End Credits Livestream
Hey! Well....um...haha here's the recording of the livestream that we did to cover the last couple seconds of the movie and the end credits. There are so many topics covered. Who wrote the lyrics? What of ceiling fans? Is there any fanfiction that Erin (who claims she didn't write it) could read on the air, what did we get each other for Christmas, an FMK, and like 3 announcements of things that are either well-established or even over by now. So....yeah! We had a great time on this show. Don't stop telling your Newsies loving friends about it! We love new listeners!

Black Lives Matter
Why is this audio file so long? The time from the last word of the statement to the last second of the track totals 8 minutes and 46 seconds. 8 minutes and 46 seconds doesn't sound like a long time until you are confronted with just how long it can drag on. 8 minutes and 46 seconds is how long it took to end George Floyd's life [https://www.8m46s.com]. At the Scavengers Network, we support the nationwide protests against police brutality; because Black Lives Matter. It is not enough to simply be “not racist”. You must be anti-racist. This is not a matter of “differing politics” nor is it something that is up for debate. This is about human and civil rights. We must make Black voices heard. Amplify and listen to Black voices. We have always been committed to using our platform to raise others up, and do what is right. Please, join us. Michael John Hughes Interview!
"Wait," you say. "I though Newsies Minute was over! They finished the movie! They did a whole livestream about it!" Well, that's true. But we weren't *entirely* done. We had one more interview to do. We got the chance to sit down with Michael John Hughes, who plays Romeo and Spot in the Arena Stage production of Newsies: The Musical: The Stage Version, and have a really interesting conversation about what it's like to come into the Newsies fandom from the other direction. Michael John is a lovely person and it was a really fun interview, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Minute 116: Newsie Style
In this, the final minute of the podcast proper (join us tomorrow night for the livestream where we'll cover the rest!), James's voice sounds like absolute trash. Pointy Pokey takes Jack's stuff back to the Boarding House, maybe?, Jack sees Skittery, David is a Newsie now (you can tell by the hat), Crutchie misunderstands, Sarah gets some, An Erin Mystery is Solved, and the process of what happens when a Newsie kisses someone is finally explained, James ruins the whole podcast and then he makes the same joke as he did in Minute 108, and finally, we discuss credits (actually weirdly opening credits) and specifically James Bond credits, and then we talk about Hunchback of Notre Dame, which James claims to have not seen, and he hadn't when we recorded, but now he has seen it (he did a newsletter about it for December on the Patreon!)

Michael Goorjian Interview!
A few months ago, we had the amazing opportunity to sit down with Michael Goorjian, who played Skittery in Newsies, and pick his brain about hanging out on set, creating character backstory, and making movies that aren't Newsies...technically. The audio on this one is a little bit rough, but the conversation is worth it. Thank you so, so much to Michael for taking the time to chat with us, and to our friend Katy for knowing that he's on Twitter and suggesting we reach out.

Minute 115: Second to Last
Jack gets out of a carriage. David is really a newsie now. Spoilers for M*A*S*H and season 1 of The Good Place.
11 minutes | Dec 4, 2019
Minute 114: Crutchy, Run!
The Jacobses are BEREFT. H.H. Holmes is NOT in this movie. Kid Blink is Skittery. Crutchy is Jack. What is happening.
13 minutes | Dec 3, 2019
Minute 113: Crutchy Needs No Soaking!
Some guys in the background are evil! We learn a thing about something we’ve assumed to be true all along. Mush(?) carries around Jack’s stuff.
10 minutes | Dec 2, 2019
Minute 112: Goodbye, Warden.
Crutchy gets out on his own. James spoils a very old Simpsons episode, and then confuses a joke. We’ve been operating under a false assumption for months.
9 minutes | Dec 1, 2019
Minute 111: There’s So Many People In the Croooooowwwwwwwwwddddd
Not a lot going on in this minute, everyone. There’s a crowd. It’s cheering. Denton does Jack a concern. We explore an alternate universe where Bill Pullman is acting better than we realize in most of his movies. Ten Pin returns! (Probably.)
16 minutes | Nov 29, 2019
Minute 110: World Newspaper for Governor
In this episode, Pulitzer goes through a wide range of emotions, a compromise is struck and then vastly overstated, then we basically outline Newsies: Aftermath, then Erin talks about a rabbit hole she fell down. Then James accurately predicts when the credits start.
14 minutes | Nov 28, 2019
Minute 109: Someuppance
In this episode, Seitz is a stand-up (and stand-still) guy, Pulitzer's hearing is investigated, Pulitzer is out of touch with the youths, we discover another Significant Other of Jack's, Medda is FINE, we figure out how many hours it was before Jack broke the deal, Jack gleans some information from one encounter, Erin "No But"'s James's amazing joke about Seitz as a hitman (she was right to do so), then we talk about coffee cake for a little bit. Then I imagine someone ELSE as a hitman. Then social media leads us to a discussion of date order in the United States vs date order in other countries (MOST other countries?), James continues his streak of talking about cutting things he doesn't end up cutting. Also examples of bonus bonus content.
12 minutes | Nov 27, 2019
Minute 108: Ugh, David
In this episode, LET THE GREAT DEBATE COMMENCE
13 minutes | Nov 26, 2019
Minute 107: Max(Casella)10
In this episode, we figure out who carries whom, Erin wins a math thing, Racetrack has a catchphrase(?), we consider some Newsies Minute merch, who is Papa Seitz disgruntled with?, The Decimator messes up a name and Kenny Ortega doesn't call cut, then he takes a swing at a joke and does it bad, and Jack aims for Max(casella)10 swagger
13 minutes | Nov 25, 2019
Minute 106: Newsiesiditidity(?)
In this episode, Luke Edwards is known for his ability to say "NO", THE TRIUMPH, James posits a theory, Erin SLAMS New York City (SLAM a la Finish It), The 3-part Boots Manifesto, Girls Still Want Rights, David looks dirty, possibly because of a fun-loving Inkfight, and finally, James makes a BAD JOKE/REF THAT MAKES NO SENSE, but I (James) couldn't cut it because it leads to the 5.5 minute discussion about protests, war, tv, pop culture messing up our headcanons of whent things happen, and John Lennon & Yoko Ono that consumes the rest of the show
17 minutes | Nov 21, 2019
Minute 105: It Was Fairly Successful
James tells us all about Teddy Roosevelt (you know, the guy from Newsies). Erin forgets the format of the show for about 9 minutes. We have no idea how there is as much of this movie left as there clearly is.
10 minutes | Nov 21, 2019
104: Brooklyn to Trenty, Our Man Denty?
Someone says Denton’s name, just, so strangely. James is still frustrated with Boots. A surprising number of boys are able to read in this movie.
9 minutes | Nov 19, 2019
Minute 103: "Teddy, I Need to Borrow a Horse."
What is the geography of the area around the World distribution center? James gets extremely frustrated with Boots. A cart is literally put before a horse.
24 minutes | Nov 18, 2019
Minute 102: Roll For Newspaper Printing
The newsies have to be very, very quiet while they do some very loud activities. Erin is baffled by some paper. Also, how does *time* work in the Piano Basement? Is Ben Franklin a ghost? James researches printing presses.
12 minutes | Nov 17, 2019
Minute 101: Sarcasm Is (Not?) a Good Look on You. Davy
Today’s minute ends so nicely it’s just *chef’s kiss*. David is a Tik-Tok star, and just so sarcastic. Denton is a big huge printing press nerd. James make a Spanish-American war joke, and we write a deleted scene.
