59. Lawyering On Your Own Terms with Kailey Jacomet
Kailey Jacomet has created a law career that fits around her priorities and her lifestyle, not a life that fits around her law practice. When she first told me that, it struck me that most of us have built lives around our law practice. We fit family, fun, passions, and hobbies in the margins around our demanding careers. But, how do you create the life and law career that you actually want? Kailey knew from a young age that she wanted to be a lawyer and she wanted to be a mom. Reconciling how she could do both took creativity and courage. As a mom of two, Kailey now has a thriving IP solo practice and coaching business. She works part time and is able to be present for her family in a way that feels aligned with her priorities and values. In this episode, Kailey shares her journey on making the leap from government litigation to solo practice and innovative strategies for marketing and business development that have contributed to her firm's success. Kailey is on a mission to help other women lawyers create a life and law practice that actually work for them. From Oct. 4-8, 2021, she is offering a free interactive training to help you learn how to lawyer on your own terms. She will help you create a new vision of what your legal career can look like that is built around your most important priorities in life.Connect with and follow Kailey Jacomet at:The Lifestyle Law Firm | Lawyer on Your Own Terms (lawstyle.co)Facebook Group: The Lawstyle Law Firm | FacebookLinkedIn: Kailey Ibsen Jacomet | LinkedIn Upcoming Training: https://lawstyle.co/lawyer-on-your-own-terms Mom Life and Law is a podcast for lawyer moms who are expected to mother as if they have no job and lawyer as if they have no children. 58. Setting Priorities in Life & in Death with Randi Johnson
Randi Johnson is a former law firm owner, mother of two daughters, business strategist, and end of life and bereavement doula. Before meeting Randi, I had never known you could seek support from an advocate at the end of your life in the same way you do while giving birth. Birth doulas are more commonly known, but there are professionals who train to serve people who are dying. Randi Johnson took an unconventional path away from the practice of law and law firm ownership to follow her passion to do this work. She chose fulfilling her true calling over the practice of law.  In this episode, we dive into a thought-provoking discussion about honoring what you feel called to do, making that a priority, and finding the courage to go for it. She talks about how she set priorities in her life, what drove her to start her work as a death doula, and why it making that choice was so important.  Connect with and follow Randi Johnson at:Facebook: Randi Johnson | FacebookLinkedIn: Randi L (Black) Johnson | LinkedInLearn more about death doulas and conscious dying care at: Conscious Dying Institute (referenced in the episode).
