This week John talks about the greatest commandment. What is it and how does it affect our lives? Mark 12:28-34

This week, John analyzes the question the Rich Young Ruler poses to Jesus. John explores why the question is important and how we might ask a similar question concerning our own lives. 

This week we look at Mark 5:1-20. In this story, Jesus encounters a man with many evil spirits. How can we relate? Join us as we walk through the gospel of Mark. 

Mark Lesson 5 from Mark 4:1-20 and the Parable of the Sower. What can we learn about both the seeds and the sower?

This week we discuss the irony present in Mark Chapter 3. Jesus now has opposition at every turn. The main opposition consists of the religious rulers of the day. In this lesson, John looks at 2 separate episodes in this chapter and encourages everyone to look inside themselves to make sure we do not end up opposing the good Jesus is doing. 

Hi Everyone! I am so glad that you would be interested in this teaching. This lesson revolves around Mark 2:13-17 where Jesus is challenged for eating with the wrong people. I will discuss the deep issues that come from the hearts of these religious leaders. The challenge for us today is for us to not follow in their dangerous footsteps. I pray that each of us listens with a heart of compassion and understanding as we are challenged by the word of God. This week we pick up with lesson 2 of our series in the book of Mark. Lesson 1 was unfortunately not recorded. In this lesson, we identify what Mark wants to tell us in his writing, namely, that Jesus is the Son of God. Mark wants us to know that this was not some ordinary man claiming diety, but Jesus was diety. Thanks for listening.

This week we discuss Philippians 3:12-16. 

This week we begin our Re-Made series. Here we will focus on the question "what should the Christian's life look like between baptism and the end of our lives?" This lesson will set the table for our study throughout. We will be using Rebecca DeYoung's great book "Glittering Vices" as a map through our study. In Philippians 3:1-11, Paul talks about how everything in his life can be counted as a loss as it compares to knowing Jesus as his Lord. What an awesome focus! In this sermon, John unpacks how this view should be transferred into our own lives. 

Paul sends two men who are examples of Christ-like behavior to the Philippians. John talks about how we must be willing to grow spiritually to be in line with Christ. This podcast corresponds to Philippians Part 5 in video format. 

In this episode, John talks about Philippians 2:12-18. Paul is writing to this church in Philippi, and he does not know whether he will see them again. As such, Paul still wants them to know they should be living like Jesus. The same words Paul wrote are still perfect for us today. Are you living like a light out in the world? 

Paul's letter to the Philippians pushes forward in chapter 2 where Paul talks about the humility of Jesus. If anyone had the reason or excuse to be arrogant and place himself above others, it would be Jesus. He was in very nature, God. He humbled himself for our sake and came to earth as a servant and not someone with great financial means and power. Paul says we should have this same humility with the people around us. We should see them as more important than ourselves. We all need to be challenged in this way because it is easy to focus only on ourselves. I hope you are blessed by this. 

This week, John talks about Paul's letter to the Philippians. The focus is Philippians 1:12-30. Paul writes a letter to the people of Philippi to encourage them despite his being imprisoned. Paul sees his situation as a positive way to spread the message of Christ. His chains only serve to reach people with whom he had no reach beforehand. Now, other people have become more enthusiastic about spreading the news. Paul says the powerful words that for him, "to live is Christ, and to die is gain." John talks about how we can allow our passions or struggles to overshadow our mission for Christ. We may even bargain with God to get us out of a situation.
