Helping Your Parent Retire
Hi Everyone and welcome to Episode 6 of Money & Life. I am your host Angel Melgoza. There’s been a long wait between my last episode and this one. 2 ½ months to be exact. Those that follow me know the reason why and those who are starting to listen to Money & Life, I’ll share the good news. I am a first time father of a beautiful baby girl. She is now 2 ½ months and is starting to let me and her Mom sleep. So where is she right now? She is currently with her Grandma. Shout out to Grandma Myrna for giving me some free time to talk into this microphone and record this episode for your listening pleasure. Moving on to this week’s topic, HELPING YOUR PARENT RETIRE. This is a very near and dear topic to me being that I am not too far removed from helping my own Mom open up and talk about the future. I have to say, I had more mental hurdles talking to my Mom about retirement vs. talking to a client of mine because you spend most of your life listening to a parent give you advice and talk to you about the next stages of your life that it is a bit odd when the Role is reversed. For those wanting to help a parent retire soon, it's a short episode so listen in as you may find some insightful and useful tidbits of information .

On Episode 5 of Money & Life, I talk to local Entrepreneur and father to a recent UT Graduate, Markus Villareal about the later years of parenthood. We tackle some of the differences and financial preparations that come with raising a teen vs. an infant. I have to say that I was pretty blown away by some of the advice he gives me on my show. We talk about some of the essentials needed during the teen years, college, and my favorite, "funding your child's passion." So listen in, skip around, and hear some good tidbits about parenting and getting financially prepared for some spending in a child's teen years.

Parenthood: The Early Years (Infancy to Toddler)
Hi Everyone! Thank you for joining me on Episode 4 of Money & Life. As some of you know I am days away from becoming a Father to a beautiful baby girl so I thought, "why not ask some experts about the ins and outs of parenthood?" In this first part of the series, I talk to fellow Red Raider and friend Ramiro De Hoyos about the early years of parenthood. He is the father of a beautiful baby girl and has lots to say. We brush on the theme of being an older parent, needs vs. wants, budgeting, nesting, and the difference between the infant and toddler stages. Ramiro brings an interesting point of view in that he is self employed and some of the adjustments he and his wife had to make in welcoming their little one. So skip around and listen to some golden nuggets of advice from a first-hand expert. Thank you all for listening!

Top 10 Tips To Transition to Self-Employment
Hi Everyone, Thank you for joining me on Episode #3 of Money & Life. This week I had the pleasure of speaking with local entrepreneur, Christopher Wycoco of Wyco Tax and it was nothing short than amazing! He shares a passion for entrepreneurship and has seen growth in his business exponentially in the past few years. I met Chris a few years back when I started my business and admired his business tenacity. There comes a time in life when some of us start questioning if we should continue to work to build someone else's dream or work to build our own. Well Chris gets this question quite often. So who better to interview than the winner of the 2018 SBA Minority Small Business of The Year Award for tips on how to become self employed.
