M72: Tour-Maubourg
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. One of our favourite producers of 2022 steps up with an exclusive 64 minutes of almost entirely unreleased material. Parisian producer @tour-maubourg has released an remarkable body of work in the past couple of years that connects the dots between his city's deep house and nu jazz heritage (e.g. St-Germain, Wuz, Cassius) and the contemporary jazz scene, where sumptuous 4/4 grooves and broken beats are laced with sweet vintage and analog synth solos and motifs. We predict the biggest things for him and are very happy to have him contribute to our long-running series. *How would you describe your sound?* I’m trying to produce modern music, mainly house, jazz, and dub related with an old school and warm feel. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* If I had to name three main influences it would be Ron Trent and Chez Damier, for their vision and reflection on pushing forward the sound. Basic channel for their exploration of texture and ambience. Their sound has a unique feel. Nicolas Jaar for his abilities to touch the masses with non pop music. His ability to make complexity simpler so that anyone can understand his music. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* I was very happy that it was only made out of my production. As I have tons of music I stick that will probably not be released, it’s a good way to take it out of my hard drive and give it a second life 🙏 Tracklist: Wayward - Bright (Tour-Maubourg sunset dub mix) (Silver Bear Recordings) Tour-Maubourg - Désillusions successives (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg - Give and take (emotions) (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg - Dub CR-78 (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg - Dub 002 (SHALL NOT FADE) Tour-Maubourg & Max Telaer - Nordic Trance (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg & KX9000 - Already say (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg & Bendrick - Mood to bump (UNRELEASED) George JJ Flores - Funk the future (Tour-Maubourg remix) Tour-Maubourg - Chicago memories (UNRELEASED) Tour-Maubourg - Everybody (UNRELEASED) Cosmonection - Odyssey (Tour-Maubourg remix) (PONT NEUF RECORDS) Tour-Maubourg - Abre los ojos (UNRELEASED) XXXX - XXXX (Tour-Maubourg & Saudade dub)

M71: Floyd Lavine
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. One of Berlin’s hottest properties Floyd Lavine takes the helm, mixing nothing but his own productions covering all corners of his refreshingly original deep, tribal, soulful, Afro palette.   *How would you describe your sound?*   I would describe my sound as an interpretation of African electronics - my approach is to capture what I call an Afrofuturist vision pushing the boundaries with an aim to expand the pallet of African electronic .    *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*    I’m an always on the lookout for new and inspiring ideas whether it’s music or just a great conversation. Life is inspiring enough on its own. My family, my friends and my fellow artists inspire me . Where I grew up and where I live currently brings a source of inspiration.   *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*   What I wanted to capture with this mix is a mood and journey that explores all parts of who I am as an artist and DJ. My sound is evolving but yet quite a unique take on electronic music. I have added original music from 8 years ago to modern stuff that I’ve done recently including from remixes to edits. I think the audience will have a sense of my style as producer and my vision as an Afro futurist. Tracklist: Darksidevinyl & Ucha - Zaiana (Floyd Lavine Remix)  Floyd Lavine - All the red  sheep - Original  Floyd Lavine & David Mayer - Sondela (Floyd Lavine Drum Version) KEENE feat Jacki Plummer - Why Do You Worry? (Floyd Lavine Remix)   Shimza Ft Maleh - Fight To Love (Floyd Lavine Remix)  Dylan S feat Vivian Olang - Jaber (Floyd Lavine Remix)  Floyd Lavine - Betiti  Floyd Lavine - My African Acid  Floyd Lavine - Mr Bones  Floyd Lavine - Masala (Jungle Boogie Mix)  Floyd Lavine feat. OlatunJi - ? (unreleased)  Floyd Lavine & Vanco - ? (unreleased)  Floyd Lavine & Elias (GER) feat. Liam Mockbridge - Raw Soul

M70: Roberto Rodriguez
