This week was amazing! Some truly incredible films were watched and loved.  The highlights include Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samourai (1967), Danny Boyle's Sunshine (2007), and Alex Cox's Repo Man (1984).  I attmept to break down the minimalist elements of Melville's super cool French noir and place it in a broader spectrum of the French New Wave.  New segments take hold and I rant about craft beer...again.  Other films discussed: Fiend Without a Face (1958), First Man into Space (1959), Corridors of Blood (1959), Super Troopers 2 (2018), The Fog (1980), Deep Blue Sea (1999), Piranha (1978), Runaway (1984). This week is all about the Incredbles 2 (2018), nostalgia, the Hays Code, and Dames (1934).  I ponder the virtual vs. the real with regards to Pixar and Marvel. The Hays Code is brought up with its comparisons to the Busby Berekely's Dames. On this episode I discuss the fact that inadvertantly watched three prison movies and try to connect them with bubblegum and toothpicks.  Billy Wilder takes center stage as I talk about Stalag 17 (1953) and Witness for the Prosecution (1957).  The other prison movie just happens to be Two-Way Stretch (1960) starring Peter Sellers. Sellers makes another appearence in 1957's The Smallest Show on Earth as the drunken yet lovable projectionist Mr. Quill.  Other films that made their way through my eyes and into my brain this week are: Anon (2018), The Bribe (1949), Whisky Galore (1949), Across the Pacific (1942), 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957), and Hannie Caulder (1971).  I also enjoy a Hazy Little Thing from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.   Recorded June 1, 2018
