10- From Private Jets to Peeing Standing Up
~ From living like a queen in Thailand & ridding in private jets, to working on a farm in Zimbabwe - Brittany's life is anything but boring.~ In Thailand earning just $1,000 bucks a month she was afforded 3 massages a week and treated her friends to dinner like a true high roller. Later she said yes to a charming French man who offered the spare seat in his Toyota camping car.  Favorite Quotes: “Well there is an empty seat next to me.” “We have to live like children… A child lives with curiosity, excitement, and fearlessness. They think with their hearts.”  “If you travel slowly and wisely you can live on less.”  “If we live in France we would have to work just to eat.”  “Pace is something that if you’re in a couple you’re always working on.” “The key is the journey is the goal.”  Their Ride (sourced from wanderingfootsteps.com): A 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ75 with +600,000 kilometers (+372,823 miles) It's 19 feet long The Continents Visited Include: Africa, Asia, Europe, N. and S. 9- Learning to Tango in the South Pole Station
~ A custody battle, a kidnapping, and an introduction to Latin America that would forever change her life. ~ Lily’s background will shock you. She was kidnapped by her mom due to an ugly custody battle and taken to Mexico as a young child. While it was a hard to be on the run, learn a new language, and change aliases often she wouldn’t change a thing. Learn about what it’s like to work in the South Pole station, and how someone could truly come home and say they learned how to swing dance in Antartica.  Fouts shares the biggest struggle with life on the road: consistent interaction with friends and relationship building. In Episode 3 Gustav, the Modern Nomad, dives into great detail addressing this common problem and he has some great solutions. Favorite Quote:  “It was harder reintegrating in the US because we looked like everyone else but had watched different shows growing up… and were essentially Mexican. In Mexico we stood out so, if our behavior was a bit odd, it was just chalked out to us being foreigners.”   If you want to learn more about how to move, live, work, and retire in Ecuador read, Becoming an Expat: Ecuador   If you enjoyed this podcast please rate and review it in iTunes Resources: Third Culture Kids: Growing up Among Worlds Responsible Expatting- Blog Entry Finding a Furnished Apartment in Loja- Blog Entry Blog Entries Abou

"Their are four major concerns on the water: water, fuel, power, and weather. It's kinda' neat in that sense because once you get out there it's simple." 7- Sick in Cusco
I got sicker than I've even been the second I landed in Cusco, Peru (elevation near 12,000 ft). I had a doctor come to my hostel and after about two minutes talking to me and measuring the amount of oxygen in my blood he called for an ambulance. All in all, I was diagnosed with the flu, salmonella, pnemonia, strep throat, and severe altitude sickness. Listen to this episode to learn what it's like to be sick abroad. My Favorite Quotes From the Show "I would have stopped traveling a long time ago if I were just going to see the sites... it's all about the people, the networking, the interactions with people who otherwise you would have never come across had you not traveled.
