Week Eight = The one where I go off the rails.
Week Eight = The one where I go off the rails. This week was my first week back into some serious training. Gym time and some decent miles each day really got my energy levels back up and I have my sites firmly focused on this weekend’s Marine Corps Historic Half. However, I do get sidetracked a bit and provide an unconvincing argument about why I should be the next Wolverine for future X-Men movies. It is an amazing display of how exercise can really get you hyped up in the morning, to an almost manic state. So please, listen as I lose my mind and have delusions of grandeur as I drive my way through traffic towards my big boy job where people have to put up with me in real time. For those of you who are new, I do record these installments during my commute to work. So I apologize for all the background noise and distractions you will hear. Turn signals. Honking horns. My inability to pronounce words correctly. I leave most warts and all untouched. OxenTales Episode 07 – The one that was late. (or, The one that went all geeky.)
Week Seven = The one that was late. (or, The one that went all geeky.) This week was all about being sick and being geeky. I've been battling a wicked cold whose clutches I cannot escape. Therefore, almost no training has been completed since the last installment but I was able to get to the gym for one day of lifting and it was glorious. However, all of my time has not been spent under the covers trying to get healthy. I did get out and have some GEEKY FUN. Free Comic Book Day and seeing Avengers: Age of Ultron kept my spirits high. I do provide a loosely developed review of Avengers and swoon over the new comic book store I found over the weekend. For those of you who are new, I do record these installments during my commute to work. So I apologize for all the background noise and distractions you will hear. Turn signals. Honking horns. My inability to pronounce words correctly. I leave most warts and all untouched. OxenTales Episode 6 – The one that did not exist
Week Six = The one that did not exist (or the one with the challenge.) This week was meant to have my very good friend Chris on to discuss his race at the New Jersey Marathon and his life as a runner. Unfortunately I did not set up the audio correctly and nothing that Chris said was recorded properly. It wasn't a complete loss because I did get to have a great 2 hour conversation with a dear friend. He and I have talked and we will figure things out and give it another shot in the near future. Maybe, this time, the guy who is an actual professional in the world of radio and voice work should do the recording. For those of you who are new, I do record these installments during my commute to work. So I apologize for all the background noise and distractions you will hear. Turn signals. Honking horns. My inability to pronounce words correctly. I leave most warts and all untouched. OxenTales Episode 5 – The one with the big race.
Week Five = The one about the race. It's all over! Last weekend was the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 miler and I had an AMAZING time. I talk about the fun I had, how amazed I was at the community of runners and about poop. Yep, poop. For those of you who are new, I do record these installments during my commute to work. So I apologize for all the background noise and distractions you will hear. Turn signals. Honking horns. My inability to pronounce words correctly. I leave most warts and all untouched. OxenTales Episode 4 – The one about the taper freak-out.
Week Four = One shot OxenTrot! The taper for my first ultra marathon is killing me and I was not ready to record anything this week. But I sucked it up and babbled straight the early part of my morning commute. So this recording has no ugly editing, but it does have all the other back ground noise. Turn signals. Honking horns. My inability to pronounce words correctly. I left worts and all untouched. This week I reflect on my training as I settle into my final week before the big 50 mile event. I provide an update on my taper freak out and readdress my goals for the big day.