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page.   Finnish genius Roberto Rodriguez might be one of the most underrated producers in the deeper end of house music. His consistently excellent output for the likes of Freerange Records, Compost Records, Plastic City and Poetry In Motion Records is always fresh, invigorating stuff which combines deep textures with grooves that are so expertly sculpted they're nigh-on impossible to sit still to. We're chuffed to have him contribute to our series at last, and to discover some of his absolute gems we missed in years gone by.   *How would you describe your sound?*   If I were to analyze my own sound I’d say it’s a culmination of all the musical influences I’ve gathered throughout my close to 47 years of existence. My music is always some sort of weird combination of techno, house, jungle, jazz, soul and disco influences. Most often my tracks end up in the Deep House sections in stores. In my tracks there’s always a certain bit of Scandinavian melancholy or bittersweet sadness. Even in the most uplifting tracks and remixes I’ve done over the years. :D. I’m a super positive and upbeat person so I don’t know where that bit comes from. Perhaps it’s the 10 months of yearly darkness here in the north which generates the melancholy. I’m not super into trends and I always aim for a timeless quality rather than a quick fix. Firstly I aim to please my own ears and produce music that makes me feel something. If the music moves me then there’s a high probability that others will be moved by it as well.    *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*    I listen to and get my inspiration from all music I hear. As much as I get inspired by the works of legends, i do get more inspired by new talent and new producers who break the rules and come up with something new and unique.   *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*   I was very pleased to be invited to the series and in taking this challenge of picking only my own productions for the mix. As emotional as it was to go through my tracks, It wasn't an easy task to narrow it down. In the end I decided to exclude all of my more disco Manolo stuff as well as all my other monikers and focus on my main RR output. The mix is sort of like Roberto Rodriguez in a nutshell. It features my house tracks that mean the most to me at this moment in time. Hope you’ll like the listening experience.    Tracklist: 01. Roberto Rodriguez - Sensible Jungle Tune 02. Roberto Rodriguez - Thought Experiment 03. Roberto Rodriguez - Thinking Of You 04. Roberto Rodriguez - Mother 05. Roberto Rodriguez - Pride 06. Shahrokh Sound Of K - Love Happens feat. Toyin Taylor (Roberto Rodriguez Remix) 07. Roberto Rodriguez - Giving It All 08. Roberto Rodriguez - Thank You 09. Roberto Rodriguez - Better Than Me 10. Lectroluv - Dream Drums (Roberto Rodriguez Remix) 11. Roberto Rodriguez - Lies feat. Max C 12. Roberto Rodriguez - Survive 13. Roberto Rodriguez - Besomebody

M69: Kid Fonque
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page.   One of South Africa's biggest house music producers and label owner of the formidable Stay True Sounds takes the reins of the Monologues Podcast for an hour of deep, soulful productions from his oeuvre.    *How would you describe your sound?* - Always soulful, very influenced by what surrounds me, which is a very enthusiastic South African deep house audience, a nod to the broken beat era with a heavy dose of deepness.   *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* - I have been in the dance music business here in SA for over 20 years and I am a fan of other artists music firstly, from Fka Mash, Zaki Ibrahim to Okmalumkoolkat and Jullian Gomes and everyone in between. It all somehow comes out in my own productions in my own way.   *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* - It's a showcase of my own productions and people that I love who have remixed my music, a lot of collabs and a proper showcase of what I represent as a DJ, label owner and producer. M68: Lukas Lyresteam
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. Swedish globetrotter Lukas Lyrestam has built up a steady catalogue of warm house jams infused with melodic '80s influences in recent years, through his own Clouded House imprint through to labels like Skint and Hardrock Striker's Skylax Records. With a tasty vocal in him too and a day job in sound design, he's quite the package and cooks up a lovely hour of his own productions for us that's constantly colourful and groove-laden. “How would you describe your sound?” OG house and classic 80s heaters with a touch of Scandi flair! Sultry vocals by yours truly.  "What and who inspires you and influences your sound?” Literally everything in the electronic spectrum tends to seep into my subconscious and makes its way into the music I make. Off the top of my head some favourites (and bench-marks of quality) are: Mood II Swing Johnny Jewel Joy Orbison Prince K-Hand (RIP

M67: Thrilogy
