Latinx/ Latina Historical Money Story
Welcome to the Latinx/ Hermanas Series! It's about that time Y'all where we look at the historical context of the Latinx money experience.  We talk about:  -The Latin/Hispanic community is the fastest growing group in the United States representing eighteen percent of the population.   -When we look at median income for Latinx communities, it is around $46,882 annually compared to White families. In America, the Latino poverty rate has hovered around 20% the past 40 years, according to Prosperity Now. -There are also been political laws that have consistently redefined the problem of immigration in America… which means for the past 100 years, the Latin/Hispanic American community has been a subject of constant deportation laws. A Financial Wrinkle in Time
Welcome to the Mone and flow podcast today we're going to talk about  Henrietta Green The Witch of Wall Street and Madam CJ Walker.  The Witch of Wall Street             Once upon a time there once was a gangster dressed in black name Henrietta “Hetty” Green aka the “Witch of Wallstreet.” Lil Wit for short. During the times of JP Morgan, And the Rockefellers, there was one-woman financier changing the game. She was from a prominent family the Green. When she was six years old she read her grandfather, Gideon Howell financial papers, because he couldn’t see too good. This was her first interaction with da money. Dollar Dolla bills Y'all. Anywhoo she started she say that her father’s company didn’t have their business money down pat. Then she offers to take over her father's company accounting papers, by the age of 13. For years she fine-tuned her accounting skills to purchase stock in Wall Street.             Many people viewed Hetty as a rude evil woman. Many wall street journalists would say that she smelled bad and had terrible handwriting that unfit for a woman. Her father purchased her a huge wardrobe and she took the clothes back to the store, and still found a man. This woman bought and purchased real estate, railroad, and made some killer deals. Most people called her nothing more than a glorified pawnbroker. She invested like a hawk, When she died Green had accumulated more than $100 million, about $2.4 billion today — all of it going to their children and since neither of her kids had kids they gave it to charities and nonprofits. This happened all before women had the right to vote.   Catch us on Instagram, Twitter Need Money Inspiration? Check our Pinterest Page Listen on Google Play, Stitcher , iTunes, Spotify
