21: Stacey Copas – Resilience & Adversity
This episode is all resilience and seeing adversity as a gift. Stacey is Australia’s #1 keynote speaker and facilitator on resilience delivering keynote speeches, training and coaching to organisations such as Telstra, South East Water and CSIRO. Her first book “How To Be Resilient”, which has been endorsed by Brian Tracy, Layne Beachley and Jack Delosa, was published in 2015.  Stacey has been featured by Financial Review, ABC radio and The Australian for her insights on resilience in the workplace. Stacey is also an Ambassador for the Layne Beachley Foundation Aim For The Stars. More recently Stacey has added athletics to her repertoire after 22 years of inactivity to further stretch her comfort zones, becoming the first women in her classification to compete in Australia, and is training to qualify for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. There are so many key takeaways from this episode. We discuss: * grief and acceptance * responsibility * intention * support * language * resilience vs persistence Stacey shares 3 of her 9 tips for building resilience from her book, How to be Resilient. To Stacey resilience is an opportunity for growth. It is the ability to respond positively and quickly to change and diversity. It is the ability to see the opportunity in adversity. It is shifting the way we look at things – shifting the perspective. Resilience is knowing what to quit and knowing whether what you are quitting is not right or difficult. 20: Limiting Beliefs
The blocks and limiting beliefs that we tell ourselves we have aren’t reinforced impenetrable steel walls. The don’t even exist in material form.  They aren’t something you have to physically manoeuvre around. They are just thoughts. They may play out in our lives in material ways perhaps, but they are not physical hurdles, physical walls or physical mountains. And if they were a physical wall or physical mountain I think many of us would just rally and conquer it. Our body could take the pressure, we just need to make sure our mind was not going to hold us back. It’s the imaginary thoughts that seem to hold us paralysed, limited and restricted. We often mistake our thoughts as a higher power, something more knowledgeable and powerful. Don’t confuse them for intuition. Don’t be an accomplice to them building walls around your life. And don’t go convincing yourself you have blocks and limiting beliefs.

18: Jimalie – Health and Social Enterprise
Jaypee Abraham is the Managing Director of Jimalie Coconut Products. Jimalie is a family business that goes back to Jaypee’s grandparents planting the seeds for what still is the family plantation over 65 years ago. Jaypee co-owns Jimalie with his gorgeous wife, Victoria, his brothers and two cousins.  Jimalie began trading in January, 2014 and is now stoked in about 400 retail outlets across Australia. The reason I love Jimalie is not just because they are in the business of coconuts and focus on health, but because of their values. They are continuing Jaypee’s father legacy by establishing the family land in the Philippines as a 100% charitable model farm, providing employment and education as well as teaching sustainable farming practices. Funds from the farm will be invested in first-class facilities and infrastructure as well as the development of educational programs at the local primary school. So this episode has me and Jaypee talking about coconuts, healthy lifestyle and healthy eating, the impact healthy food has on his son who has Autism, about sustainable farming, consumerism and social enterprise. Seriously one of my most favourite combination of conversations. What is Jaypee most grateful for? Family, healthy and freedom. What 3 things need to change for the world to be a better place to live in? People’s attitudes, cultivating happy family lives, responsibilities. What advice would you give yourself? To slow down. Keep in touch with Jaypee and Jimalie at jimalie.com.au -> subscribe to their newsletter. Instagram @jimalie_coconut_products Facebook Jimalie Organic Coconut Products.

17: Take back your power
Sometimes in the throws of dealing with a situation, whether it be an interaction with someone, the demise of a relationship, becoming unwell or when things don’t go to plan, when can lose ourselves in it and consequently lose our power to it. At the time of the situation there are probably practical things that you need to deal with and the time this takes can vary, but then everything shifts into a grey area and we think that we are still needing to deal with things about the situation but really we are just reflecting and recreating the situation. We always have lessons to learn from these situations and there is a process of dealing with it and I do believe we should honour the feelings that come up when we feel hurt, scared, sad and angry. But there comes a point where we need to see it as just an event in our past and the continued harm it doing isn’t actually anyone else responsibility but our own. I believe there are 3 ways of moving past this situation. One- understand how it serves you to still act and think and feel as you are. Two- recognise that you are the person responsible for how you feel now, and Three- take back your power. Is there a situation in your life that you’ve given your power too? I hope this episode can help.