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. We're big fans of Bristol boy Thrilogy here at Monologues. With deep roots in the game, he produces a sound that combines house and garage with touches of jazz and heavier styles in effortless fashion, with a great ear for a hook and sweet melodies. Mixing nothing but his own productions, he's put together a joyous hour. *How would you describe your sound?* Thrilogy is organic, dusty, old record-sampling deep house and techno.  *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  Old US house/garage labels, seminal DJs. Nu Groove, Strictly Rhythm & Trax classics never leave the box; but also, an underlying influence and infatuation of cutting edge and bass from years of Bristol underground. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* When creating a mix of all your own tunes, they rarely go together, but I wholeheartedly enjoyed DJing them all nice and loud for you! It’s a mix of my favourite productions and a some new bits. Hope you enjoy. x Tracklist: THRILOGY - TONIGHT (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - THE HUSTLE (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - WOULD YOU PLEASE ME (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - EVANESCENCE (OMENA) THRILOGY - ARCTIC (WOLF MUSIC) THRILOGY - MAKE YOUR BODY (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - MY LOVE (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - HEAVEN (K98 REMIX) (WOLF MUSIC) THRILOGY - THE FATE (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY - REMEMBER THIS (FATE AND FICTION RECORDINGS) THRILOGY & JOSEPH COOK - SO MANY (WHITE)

M66: Joe Cleen
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. Disco edits, piano house belters and soulful house grooves from the German producer who has been making waves on labels like SlothBoogie and Jazz Cabbage. Unreleased material ahoy… *How would you describe your sound?* Always danceable, sometimes cheeky, mostly unpolished.  *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  The sudden impulse I get when I hear a certain sound or sample or melody, which leads the way then into the creative process. A very general thing I guess.  *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* So this is the very first mix I ever did that only consists of my own music (yeah..ok, there's like some edits, but you get what I mean).   I always found it super hard to integrate my own tracks into DJ mixes, never finding the right timing. The mere idea of compiling a mix of 100% home-baked goods was a bit stressful in the beginning, ngl. In the end I have to say I'm quite happy with the result as I feel there's a good flow in the tracklist. Tracklist: 1   Joe Cleen - Punk (unreleased demo) 2   Joe Cleen - Care While It Lasts (Jazz Cabbage) 3   Joe Cleen - Conga (SlothBoogie Editz) forthcoming 4   Joe Cleen - Show Me Your Dimension (Jazz Cabbage) 5   Joe Cleen - Chainsmoker (SlothBoogie) forthcoming 6   Joe Cleen - Pink (Jazz Cabbage) 7   Joe Cleen - Day In Day Out (SlothBoogie Editz) 8   Joe Cleen - Bathroom Break (SlothBoogie Editz) forthcoming 9   Joe Cleen - Give You All I Got (SlothBoogie Editz) 10 Joe Cleen - Every Little Thing (SlothBoogie Editz) forthcoming 11 Joe Cleen - The Fun Part (SlothBoogie Editz) 12 Joe Cleen - Morning Sugar (SlothBoogie Editz) forthcoming 13 Joe Cleen - Time For Love (SlothBoogie Editz) 14 Joe Cleen - Cosmic Sandwich (Jazz Cabbage) 15 Joe Cleen - So Long (SlothBoogie Editz) 16 Joe Cleen - Vagabundo (unreleased demo) 17 Joe Cleen - We Need (Jazz Cabbage) 18 Joe Cleen - You'll Make It Eventually (unreleased demo)

M65: The Robinson
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. It's pretty early days for Milanese duo The Robinson, but they captured our attention very quickly with their brilliant, sprawling tracks. On a Body & Soul tip, their production effortlessly combines with the organic and the synthetic, with many a dazzling synth sound relaying beautiful melodies and atmospheric touches. Futureboogie Records saw their potential, snapping up their 'Nightmares' EP and lacing it with a remix by none other than the legend Ron Trent. This mix comprises 100% unreleased material from their studio, and features three tracks that will form an EP for our label in mid-2021.    *How would you describe your sound?* Our sound is a mix between the underground Chicago House grooves and Italo House beats of the 90s. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  The main inspiration for our music comes from our regular daily life, which is often accompanied by the melodies of the greats: Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, Joe Claussel among others. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* This mix is the story of a journey from the countryside to the city, a journey we often take when coming home from visiting our parents.   Tracklist: 1- PEACEFUL FIELDS [forthcoming on Monologues Records] 2- GALAXY VORTEX 3- ACID SQUARE [forthcoming on Monologues Records] 4- IN MY MIND 5- ELECTRIC CITY  6- JUNGLE FEAR 7- ROMANTIC MADNESS 8- SPRINT AWAY 9- BUSKER SOUL 10- SPIRITUAL DANCE

M64: Jovonn
We're delighted to have New York house legend Jovonn mix our latest episode. Producing essential deep cuts since 1990, he counts hundreds of releases and has rarely faltered in the quality of his no-nonsense, hard-grooving output. He's put together a retrospective of his own recent and older material, showing his quality in using just a few ingredients to create an addictive track, with a smattering of quality vocals and seamless mixing. Jovonn, we love you! Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page.

