Episode 86: The Podcast Situation
This week in Personal BS, Michael thanks everyone who voted for his Drunk History, Stumble into History entry. Ali talks about frustration with the graduation application process at school. We wrap up with a brief story about our cat and a recent non-adventure she had.True Tale of Clinic Escorting is a little long this week, so buckle up.We round out the episode with a bunch of Arkansas stuff because we had to. Arkansas State Rep Justin Harris has been makingheadlinesfor the last week for "rehoming" children headopted. There are a lot of reallyweird and awfuldetails, but the worst part is that one of the girls he "rehomed" was sexually abused by the new "father" she was shunted to. But thereal victimshere are the Harrises, of course.This Week in Abortion is more Arkansas. In completely unsurprising news, the state is trying toforce doctorsto follow the extremely outdated FDA protocols for medication abortion. NPR has a good piece on this issueand how it's playing out in other states.

In this week's Personal BS, Michael gives a reminder about the Drunk History contest. Voting starts on Monday, February 23rd. Ali promotes Planned Parenthood's 3rd annual Arkansas Lobby Day, on Tuesday, February 24th.Ali has more True Tales of Clinic Escorting. It's pretty much same crap, different day, but we manage to wring out plenty of observations.We spend the second half of the episode bemoaning the stupidity that is the Arkansas State Legislature. Exhibit A: they passed an anti-anti-discrimination ordinance law. Sigh. Exhibit B: Idiot Rapert wants to nuke ISIS. Literally, he wants to launch a nuclear weapon at ISIS "strongholds". 'Cause protesters. After having it pointed out that this is completely unconstitutional, the town is kinda, sorta reconsidering.We wrap up with another story about religious persecution in Arkansas. Episode 75: S’mores Flavored Candy Corn
This week's Personal BS starts out with a reminder about the Kickstarter for Everything's OK: Ten Years After Fracking. Michael will be performing in a charity show on Wednesday, November 12, for the benefit of Arkansas' Children's Hospital. He also has a show in Memphis on Thursday the 20th, more details to come. Michael and Ali compare their approach to voter ID and compare and contrast the voting process in Arkansas and New York. Ali wraps up with True Tales of Clinic Escorting.This Week in Abortion: the Arizona Health Department steps way over its bounds and is called out by the ACLU.The results are in and most of them are bad. The good results in reproductive rights are: North Dakota and Colorado (for the 3rd time) rejected fetal personhood measures. The bad news in reproductive rights is: Tennessee's Amendment 1 passed. More good news in marijuana legislation: Oregon, Alaska, and DC passed legalization measures. In bad news: Florida's medical marijuana measure failed due to a super-majority requirement for Constitutional amendments.In Arkansas, it was pretty much all bad news.Thanks for listening!~ Ali and Michael
