EP 72: Why Willpower Won't Work
We recorded this video for our coaching clients and are now sharing it for FREE with you all. We hope it helps!   You might be surprised to hear us say that willpower doesn't work. We were skeptical at first too! But as we dived deeper into this topic, we came to realize that willpower alone will not create long-lasting change. There has to be something more impactful and meaningful than simply your "will" to do, or not do something.    We provided this webinar for our Lifestyle members (our coaching clients) and had a tremendous response. Many clients were able to identify with the key points we talked about and realize that they hadn't fully committed themselves to their weightloss endeavors. Suddenly clients were willing to make themselves vulnerable and share with others close to them what they were trying to work towards. They were willing to put "skin in the game" for the first time, beyond paying for coaching, and really invest in themselves.    We hope this webinar resonates with you too!   -------------   Want to learn more about nutrition and how you can get in great shape without dieting or food restrictions?    Check out our nutrition certificate course here: https://courses.ownyoureating.com/cou...  Check out our nutrition coaching programs here: https://ownyoureating.com/nutrition-c...  LEARN MORE & FOLLOW US HERE: Website: ownyoureating.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ownyoureating/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OwnYourEating --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ownyoureating/support

FFT EP3 - Health Insurance Incentive Scheme
In today's FFT bonus episode, we discuss health insurance premiums and incentives. Do you think we should be incentivized to take better care of ourselves? There's no denying that working out and eating right does wonders for you body. In fact, we firmly believe it's what keeps us out of hospitals and doctor's offices more than most people. And yet, because the cost of healthcare is SO exorbitant, we pay for health insurance "just in case", god forbid, something truly awful does happen to either one of us.  Health insurance premiums are a colossal investment, on top of the cost of gym membership fees and eating good quality food and quite frankly we don't think it's right! We think the Government should do something about this and help incentivize others to take better care of themselves. What are your thoughts?   Other tangent topics discussed include: Teachers and teacher's pay The Great Hack - if you haven't seen it on Netflix yet, watch it! FFT EP 1 - Cultivating a Positive Mindset & Building Confidence
As part of our mission to bring you even more valuable content on all things related to leading a healthy lifestyle, this episode is the first in a new series under the Own Your Eating Podcast, called "Food for Thought". Or FFT for short. Each episode will be quick and to the point and probably under 20 minutes. The perfect length for you to enjoy while you stretch or have your quiet time on the throne. Hit us up if you have a conversation starter you'd love to hear our thoughts on!  Quickie Episode for you all about self-confidence and improving your perspective on your own self-worth.  "Imposter Syndrome" is common amongst coaches and educators. Particularly as a coach, often you might feel there is a discrepancy between "walking the walk" and "talking the talk". For example, you might believe you're a terrible runner like Jason, or be horrified by the thought of any workout with a barbell like Roz. But that doesn't preclude you from being an amazing coach with the ability to coach someone else effectively in these areas.  There's a fine balance to find when it comes to believing in yourself and simply putting on bravado. The "fake it till you make it" tactic will only get you so far. You have to believe in your own value and when you do, you will be able to genuinely portray your expertise. People are naturally attracted to authenticity and naturally skeptical of what might seem forced behavior.  As coaches and educators, we want to embody boldness without bravado, appear confident without appearing cocky and we want to reassure ourselves without creating delusion. Many of us are plagued with self-doubt and struggle to believe that we are uniquely awesome individuals despite the fact that we have many successes in life.  Do you have a roof over your head?  Are you surrounded by amazing friends? Do people show genuine attention to things you have to say?  Do you care about others? The point is, these things don't necessarily define us, but they can help point you to a conclusion that you are deserving of positive self-talk and confidence in yourself and your ability to achieve greatness. Listen in as Roz asks Jason how he cultivates confidence in spite of those voices inside his head trying to convince him otherwise.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ownyoureating/support

EP 63: Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs
We like to think that time, money or other people are standing in our way and stopping us from achieving everything we want. "I'd love to read more books, if only I had the time." "I wish I could travel more, I just don't have the money." " I'd spend more time on my own nutrition if I didn't have to think about the kids." The truth is, we all have a choice in everything we do. Saying yes to one thing, means you're saying no to something else. When you start to analyze your choices in this way you'll discover your own personal empowerment. Listen in and find out more about how Roz overcame some of her worst fears and beliefs and consequently found herself scaling volcanoes, falling in love and starting a new business!  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ownyoureating/support

Own Your Eating - EP 62 - The Foundations Challenge
Jason and longtime friend EC Synkowski have put together a "done for you" nutrition challenge. The Foundations Challenge combines tracking macros along with 800 grams of fruits and veggies, quality and quantity. "Running a successful nutrition challenge" Lead from the front - coaches need to be onboard. Even if you "don't agree" - be vulnerable, give something a shot, see what you learn. AND DO THROUGHOUT THE CHALLENGE! Engaged throughout the challenge - Engagement always dies off. How to combat? Active community and daily content from Jason and EC. Pick challenges that matter - don't get lost in the minutiae of micromanaging your life. Pick challenges that are "simple (relatively speaking) and focus on things that matter (quality, quantity, sleep, exercise, sleep) -- not cream in your coffee. Be organized! - If you want people to sign-up - it has to be a well-run product. From promotion to sign-ups, to information provided ... it has to be a professional "event" where people derive value. "End before they're done." Pick a length of time that you can do all of the above, and do it well. Don't let a challenge drag on for 12 weeks if the staff, content, team won't be engaged. Generally, 4-5 week challenges are recommended. What's included: Marketing materials, template emails, blog posts, flyers to drive challenge awareness and sign-ups Daily educational content in SugarWOD during the 5-week challenge (this includes a "4-day jumpstart period" to onramp members, and info on tips & tricks to be successful on the diet, and educational information about general nutrition trends (IF, keto, etc.) Leaderboarding and fist-bumping courtesy of the SugarWOD platform. Our intention was a plug-n-play system for an affiliate owner to run a great challenge without as much work.