16: Brenda Rosenfeld – Stress, Adrenal Fatigue and Healing
It’s a huge honour to have Brenda Rosenfeld on the show to chat about a topic really personal to me. Brenda Rosenfeld for the last 18 years has been a Nutritionist, Naturopath and Herbalist, following on from 10 years as an Intensive Care nurse, and she is a phenomenal Nutritional Coach and Wellness Mentor. She has spent over 5 years lecturing and supervising students at Nature Care College, has been a speaker at over 25 events and works from a number of clients across Sydney. Brenda focuses on the mind-body connection and the way our body reflects everything that we think and feel. She bridges the divide between orthodox medicine, nutrition and naturopathy because her experience has shown how strongly these all work together. Along with her wealth of knowledge and experience Brenda utilises a number of testing tools like live blood screening, bio-impedance cellular age and health testing and food intolerance testing to help identify deep body inflammation, stress and fatigue that may be contributing to particular health issues. I absolutely love this woman. Brenda is such a beautiful person and just hearing her voice is like a big hug and soothing cup of turmeric latte for me. As you may have already heard me talk about, I had Adrenal Fatigue, and in some respect am still recovering, and it took a huge toll on my health and life. Brenda was one of my practitioners and I just loved the way she approached my health, not just for her professional approach but her heart approach. But if you are thinking this episode isn’t for you because you don’t have Adrenal Fatigue, then please still hit play because Brenda talks so much deeper to so many issues we face with stress in our life, and lets be honest – we are all a lot more stressed these days an ever before. Brenda also beautifully talks about mind-body connection and the role emotions have on our health and our recovery. There is something in this episode for everyone, I assure you. And I really hope you love it. Questions we cover: What is adrenal fatigue? How is it different from chronic fatigue syndrome? What tests does someone need to have done to diagnose Adrenal Fatigue? Why does mainstream medicine miss this diagnosis? What can happen when the body is subjected to constant high levels of stress? What is the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system and what role do they play in our health? Wha

15: Feed your whole life
This might surprise you, but this episode isn’t about diets but I’ll say this up front and get it out out of the way – what you eat is really important! I love the quote, “you are what you eat so don’t be fast, cheap or fake” and I really think Hippocrates knew what he was talking about with quotes like, “all disease begins in the gut” and “food is medicine”. Let me also declare that I am really passionate about people eating organic whole foods. The ethos of my business is gluten free dairy free and sugar free and organic food and all of those classifications are not because they are some new fad or that I like to be different or that I like being difficult to take out to cafes and restaurants or that I like to be controversial because it might resemble one of the latest diets causing a cat fight in the media but because I really truly believe in the health benefits of eating that way and I know that eating this way has vital for my health and for the environment. So if this episode isn’t about all of these things what is it about then? There are so many other ways to nourish our lives. We need to look past food and see what else is going on in the other areas of our life. Depending on how you like to compartmentalise your life, most of us will agree on Family, Work, Social Life, physical activity, finances, and self-care. I’d like to argue for community and spirituality too and some might add education or intellectual pursuits. We compartmentalise these aspects of our life for clarity but really we all know that its hard to just have unsatisfied feelings at work and not have those feelings wash over into other parts of our life, like Sunday nights for example, or in the evenings coming home from work, or an argument or heartbreak being left at door when you walk into work. So when looking at health and how wee feed our life I think it is really important to take inventory on how we feel we are doing in all the different areas on our life. A great way is with the Circle of Life that I was introduce to during my study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  Joshua Rosenthal the founder of the Institute developed the Circle of Life and he refers to all the other ways we nourish ourselves as primary food, and food as secondary food, with the idea being that if you nourish your self in all the areas of your life, what you eat is secondary. Attached is a picture of the Ci

