However, the role of GLP-1 RA therapy continues to evolve and expands beyond glycemic control for these patients, and includes cardiorenal protective effects. Recently updated clinical practice guidelines now recommend treatment with GLP-1 RA therapy that has demonstrated benefit in cardiovascular risk reduction in all patients with T2D.
