Episode 6- Peter Jacob, Former Congressional Candidate and NJ Progressive Leader
Peter Jacob was the Democratic candidate for NJ’s 7th Congressional district in the 2016 election. A social worker by trade, Peter was inspired to run for office by Senator Bernie Sanders. Through hard work and perseverance Peter has carved out a place for himself among NJ’s top progressive leaders. Unlike so many of his Democratic peers, Peter remains unbought by corporate money and unafraid to speak truth to power. Peter is a fighter for NJ’s forgotten voices and can be found speaking at any number of events throughout the state. With support from within his district as well as throughout the state of New Jersey, Peter Jacob stands out in NJ politics, an inspiring politician that doesn’t hide behind empty platitudes and rhetoric.
Unlike so many politicians today, Peter fights for the little guy and not corporate donors. In the run up to the 2018 election Pater faced a powerful primary challenger in former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor under President Obama, Tom Malinowski. Malinowski, with support from a Democratic party hostile to a progressive agenda and a number of other primary candidates meant to confuse the electorate, proved successful. Despite this loss, Peter pushes forward, building on his legacy of honesty and hard work. We are available on iTunes, Stitcher and Soundcloud.