14: Essential Oils
Essential oils have been a large part of my life for the last 18months. I seriously don’t know what I did in my life without them. I use them everyday. I have my go-to regulars, DigestZen on my tummy (blend of essential oils that help with digestion), Frankincense behind my ears, Salubelle (blend of stunning oils that help with complexion and skin) on my face, Geranium on my heart, Wild Orange oil in my water and Lavender Peace (blend of calming soothing help you sleep essential oils) at night. Then I add into that what I’m feeling like I need. Sometimes for emotional things, sometimes for focus and concentration, sometimes for a delicious meditation. People often comment on my fragrance (let me assure you it’s always completely), but I can never really tell them what it is – I’m my own unique essential oil blend :) But then there are the essential oils I use for cleaning and doing laundry, or if I’m not feeling well or hurt myself. I’m not kidding – I had no idea what I did without them. Actually I can say, I didn’t have a fragrance and I just rode out being sick. My beauty routine was bare essentials as I’d already detoxed my life from harmful chemicals and products, so it was all rather bland. Now I am still “au naturel” but now I feel like I’m packing an awesome “au naturel” punch utilising the gifts of nature. Important things I talk about in this episode are: What are essential oils? Limbic system and smell. (I don’t get to science-y though I promise) What to look for in essential oils? How do essential oils support us? Good vibrations :) And I introduce you to a few essential oils that could support you in your life and living your extraordinary life. Here is the book I talk about: I would love to talk to you about essential oils and help you find some essential oils that can help you start living a higher vibration awesome sweet smelling life. Email me at naomi@naomidaveson.com and tell me what is going on for you, what aspect of the oils resonated most for you and what you’d like to get some support with. I do get really frustrated that I have to be really careful on what I can tell you essential oils are good for, though I completely understand why. Good quality essential oils are very powerful and can be very potent and we need to be mindful of that when we use them. There is lot

13: Expect Miracles
Have you ever been in a situation where it feels like everything is falling to pieces? The walls are falling down around you? Have you ever had something big coming up in your life that you know has the potential to be like a rollercoaster so in the lead up you ask the Universe for ease and flow throughout the event, that you are handing over all expectations of the situation, that you aren’t holding on to specific outcome, that you have trust and faith that it will all work out as it is supposed to and you are going to have everything you need to ride the journey? You proclaim that you are enough as you are and equipped with what you need to make it through. Then the days leading up to that big situation or event starts to get closer and closer and you are taking deeper and deeper breathes at more and more moments through out the day and you are handing over all the anxieties that keep coming up and the anticipation of how to navigate the course keeps creeping up. You are doing everything you can to be prepared for the situation whilst being fully aware that what comes up during the event is something that can only be addressed at the time. Then the next thing you know the big event arrives, and you tell yourself “I’ve got this!”. You take a deep breath, buckle up and prepare yourself for what’s ahead, seemingly still confident and still full of trust and faith that the Universe has your back. But before you know it things are falling apart and a massive hurdle pops up in your way and you have no idea how this is going to work out in your favour. Have you ever had someone tell you right in the midst of those that “It’s okay. It’ll work out”? They follow it up with a heaps of solutions that you write off because you’ve tried it, that person wouldn’t possible help you out, there’s not enough time and really because all hope is lost. Now this hurdle and event, despite everything you have ever navigated your way through and managed to rise above and came out unscathed and perfectly fine from before,  this situation you find yourself in right now is worse than all of them…and this time you’re screwed. Have you ever caught yourself saying or thinking in those moments, “positive affirmations and self talk aren’t going to help me now,”and feeling that it’s too late to ask for a miracle? Well I want to remind you that miracles happen in those tough moments too and that act

12: Tanya Cross – Demartini Method
When I was in the depths of my Adrenal Fatigue I started seeing a Demartini Method (DM) consultant to get to the bottom of some underlying limiting beliefs that I felt were holding me back in my life and keeping me stuck in Adrenal Fatigue. After studying psychology at university and being not very inspired by the counselling techniques taught, namely Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and after time seeing therapists myself that I never really felt dealt with the issues, I really liked the DM and its process. It’s an absolute thrill to chat with Tanya Cross who is a Human Behaviour Expert, International Speaker, Counsellor and Director at GriefAndLossCounselling.Com & Counsellors of Wisdom. She has an in-depth knowledge of human behaviour and has helped thousands of people master their lives through mastering their mind. After intense study and training, she is the first Master Certified Demartini Method Facilitator in Australia and 7th in the world.  She has a breadth of knowledge on human behaviour, leadership, health, grief, and maximising human potential. She has spoken for Adult Shop’s Passion and Pleasure program alongside well-known relationship counsellor, Dr John Gray, and taught Breakthrough Integration Day, a program that consolidates the learning’s of Dr John Demartini’s Breakthrough Experience. She conducts her own online seminars on wealth creation, sexuality, personal empowerment, uncovering your purpose and much more. Tanya believes your inner world is a reflection of your outer world and as you transform, the world around you transforms. Questions we cover: What is the DM and how does it help? How is DM different from seeing someone like a psychologist, counsellor or therapist? If someone was struggling with a person or certain type of person in their life, how can the DM help? How can DM help someone who feels they keep coming up against some blocks/fears in their life? How does someone find out what their highest values are and why is knowing our highest values really important? How does DM help with physical illness? Key Takeaways: DM is a process of shifting perceptions and rewiring the way the brain perceives experiences. DM shifts the experience from a crisis to a blessing.