M63: Coflo
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. Californian producer Coflo has been frequently catching our attention over the last year or so with his soulful, organic house jams. Receiving major support from Osunlade and his Yoruba Records family, his knack for expansive melody and warm groove puts him among the lineage of great American deep/soulful/afro house producers, and we're very happy to have him share his vision on our podcast. *How would you describe your sound?* To be honest, I don't think I have a sound. I make whatever I feel like making and I collaborate with whomever I make friends with and wants to do some creative ish'. People always want a box to genre-fy things. I tell people that I make American house music. I am an American just doing my tiny part to keep the beautiful sounds and dance of house music culture going. I tend to be drawn to sounds and ideas that are of the African diaspora — be it Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Cuban or Afro-American. The music I fell in love with, at its core, is black American music.  So that is what my sound is. I have a massive amount of pride in being raised in house music culture, and it feels good to share whatever "sound" comes out. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  The influence on what I make can change like the wind. So many different types of art inspire me to make music. I draw a lot of inspiration from movement arts and visual arts. I almost never start with a blank slate. Something always enters my mind's eye visually and then turns into sound eventually. I can easily cite two people for the influence on me continuing to create music. Those two people would be Ron Trent and Osunlade. Both of them have carved a path that many should feel blessed to walk on. Their dedication and longevity to something that is ultimately about people and the art is incredibly inspiring. I study all of their tunes intensely.  *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* Not really sure it means something profound to me. As this series is about sharing the producer/artists work, I just picked songs in the moment. A lot of what I do in art is improvised, be it dance or music etc. I have a huge back catalog of music and just about every song means something fairly profound to me. I make a lot of music and there are no favourites. I tried to pick tunes that may flow nicely together and touch on a range of ideas. I could easily put together a mix of my songs that have extremes, but it didn't feel fitting for just an hour long mix. To be sentimental, this mix does end with my first 12" single, 'Easy' with my close friend Lady C. Tracklist: Coflo - Beija-Flor [Catch The Ghost Records] Coflo - Playground Samba [Ocha Records] Free Association - Polyrhythm Jizm (Coflo Edit) [BBE Music] Po-lar-i-ty - Nawlins (Coflo remix) [Yoruba Records] Evar After - Pocket (Coflo Deep Remix) [Merecumbe Records] Coflo - Stress Relief (original Mix) [Ocha Records] QVLN - Keepin On (Coflo & Tomahawk Bang Remix) [Ocha Records] Coflo - Rescue Him [Ocha Records] Coflo - Lux (Alternative Mix) [Local Talk] Coflo & Lady C - Easy [Ocha Records]

M62: Sam Ruffillo
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads at http://monologuesrecords.bandcamp.com Sam Ruffillo is one of our favourite upcoming producers, pushing a delightfully jazzy, soulful, organic deep house sound that oozes class. Hailing from Bologna, he’s making waves rapidly through releases on Toy Tonics, Boogie Cafe and IRMA, and we predict big things for him. His music is laced with hazy keys, trumpets, flutes and all manner of warm and groovy sounds, with live instrumentation from the man himself and his friends decking out his very solid grooves. From the lounge to the dance floor, he impresses at every turn. *How would you describe your sound?* I’d say it’s somewhere between deep, lounge and colorful house music. I’m obsessed by grooves so I hope my sound would be described as a groovy one :) *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  I draw inspiration from genres such as jazz, afro funk, soul and disco... all kind of Black music basically but also by French touch, Italian music from the ‘70s and ‘90s hip-hop. I’m very much into art as well, especially renaissance and contemporary art inspire me the most. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* It represents the last couple years of studio work and releases. It feels good to have all my productions in one mix, I can feel the growth and the improvement, and it makes me proud! Tracklist: Sam Ruffillo - Through The Garden - IRMA Records Haze City - My Life (Sam Ruffillo Remix) - Cassè Records Astratto & Brine - Break It Down (Sam Ruffillo Remix) - Ragoo Records Sam Ruffillo - Playa Bola - Toy Tonics Sam Ruffillo - Night Out With You - IRMA Records Sam Ruffillo - Luv Bandito - Boogie Cafè Sam Ruffillo - U Make Me Sing - Boogie Cafè Sam Ruffillo - Midnight Funk - Toy Tonics Sam Ruffillo - Ride My Bike feat. M61: Portable
