Tick Safety with Expert Dr. Timothy McDermott
This week is an important topic for all outdoor enthusiast in Ohio.  Andrew was able to sit down and talk with Dr. Timothy McDermott of The Ohio State University, to discuss ticks in Ohio.  Over the past couple decades, the number of species of ticks has increased to the current day known number of 5.  Just a few years ago it was 1, then 2, and now 5!  Each carries slightly different attributes, disease, and issues for outdoorsmen and women, as well as live stock, wildlife, and more.  Paul just got home from his week long trip to Nashville for the National Wild Turkey Federation conference.  He recaps some of his favorite parts of the experience including the calling competitions, trade show, and more.  While Paul was deep in the turkey life, Andrew continues to try and figure out how to use a mouth call, and patiently waits to get to the woods for some whitetail shed hunting. Have a great week and enjoy!More info about Ticks in Ohio : https://ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/HYG-2073www.theo2podcast.comGoWild ProfileInstagram: @the.o2.podcastTwitter: @Ohiohunt

Whitetail Shed Heads Steve Sherk Jr
This week the guys have the privilege of talking with Steve Sherk Jr. of Sherk’s Guide service. If you are not familiar with Steve, his operation in north central PA, is quite impressive.  Years of following massive mountain bucks has given him the knowledge and skill to guide others to hunt these deer.  Steve shares with us some of his tips and tactics for finding and utilizing sheds for future hunting seasons. Paul is gearing up for his first NWTF show.  We are excited to hear about that in upcoming episodes. Andrew’s in still mourning the end of deer season, but pulled some stands down, and is looking forward to shed hunting.  The guys review Ohio’s 2021-2022 deer harvest numbers, Maple Syrup festivals, Deer hunting rule proposals, and how ice shanties lead to prostitution (because why wouldn’t it?). Enjoy!www.theo2podcast.comGoWild ProfileInstagram: @the.o2.podcastTwitter: @Ohiohunt

Turkey Tour Part 2 with Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project
The Turkey train is gaining momentum.  This week we talk to Dave Owens from the Pinhoti Project.  Paul has been amazed by Dave’s work for years, and he finally gets to talk to one of his mentors.  Dave is a turkey killing fool from down south.  Raised in Georgia, he now resides in Alabama, but hunts 80-90 days a year each spring chasing gobblers. The guys spent sometime this week at the Great American Outdoor Show as guests in the GoWild booth.  The experience was a blast, and they were able to meet members of GoWild, listeners, and new fans.  Thanks to everybody that stopped by the booth.  Seasons are closed for Deer, ducks, geese, and more.  The “slow” time of the year is near, but there is more to look forward too. ODNR added 86 Acres to North Turkeyfoot Wildlife area, and some of our state parks are now named after Bengal Players….?  Barf. Enjoy this weeks episode!!!www.theo2podcast.comGoWild ProfileInstagram: @the.o2.podcastTwitter: @Ohiohunt

Old Dog, New Tricks with Tony Peterson
You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, or can you? We’re barkin’ with the BIG DOG himself, Tony PetersonHe’s back!!!  Our first repeat guest, none other than the great Tony Peterson.  This time Tony is talking pups with us.  The holidays have just passed, a lot of people have new dogs that they are ready to start training.  Others are planning to use the “off season” for finding that new best friend.  Tony covers it all, and we are very grateful for his time and knowledge. Paul and Andrew have about a million and a half things going on.  For one, we are messing around with new equipment.  If the audio is off, bear with us, it will get better. A couple guys that grow grass for a living trying to figure out an audio board.  That’s comedic gold in itself.  The guys are headed to Harrisburg this weekend for the Great American Outdoors Show to hang out with the folks at GoWild, February 5/6 booth # 412.  Hope to see you there!www.theo2podcast.comGoWild ProfileInstagram: @the.o2.podcast Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

If You Don’t GoWild, You Don’t Know Brad
What a week it’s been for the crew, but for some of the wrong reasons.  Paul took a trip to the south, his parting gift was a helping of covid.  Andrew’s knee is repaired, but now on for a quick recovery.  Corey is…. Corey is….. no idea.  Around the state, ODW will be hiring 20 wildlife officers, and a lot of the hunting seasons are in full swing.  The heart of the talk is with Brad Luttrell from GoWild.  GoWild is an online social commerce platform, that offers some social media aspects, shopping, and connecting all of your hunting needs in one spot.  Brad gives us a look into the dark side of social media, and its dark, but also the upside of using different programs like GoWild. We discuss some of the recent topics from a rather loud industry voice. Buckeye Big Buck Club
This week’s episode focuses on the Ohio Buckeye Big Buck Club.  Jerry Weingart, the current president of the organization. The club was founded in 1957 to educate the public about trophy white tails in Ohio. Although the club focuses on trophy deer, the idea of conservation of the species is front and center as well.  Find more information at www.buckeyebigbuckclub.org  Paul and Andrew are back recording this week to give you the updates on Ohio’s gun week deer harvests, ducks coming in season, and more.  Paul has been working the family time on overdrive so that he can play in the marsh in the upcoming weeks.  Andrew’s is still searching for the deer with bone protruding from their heads, and Corey is MIA.  Thanks for listening!Instagram- @the.O2.podcastTwitter- @ohiohunt Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