11: Rise Above Mediocre
I use to sit in mediocre out of fear – I resigned myself to the idea of it because it’s the way I perceived my experiences and how I thought I was supposed to fit into the world. My desires for something extraordinary were often met with ‘why can’t you be happy with what you’ve got?” and “why do you always want more”, and that always led me to feel ungrateful and selfish. The Mindfulness craze just made me feel worse. Mindfulness is about appreciating the moment, appreciating what you have, just being here now, not wishing to be somewhere else, having something else or having more. To be honest I’ve really struggled with the concept and practice and how to integrate that with being a big visionary. Because I’ve always wanted to be somewhere else. I’ve always wanted to create something different for my life. I’ve always tried to achieve outside of my family and social experience. I’ve definitely become more satisfied with where I am at a point in time, even though when I am not at my end goal, because I am happy with what I am creating and I can see that I am chipping away at my goal and truly appreciating the journey. But even when you pick that apart, what I am appreciating is that I am in a constant changing state and I am happy with the fact that things are always changing and I have the ability to make those changes. And if “progress equals happiness” like Tony Robbins says, then it makes perfect sense that I appreciate the point I am on the journey but that I am not set, stuck or stagnant in that place. Everything about where we are and what we are doing reeks of potential and extraordinary.  The life and the story you leave behind is not a rehersal, this isnt you having a chance to look over the script before choosing to take the part. You don’t need to subscribe to the ordinary life if you have a feeling within you to be more – you just need to change the filters through which you are seeing the world. Lenses of opportunity or lenses of restritction. So why do I always want more than I have? Because I have a belief that the universe is abundant, that I am the creator of my life, that the world is full of potential and that through dreams, thought, intention, perseverance and hard work I can sculpt a masterpiece out of my life, not indifferent to the vision of David Michaelangelo had when he looked at a slap of stone. Do you see the slab of stone and think that it is enough as i

10: Shunanda – Angels, Spirits and Life Purpose
I’m so excited to share this episode with you. Every journal entry I write starts with Dear Angels, Archangels, Spirit Guides and the Universe, having sessions with spiritual counsellors and psychics, following the work of mediums, Angel workers, and following my guidance and intuition,  is very much a part of my life so being able to have this conversation and being able to share it with you is me sharing a lot about myself. Shunanda works with clients to provide readings, spiritual coaching, and spiritual development.  She works with the Archangels and your own divine support team of Guardian Angels to bring through messages to help you as you navigate life’s hurdles, find inner peace and happiness, and find your life purpose. All readings are a positive experience, as they come from such a divine place of love. A session with Shunanda can cover any area you need advice on such as life purpose, relationships, fertility, career and health. Since 2014 Shunanda has been working with clients all over the world, and specialises in supporting clients experiencing a spiritual awakening, and spiritual and psychic development. Shunanda has trained in Angel Card readings with Doreen Virtue, and in Mediumship, Advanced Angel Certification, and Angelic Life Coaching with Charles Virtue. Most recently Shunanda traveled to New York in 2014 to train with Charles in person to gain her Spiritual Teacher certification. Find out: How Shunanda connects with spirit and works with people. What Archangels, Angels, Spirit Guides and spirits are. Why people are so disconnected with their spirituality. What a clairvoyant, a medium, and a psychic are. What it means to be an empath. How you can discover who your divine support team is. If Shunanda sees spirits and how she connects. If everyone has the ability to be psychic. How someone enhances or increases their psychic abilities. If you are psychic if you are intuitive. What amazing experiences Shunanda has had working with spirit. How spiritual coaching can help people create an extraordinary life. How you know the visions, words, feelings you going are true messages. If we come into this life with to live a purpose. Key takeaways: We have a Divine Support Team (DST) of about 6 Guardian Angels and also spirit guides and any Archangels we are needing. They know us better than we know ourselves and are with us to

9: The Success of Normal People
During a recent trip to Sydney there was one striking theme that was highlighted again and again. Successful people are normal people who have persevered, struggled, and consistently made actions towards their dreams. There are a lot of people who were brought up in rich homes, loving stable homes, who have never experienced your hardships that are unsatisfied with their life. There are people who are worse off and had a childhood and/or experiences that you would never trade for yours that are successful and creating the most extraordinary life. What ever your story about why you can’t achieve your big dream…it’s just that…a story. It is just an excuse to use something in your past to define who you can and can’t be in the future. The more stories I hear about people who create extraordinary lives the more I learn that they are not freaks of nature. They are normal human beings just like you and me. They have their own stories of hardships, set backs, heartbreaks, naysayers, negative self-talk and struggles. Naomi Simson talks about passion, perserverance and purpose and this is something all successful people have. The fact that they dared to dream, the fact that they kept going, that is what allows them to create an extraordinary life. There is no reason you can’t create yours.

