi checks in about her summer while back at work full time with both kids in daycare. There’s only a few weeks of Summer left before Liam & Jayci start kindergarten so Dale & Jessi share the final plans for the last few weeks of Summer with the kids! Be sure to connect with us and let us know what your end of summer plans are!

In this weeks episode we are going to dive deeper into Dale's life with his three beautiful children: Liam, Madison and Ethan.  In a very raw and vulnerable interview, Dale shares with us the timeline of becoming a father through to receiving not one but two special needs diagnosis for his children and what the future looks like.  Dale also opens up and share with us what a "typical day" looks like in his home and how he deals with 13 doctors and therapists and his schedule of 17 appointments every week.   

This week Dale & Jessi are discussing a challenge Jessi is currently facing in her home: Discipline.  Dale & Jessi compare some of the difficulties they are facing around this topic and share some of the strategies and consequences that are working with their children. They also share the struggles and boundaries they have had to set in regards to other people disciplining their children.

This week Dale & Jessi dive deeper into the Parenting 101 brand and Dale shares a really cool initiative he and his wife started out in Kelowna during the last cold and flu season.  We also discuss the African proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child”.  Is this still a thing?  Because many of us have noticed that “the village” seems to be disappearing.  Dale and Jessi share about who’s in their village and the struggles they face parenting without any extended family close by for support.

As we approach the end of the month, we chat about how Jessi's first month back at work as a full time working Mom is going.  Does she miss the kids?  Do the kids miss her?  What about the change in dress code?  And how has her schedule changed?  Speaking of schedules and the calendar, we were reminded that three of our kids had birthdays in June. Did we plan elaborate themes and activities?  Did we invite the entire neighborhood over?  And what's a Fiver?  We talk a bit about how those parties went... or didn't.  

Summer has officially arrived.  With it, new activities need to be planned, holidays occur, new routines and schedules emerge and meals planning changes with the season too.  This week Dale & Jessi discuss what the new summer season looks like in their respective homes and how they plan to make this summer the best one ever for their kids.  

In this week's episode, Dale & Jessi are chatting about Mother's Day vs Father's Day.  They will be breaking down the expectations, the gifts and dining experiences.  Along with dining in public with young kids comes the question, "Do you bring tablets along with you?"  Dale & Jessi keep the conversation flowing by discussing screen time, time limits and what a typical day looks like for them and their screens.  

Welcome to the very first episode of Parenting 101 with Dale & Jessi.  This week we are going to introduce ourselves and share a little bit about our background.  Who are we?  When did we meet?  And how did we end up as a full time working Mom and a stay at home Dad with five kids under the age of five between the both of us.
