Ep. 9: Dr. Tom Coniglione, The Running Doctor
Dr. Tom Coniglione is a long time runner who has participated in dozens of marathons and halfs. He is a fixture in the local running community, and one of the most well known and beloved in our ranks. The reason is Dr. Tom selflessly gives his time to help other runners with the aches, pains, and injuries that come with the sport. Always seen with a big smile on his face and an encouraging word Dr. Tom truly cares about each and every runner he encounters. He has been the medical director for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon since its inception, and he oversees a very large staff on race day to care for the 20,000+ runners. His expertise and intuition when it comes to diagnosing and fixing running injuries are remarkable. I know, I was recently one of his patients. With some custom pads, a big pair of scissors, and a little duct tape Dr. Tom turned my shoe's insole into a custom orthotic that had me back out on the road running that same day. At 75 years old he is vibrant and healthy, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Dr. Tom is truly a gift to the Oklahoma City running community.

Ep. 8: Adi McAsland - the Yogi Runner
Adi is beastmode. All 5 ft, 100 lbs of her. Adi is an ultra distance runner, a yoga instructor, and a plant based bad ass that even surprises herself with what she is capable of. She recently had a huge 24 hour race that she only intended to be a tune-up for an upcoming 100 miler. I won't give it all away, but she did pretty damn good! Adi teaches yoga and has a passion for yoga geared towards athletes. Ep. 7: Darren Christiansen - The Grand Slam Of Ultrarunning & Choosing What Challenges Us
Western States 100 Vermont 100 Leadville 100 Wasatch 100 11 weeks 42 runners started this year. 13 finished. This is McKinney Texas' Darren Christiansen's story of running and completing the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning. Its the sort of feat that crazy runners think is crazy. 4 100 miles races through mountainous terrain at elevations that absolutely take your breath away. A flatlander, 44 year old, working father of 5 was able to take this challenge on and finish becoming one of only 315 runners to do so, and 1 of only 16 Texans. That is some elite company, and Darren can be considered an elite runner now. He would never say that because he is not the fastest guy on the trail. What he lacks in elite speed he makes up for in an elite mindset that has allowed Darren to be successful in these races. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much I did having it. Ep. 6 Phytopals - Our Love For Animals & Adopt Don't Shop
Why should we choose to adopt vs. shop? About 7.5 million animals end up in shelters in the United States each year. Of those 3.9 million are dogs, and 3.4 million are cats. Of those about 2.7 million animals will be euthanized. 2.7 million! That is a staggering number of animals that could end up in a loving home. My Phytopals (Kris, Emily, and Gina) sit down with me to discuss our love for our pets, and the tell the story of how our animals came into our lives. We sit down with Lisa Jensen from Oklahoma City based Safe Haven Animal Rescue to discuss what this organization does to get animals out of shelters and into loving homes. Microchip your pets! Spay and neuter your pets! Most of all love your pets and always give them a good home. http://www.rallyaroundthepits.com/ email@example.com

Ep. 5: Randy Titony - If You Eat What Other Americans Eat, You Will Get The Diseases Other Americans Get
We're back with Randy Titony of Plant Based OKC for Episode #5. Just the facts ma'am: In 50% of heart disease cases the first symptom is sudden death. Half of all men and 1/3 of all women in the US will get cancer. If you eat the same thing other Americans eat, you will get the same diseases other Americans get. There is a way to decrease your risk of these diseases. A way to live longer. A way to feel better. A way to have a far less impact on the environment. It starts with what's on your plate. Randy Titony dives right in to the benefits of a plant based diet, and what it has done for him. Randy spends his own time advocating eating and living this way getting only the satisfaction of helping others in return. He is a passionate, engaging, and knowledgeable guy that has educated himself on why this diet works. For more on Randy and Plant Based OKC check out their website plantbasedokc.com. Join us for Plant Pure Nation screening at the Harkins Theater in Bricktown on 9-24-15 at 7 pm, and a meet up at 5 pm at Bleu Garten for Mim's Bakery and Nosh before the show. Darren showed me what it truly takes to run 100 miles through the mountains. Join us later this month for the Oklahoma City screening of Plant Pure Nation Sept. 24th at 7pm at the Harkins Theater in Bricktown. Ep. 3: Dr. Jimmy Conway - Reversing Disease With A Plant Based Diet
This week New Normals Radio is back with an extended interview with Dr. Jimmy Conway of Plant Based OKC. Dr. Conway is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who in 2009 discovered that he had an 85% bloackage in one of his arteries. Instead of going the usual route of having his chest cracked open and having heart surgery Dr. Conway chose to switch to a plant based diet. He was able to completely reverse his syptoms and lose over 50 lbs along the way. Dr. Conway, his wife Andrea, and Randy Titony formed Plant Based OKC, and they use this as a way to advocate for a plant based diet in the heart (pun intended) of cattle country. They host a seminar that goes in depth on the benefits of eating this way and the science behind it. Episode 2 of New Normals Radio features a sit down with Sam & Emily Perry of Mim's Bakery & Nosh in Oklahoma City. First up is the Phytopals Roundtable discussion with Sam, Emily, Kaitlyn, Steven, and myself. We discuss what we think is the difference between being plant-based vs. vegan. If you are in Oklahoma City you have probably seen their big red trolley food truck out and about. Its hard to miss. Sam & Emily Perry of Mim's Bakery & Nosh talk about what was involved in starting their own business and how it has grown. So many of us out there dream of owning our own business and doing exactly what we want to do in life. The Perry's have done that, and they discuss the ups and downs of everything it entails. Also, where exactly did that giant red trolley come from, and how did they come up with the name "Mim's". Find out in this week's episode.