8: Joanna Turner – Money Mindset and Blocks
Originally from Scotland, now living in Sydney, Australia, Joanna Turner is a leading Business & Success Coach, Advanced EFT & Master NLP Practitioner (and former Chartered Accountant!). Joanna is a mentor to smart women entrepreneurs, who specialises in busting money & visibility blocks.  She has coached many women all over the world to gain momentum in their business by helping them create a winning mindset, increase their income, gain confidence and have the freedom to travel.   Joanna and I have lots of laughs throughout this episode and it’s very clear that this topic excites me! We actually livestreamed the episode into her Facebook Group which was pushing our comfort zones and technical set up abilities a bit ;) but we were all dolled up for a night out with fellow entrepreneurs so we thought we’d take advantage of the opportunity! We talk not just about money blocks but some great techniques that you can use to create an extraordinary life and bust through any blocks holding you back. I really enjoyed catching up with Joanna and I think you are really going to love this episode. (Photo: Joanna and I at the book launch we headed off to after the interview) Some questions I ask: What is NLP and EFT? What are some common fears or beliefs that usually sit behind money blocks? Does personal development have to co-exist with entrepreneurship and wealth? How do we end up with financial ceilings and  how do we smash that ceiling? For someone who feels they are constantly pushing for financial success with no success  getting anywhere what are some questions and personal enquiry they could do with themselves to find out if they have money blocks and then how do they bust through them? Do you think our success sits behind limiting beliefs and fears holding us back? How can you tell when something is a block and when its the Universe telling you are going the wrong way? What would you have to say to someone who is stuck in the place of thinking they can’t be successful or go for the dreams because they haven’t figured themselves out fully yet? What do you think it takes for someone to be successful and to achieve their dreams? My key takeaways: NLP is a way of language and is a way of reprogramming and retraining the brain. It’s not a manipulative sales technique that you might have associated with NLP before. EFT is a gent

7: Are you spiritual enough
Have you had times in your life when you get frustrated and start to question why the things you want aren’t manifesting in your life. You might then start to stocktake all the things you do. You meditate, you say your affirmations, you visualise, you think happy thoughts, you are kind to other people so you just can’t see why you the things you desire aren’t showing up in your life. To solve the issue and speed up manifesting you figure you must need to meditate more, you need to use a different visualisation process, journal more, feel your affirmations more intently, you need to be more spiritual, ask the Universe more nicer and need to be more grateful. If you do more, than you will be spiritual enough and you will be able to manifest what you want in your life. I want to let you know that it’s not about being more spiritual. You don’t need to add more spiritual practice or rituals into your life. You connect with the Universe/your creator and you are spiritual. It’s not that you need to ask 100 times and you have only asked 50. It’s not that you need to meditate for 1 hour and you only got in 20 mins this morning. “What you are seeking is seeking you” – Rumi What you need to do is set your intention, be clear on your vision, follow the positive feels that desired outcome brings to you, keep showing up with ease and love and have faith that it is finding its way to you. We need to get out of our own way, stop forcing, pushing and trying to control the outcome. Impatience and underlying beliefs that we aren’t enough, aren’t deserving, fearful of what that desired outcome will cause in our life are what is stopping the flow of what we desire from showing up in your life. You are spiritual enough. You just need to allow. You are asking for what you want, but are you listening, are you allowing it to show up the way it needs to that will be in your highest good? What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Leave comments here or on Facebook. 6: Desley Faulks Bowen Therapy
In October of 2006 Desley realised a life dream opening The Brisbane Healing & Training Centre in Brisbane Australia. Her mission is to provide a centre of professional Therapists, to teach the Bowen technique, and to assist people in understanding and managing their health needs. Desley has around 22 years of hands on experience in the Healing Industry. She has been a presenter at many Bowen Therapy world conferences for Bowtech and Bowenwork in places such as Geelong Australia which is the home of Tom Bowen and the Bowen Technique, in Connecticut USA at Yale University, in Sydney and Italy. Desley is dedicated to learning about human anatomy, how this beautiful technique supports our body heal and is a wonderful teacher of this therapy. Desley was my first Bowen Therapist many years ago and was the catalyst for my healing journey on a mind, body and soul level. In this episode I talk a lot about my own experience with Bowen Therapy on and off the table. Some questions I ask: What is Bowen Therapy? How can it help people achieve an extraordinary life? What are “reactions” that you can get during or after a session? Can stress and emotions manifest in the body? How benefits from having Bowen Therapy? What is one big lesson you have learnt about the human body with all of your experience facilitating healing in people? My key takeaways: Bowen Therapy: * is natural and non-invasive therapy using a series of gentle moves across the body. * improves lymphatic system and help assimilate nutrition and cleansing of toxins. * empowers the body to heal itself and supports the body’s innate intelligence to heal itself. * works on the whole body system and works right down to the cellular level. * takes you out of your fight and flight response. * works across all meridian lines. * is great for children with concentration and focus problems all the way through to someone suffering physical impairment. * helps to release trauma, whether recent or lifelong, from the body. Fascia is linked to all parts of the body and sends the messages that Bowen Therapy taps into. Thoughts become things so choose good ones. There are metaphysical reasons besides some of the physical pains that we experience. What Desley is grateful for: Her family, health and knowledge gained on What Desley feel needs to change t