Post Gun Season Deer Hunting with Tony Peterson
When you get the chance to talk with Tony Peterson, you do it.  This week Paul and Andrew got the chance to sit down with Tony Peterson to discuss how to approach deer hunting after the gun season has them rattled.  Tony is an absolute wealth of white tail knowledge.  We even cover some other thoughts around hunting and being a responsible adult.  The guys give a quick review of their weeks in the woods.  Andrew wrecked his truck, but still got out there to take a doe.  Paul took a spill in the woods, but found some good spots in the woods.  Corey was out in the PA big woods, but saw no deer.  He also got some quality tree sleeping in, so perhaps that’s why he saw no deer. Enjoy! Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry
This week’s episode focuses in on Justin Ross and Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. This organization works with local deer processors and food banks to help get needy families.  Justin goes through the history of the organization, current projects, fundraising, and providing food across Ohio.  Take a listen, and if you are able please look up Justin and FHFH online at, www.fhfh.org. As for the guys, the struggle continues.  Paul took his nephew out for youth gun season, but no success.  Paul reports concerning numbers, or lack there of, in the woods over the weekend.  Andrew, well he continues to battle the physical ability to get a buck on the ground, but it’s becoming a battle between the ears as well.  Corey did get out some, no success, but he was proud to tell us about how fashionable he looked in his perfect combination of clothes. Gun week is next week!  Good luck to all Ohio hunters.  Be safe, review your regulation books, and share with us your successes!!Instagram- @the.O2.podcastTwitter- @ohiohunt Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

The Ohio Deer Herd with Mike Tonkovich
The rut is in full swing, but the boys are swinging and missing. Corey spent an entire day away from his family to see 1 deer every 6.25 hours. Paul and Andrew made a trip to an OHLAP property. Beautiful property, bad hunters. Andrew was able to put some more meat in the freezer with another doe, because you know, who shoots does during the rut??? The expert today, is Mike Tonkovich, of the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Mike has been the state deer biologist for 26 years. The conversation only covers the tip of the ice berg in relation to white tail issues in the state of Ohio. Look for Mike again down the road where we can dive deep in to topics like CWD, Habitat, Herd Management and much more. Enjoy the conversation, and good luck in the woods! Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

The Rutting Dan Johnson
Things are heating up in the whitetail woods as this podcast was being recorded.  Somewhere in the state, a buck was trailing a doe and hopefully it was right under your tree stand.  For Corey, Paul, and Andrew, it wasn’t them. The guys share their updates for the week.  Corey works the kinks out of his climbing abilities, Paul is chasing birds (surprise), and Andrew spent time chasing birds and deer with no avail.  Such is the life of the mediocre hunter. We were honored to have the one and only, Dan Johnson on the podcast today.  Dan recently tagged out on an Iowa GIANT.  He shares with the crew tactics that he used to fill that tag, but more importantly looked to the upcoming weeks and what you should be doing to fill your tag.  Get out there and enjoy some 02 in the great state of Ohio!  Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

Flying High with Troy Fowler aka The Ranch Fairy
This week the crew discusses their Halloween Adventures, also known as Dad Life.  Paul rode a bear, Andrew is a chicken, and Corey just uses his natural fear factor to scare the children.  In the whitetail woods, things are heating up but nobody has connected with that buck yet.  News around the state is minimal but some small game species will open up on November 5.  If you’ve never heard of the Ranch Fairy, you need to use the google machine and find some of his content.  Troy Fowler, aka the Ranch Fairy, joins the guys to discuss some of his content regarding the heavy arrow debate.  Troy has a plethora of unique terms that he discusses with the guys, as well as some of the other intricacies to his work.  The topic of heavy arrows comes with a DEEP rabbit hole, but it’s an interesting discussion.  Hopefully this episode will give you something to think about, and perhaps something to try out next spring. Ohio Landowner Hunter Access Partnership
Today Paul and Andrew interview David Kohler of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife, to get you all the information you need about the OHLAP program.  David covers the benefits to the land owners as well as the hunters.  This program is designed to help hunters get access to hunt, and give the land owners a little incentive to share their natural resources with the public.  This is an AWESOME explanation of the program! Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

In-season Scouting with Parker McDonald
This week the guys spend some time talking with Parker McDonald of the Southern Ground Hunting Podcast.  Parker is a young, and very successful hunter out of Alabama.  The dude knows his stuff and can hunt deer with the best of them.  He was gracious enough to give us some insight on how he scouts public land in-season, as well as some of his rather outside the box approaches to getting to the deer. Parker’s discussion is what matters, but your average Joe hosts are getting in the groove. Old Man Paul turns 39 with a birthday bird.  Corey is working on some shoulder rehab while tinkering with new arrow set ups, and Andrew is on the board with his first 2 does of the year.  The weather in Ohio is currently wet, but drier cooler skies are on the way.  The state has it’s pheasant release’s set, small game just around the corner, and more info on the Land access program.   Ohio Outdoors is Powered by Simplecast

Deer Diaries with Mike Rex
This week, we are talking the update to the 2022 spring turkey season, upcoming seasons, Muskies and more.  Hunting in a thunderstorm? Corey’s still building his fence, and Paul’s impatiently waiting for his newest duck call. The meat and potatoes comes from our first interview with Mr. Mike Rex.  Mike is a legend in Ohio when it comes to harvesting big deer.  20 time qualifier for the Buckeye Big Buck Club amongst other accolades.  The time wasn’t long enough, but he brings a lot of knowledge in the short time we had. Ohio Outdoors is powered by Simple Cast.