Check out our latest label releases + free downloads at http://monologuesrecords.bandcamp.com We’ve been trying to get South African talent Portable (aka oddball techno artist Bodycode) on the podcast for ages, and we’re delighted to finally snare him. His mixture of deep house and techno flavours, occasional snatches of African rhythm and his haunting, moody, vocal style give his tracks an inimitable sound, and this glorious mix takes you from his deepest moments to some of his most heady. Formerly of !K7 Records, Live At Robert Johnson, Dial and Perlon to name but a few, his sterling reputation continued with the recent ’The Transit Of Mercury’ album on his newly-minted Khoikhoi Records label. *How would you describe your sound?* Music that elevates into another plane of thought, via rhythm and future primitive tones.  *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*  It’s pretty broad, but generally speaking anything outside the norm — be it film, nature, music or art. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* The majority of the material is from the last year or so and from my own label Khoikhoi Records, which is named after a tribe of South Africa, the region where I grew up and are my indirect ancestors, so the selection of tracks represents this new independent phase I am in. Tracklist: Portable - You Hacked Me [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - Symmetry [Scape]  Portable - His Passing Moment [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - Visiting Hours [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - This Horizon (Bodycode Bellycloud Remix) [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - Believing [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - Release [Perlon Records] Portable - We, The Workers [Khoikhoi Records] Portable - Don’t Give Up [Sudelectronic] Portable - Climb [Khoikhoi Records]

M60: Modern House Quintet
We're really excited to welcome Modern House Quintet to the podcast. The Parisian duo have been putting out some superb freewheeling analog jams in recent times, focusing on slow-burning grooves and melodic improvisation (see also some lush sounds under their Cyclades moniker). Their wonderful mix for us is almost entirely comprised of unreleased material, all made by their own fair hands as is the Monologues Podcast way. *How would you describe your sound?* It’s always a tricky question. I would say that I try to do different things every time. A concrete example : the new release (CYC 003) contains five tracks which are quite unalike : one is a piano and guitar "housy" piece. The other is more dub-techno oriented. The third one has a more delicate house feeling, whereas the next one has a breakbeat-jungle vibe. The final one is kind of a vibraphonic interlude. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* Lots of immense jazz musicians : Milt Jackson, Red Garland, Kenny Drew, Tommy Flanagan, Teddy Wilson, Oscar Peterson, Clifford Brown, Kenny Clarke. Within the electronic scene : Lars Bartkhun, Basic Channel, Mike Grant, Omar S, Anthony Nicholson, Ron Trent, Volcov. Outside the electronic scene : Steve Reich and Philip Glass. On a different perspective, there is also the work of the dubplates & mastering engineers: Helmut Erler, Christoph Grote-Beverborg or Rashad Becker. The lacquering/cutting process has always been fascinating to me. It’s not an "influence" strictly speaking, obviously, but their work is impressive and it is inspiring somehow, yes. There are also soundtracks and movies, of course : as such, the italian TV show "Gomorra" is a wonder ("Suburra" as well by the way). The guys from Mokadelic did an incredible work. And I really like Eric Rohmer's movies, even though there is little music in them. All these things have, one way or another, an influence. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* The mix gathers strictly unreleased productions and one song previously released in 2018, on the Modern House Quintet label. I tried to do something varied, quite heterogenous so that the listener - and me - cannot be bored. Therefore, some songs are more techno, some have a sort of an ethereal atmosphere whereas others have a more "housy" feeling. Some are sketches whereas others are more "completed". About the tracklisting, I simply wrote "unreleased" with a short indication next to it, merely because I don’t have an accurate title yet, haha. Tracklist: 1. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the atmospheric one) 2. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the jazzy/vibraphonic one) 3. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the slow techno one) 4. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the arpeggio one) 5. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the techno bassy one) 6. Modern House Quintet - LD 3 (MHQ 008) 7. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the strictly techno one) 8. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the jazzy one) 9. Modern House Quintet - Unreleased (the jungle/breakbeat one) Want more music? M59: Manakinz
