Well 2020 Part II is just as bad as the original! Well we have a winner and we have a loser.  The loser is Trump.  Trump lost and there isn't much he's going to be able to do about all of this other than drag it out as long a possible and while a large amount of people die of Covid.  Also and more importantly I touch on the story of Quwan Charles in Louisiana.  He was a 15 boy who was murdered the weekend of Halloween and  there have been no charges filed and not enough coverage  has happened to this case.  This country is crazy right now. This episode I talk about the murder of Walter Wallace Jr. in Philadelphia.  An election can't get attention if we are ignoring black men and woman dying in the streets.  This is the reason we are calling for the de funding of police.  This situation could have been handled differently with an outcome that didn't mean a man had to die.  This is the last episode before the election and I mean what I say at the end of the episode.  No matter what the election results are I am still here I am still fighting and we are still all in this together.  We can't give up after Tuesday.  Today was the last day of the PR contest did you tell me you were going to vote? Supreme Court justices, Covid, Debates, and the election in general and with everything going on in my normal lady life it has left me scrambling to get you all the news that you need.  I know that you expected an episode every week until the election but I just couldn't do life and podcasting at the same time.  So, this is my catch up episode.  I hope that I covered everything OK! Breonna Taylor's killers we thought got their day in court, but has we found out they really didn't they didn't even get tried for her murder.  There is a lot of cover up and wrong doing still going on in this case.  And, we should not and can not rest until we get down to the bottom of what this case really is and what is going on.  Also I know that it is a really scary time in Kentucky keep safe all of you that are still protesting I know there are some scary ass people that are walking around their saying they are keeping order and peace but they aren't.  They are looking to hurt people. Once again I am behind on the news.  I got to the part about the debate and the taxes, but HE GOT COVID IN THE MEAN TIME!!!! **Warning!!!*** I said in the news portion that Jacob Blake had died but he did not!  That was a big mistake on my part.  Jacob Blake is alive paralyzed but can speak.  Please read more about his shooting and I am sorry that I spread this miss information.    This episode is about fact checking and this election like no other is going to need a lot of fact checking because we really need to know who it is that we are voting for and against.  I was inspired to do this episode because of The Atlantic's article about Trump calling soldiers that died or had been hurt losers then saything the claim was fake even after he was fact checked by wait for it FOX NEWS!!    You have the rest of this month to register to vote.  Please go to Vote.Org find out if and how to register and where to go vote!! This week I'm talking about voter suppression and while I know that my own story of voter suppression means that it can happy to any one that is considered lower class too, but it happens disproportionately to Black people and to that mostly black men!  With the election coming just around the corner we all need to be aware of how difficult it is for a large amount of people in this country to vote and how much your vote actually accounts for a lot more than just yourself.  I talk about the book The Color of Law written by Richard Rothstein.  I didn't actually read this book yet Ben my husband did.  It is the next book on my list, but it a great way to learn more about the ways this country has tried and to a great level succeeded at suppressing black votes. Keep this in mind when thinking about voting this year!  Are you registered to vote?  Better get to it!! And, if you live in a state where voting by mail in a real option then you should go to vote.org to get everything worked out!  Go! Hi the title is exactly what it says.  I want to de-fund the police, but there are a lot of good reasons that you may not have thought of and what all those reasons could be if you haven't listened to the people of color demanding change and if you are all about the "Blue lIves" you should want the police to be de-funded too and you should be able to see how it will actually be the best thing for the police department and it's officers. We talk the News, but I didn't speak on the explosion in Lebanon, because at the time of recording this I did not know what caused this tragic event and I didn't want to give out false information.  Now that I am aware of what caused this and how many lives were lost and injured as soon as I record again I will speak on this event.  I am so sorry and my full heart is with the people of Lebanon.     Still need to register?  Go to Vote.Org!!! This week I am taking on Cultural appropriation vs appreciation.  It's a topic that a lot of white people not only have little understanding of, but it's something that they don't really want to understand either.    I know that one episode isn't enough to really take on the entire subject, but it is a good start for conversations.  And, that is how we start getting into some real change.  In the news I talk the crazy numbers for Covid last week and the giant bugger that is Florida.  I still don't understand why anyone would live there by choice by hey to each their own. We find out about the far-right's flop at Gettysburg and lastly we talk about why what happen at Mt. So, I have to first put a quick retraction on here.  ICE has not lost 30000 children it's 3000 but really it's too many any way.   There are different things on the show now it may sound like.  And where it might seem that way I feel like long time listeners will know that this change has been a long time coming.  The podcast has always had political undertones this is not something really new, but in this time where we are finally calling for civil justice it just seemed like it was right to change.  I have known for a year that the show was either going to end or make a complete left turn to being more news driven.  And, I would rather be commenting on what is going on socially then having the same conversations about make up and aging.  Black people are dying immigrants are being kept in cages.  There's no time for frilly talk to come out of my mouth and it's time for me to use the platform for change.  I am sure there is more that I can do and I am going to work on that with every spare minute that I can, but the first step is getting my voice out there.  I know that it may seem like I am changing for downloads, but when have I done anything just for the downloads?  Trust me bitch if that was what I was after I would have picked up true crime a long time ago. Also Covid is still real and needs to be talked about so that people can keep themselves safe.  I am going to talk about what our country is doing to keep up with this Illness.   I hope that you guys get a lot out of this episode and it starts a lot of important conversations, and next time we will pick up on white privilege and cultural appropriation.  We will also be talking about what's been in the news the rest of this month. I know I wasn't there last week for you guys like I should have been, but there comes a point where I think everyone needs a chance to regroup.  After seeing videos of cops pepper spraying children I needed to figure out what best to say while still giving space to black creators so they can get their message out first.  This isn't really an episode.  This is me just getting how I feel out there to encourage other women to reach out, because we can be the ones to cause change.  I am still encouraging people to donate money to Black Voices and the NAACP.  Also I suggest looking into the Trevor Project.  We need to stand with transwomen and Men right now more than ever.  Any where someone is dying or is in a cage because of the color of their skin or because they are living their true selves they need us.  Lets keep this conversation going: Tweeter: @Needsadult Instagram: @nickineedsanadult Email: Nicki.needs.an.adult@gmail.com     Also if you think dropping my five star rating will hurt me.  You're wrong.  I will keep talking about this until they take my mic away.