Click here to listen to our new release from Manakinz on 'Dialogue Vol. 4' Follow Manakinz on SoundCloud No-one is making house music we love more right now than Manakinz. The newly-minted project of Sub Club legend Harri and his production partner Max, Manakinz make hot, heavy, relentless, chunky-ass house music. Thickly packed with layers of samples, rolling percussion, disco grooves, rasping synths all licked by fat distortion, their tracks absolutely go off in the club. Play one and you’ll see and hear the mood change. We’re ecstatic to be releasing a bunch of their material through Monologues Records over the coming months, kicking off with ‘Robopubez (Rust In Peace)’ on our ‘Dialogue Vol. 4’ vinyl sampler on September 20. We wanted to give them a proper introduction, so here’s their slammin’ mix of unreleased material, with a slew of Monologues bits in there. And Billy Connolly…? *How would you describe your sound?* Genre-neutral dance music for all the family. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* Having fun, dub, soul, jazz, afrobeat, house, techno, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Norman Whitfield, Fela Kuti and Henrik Schwarz. We share the same vision, so often swap specs... *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* Cobbled together Thursday and Friday afternoon, using stuff we've just recently made and stuff we made earlier in the year. As for its meaning, we both thought that it sounded good and just hope that others do too. M58: Metropolitan Soul Museum
From the embers of Mock & Toof (DFA, Mule Musiq) came Metropolitan Soul Museum: a collaboration between Nick from the duo and his pal Filippo. Explorers of the deep, they have released on Toy Tonics, Catz & Dogz’s Step, Beats Of No Nation and Rawax, and will soon release an EP on Monologues Records. With a love of analog gear and deep deep sounds imbued with a soulful edge, their distinctive style is both hypnotic and groovy that blends house and techno history in equal measures (a healthy dash of Detroit therein). Let them take you on a trip through their catalogue and some forthcoming releases. *How would you describe your sound?* Melodic, analog and... *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* From jazz to electronic music, it really changes every day. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* We are quite happy to have manage to play our music only and what came out is actually a homogeneous mix with an organic and natural progression. M57: Paxton Fettel
Danish talent Paxton Fettel has made a resounding return to the fore this year after a few years off. His piano-heavy disco & house jams on his longtime home Greta Cottage Workshop and Delusions Of Grandeur are some of the most joyous tracks we’ve heard this year, but his catalogue stretches back to 2010 via releases on Kolour LTD, Plumage and Apersonal. His deeply melodic, organic grooves suggest a musically trained creator, but he’s all self-taught. Ahead of an EP for Monologues Records later this year, we invite one of house music’s most irresistible creators to guide us round his oeuvre. Spectacular results with plenty of exclusives. Tracklist: Paxton Fettel - Back You Want Don't I? [Forthcoming on Monologues Records] Paxton Fettel - Let Go [Greta Cottage Workshop] (From album: "Nothing Stays the Same") Paxton Fettel - Lift Off  [Greta Cottage Workshop] (From album: "Everything Stays the Same") Paxton Fettel - Pacifica 399 To Freedom [Delusions of Grandeur] (From E.P: "Night Waves) Paxton Fettel - Faster on Fire [Greta Cottage Workshop] (From E.P: "Better Days") Paxton Fettel - Music Music Music [Forthcoming on Monologues Records] Paxton Fettel - Burning   [Greta Cottage Workshop] (From E.P: "Better Days")   Paxton Fettel - Unreleased disco project demo Paxton Fettel - Unreleased housy demo from a few years back Paxton Fettel - Unreleased disco jam #1 Paxton Fettel - Unreleased disco jam#2     How would you describe your sound?   With this mix. What and who inspires you and influences your sound?   People around me, and new music I discover. I think a lot of times inspiration and influences happen subconsciously. I suppose I am inspired by every minute of my life, it all has influence. Even writing this might have an impact on my future, who knows.   Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?   I tried to capture the essence of my music in one hour. New stuff, old stuff, and stuff I primarily use in my DJ sets. Sometimes it's a vocal sample over an original production of mine, and sometimes it's more of a classic edit in a way. Like the first track, for example, which has Ramona Brooks chopped and resliced. Classic Paxton edit material, some might say. Then a few classics from the back catalogue. Then the latter part of the mix is mostly self-recorded disco instrumentals with or without vocal samples on it. It's always really fun to put your songs together in new and interesting ways. It makes me (and hopefully you) experience them in new ways. Again something I learn from and take with me to future productions. This mixtape is also an opportunity for me to show people some of the diversity in what I do, and give a focused lesson in my universe of sound, and thought on music. For that I am very grateful.