5: Appreciation vs Gratitude
Do you practice gratitude every day, whether that be by writing it down in a journal or by taking moments in your day to mentally note what you are grateful for?  It’s a beautiful practice, and I highly recommend it. But do you still sometimes just not feel completely lit up? I practice gratitude every day, and no I don’t write them down in a journal every day either, but there are many times I stop and savour a moment, or fully take in a revelation on something in my life and I realise I am blessed. Sometimes it’s a really conscious process and needing to get myself into gratitude when I feel angry or disappointed or sad or upset about something in my life. The thoughts that occupy your mind when in those emotional states can be a spiral of destruction and kicking yourself out of it by reflecting on what you have to be grateful for stops those thoughts in their tracks and get you out of your head, gets you to take a deep breath and get into your heart. When you are truly committed to that feeling of gratitude for what you have in that moment, anger, hate, sadness can’t exist at the same time. But gratitude is such an introverted practice, don’t you think? And I know that it has its benefits. We can be so externally seeking a lot of the time. We are constantly bombarded with social media and advertising and other things to help us feel something, or with other people telling us what we need and what we should do, or what that voice in our head is telling us which is often the ego and coming from a place of fear. Gratitude is a great way of getting centred and in touch with our own guidance. Well that’s my experience with gratitude anyway. It fuels you from within. It’s internal and internally fuelling. It’s introverted. It doesn’t rely or depend on anyone else. The only connection is with you and a greater energy source. And there is magic in that. Maybe because I spend so much time in an introverted state, if I’m to be totally honest, gratitude just doesn’t completely fill me up. I often feel like there is still something missing. I use to think that maybe I wasn’t doing gratitude correctly. That maybe I wasn’t grateful enough for those things in my life. But I was talking to a friend the other day and that, together with a few other situations in my life recently, something started to make sense. I saw a thread. And it’s all to do with appreciation and acknowledgement. When someone tells you, quite une

2: Sue Wilson – Gut Health and Colonics
For this episode I got to go on a country road trip and sit down with Sue in her childhood home! She was visiting family near me so I ventured on a road trip to be amongst the rolling hills, dairy cows, chickens, dogs and just lots of country air goodness. I did get lost. But it was worth it. I had the best time that day. I’ve known Sue for a number of years, we did a health coaching certificate through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition together, and she is the founder of Bottoms Up Colonic clinics which is a closed system colon hydrotherapy clinic. Before founding Bottoms Up in 2005, Sue worked for 20 years in social work counselling so for Sue, her lifelong passion has been helping people achieve emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. She founded the business after her own life-changing experience of colonics and is a trained Colon Hydrotherapist and a member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT). Sue originally trained with Margaret White in colon hydrotherapy in 2005, and then went on to also train with with Luis Rojas in LA in 2013. Sue is now the IICT’s only approved training provider of Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy in Australia. Sue opened her very first Bottoms Up clinic just outside Mackay, Queensland Australia and today has franchises in Mackay, Bundaberg, Adelaide’s Fleurieu Peninsula and has others planned for Melbourne, Brisbane, the Sunshine and Gold Coasts to open soon and many others to follow. It just isn’t about colonics for Sue though, it really is about gut health and the importance of nutrition in long-term results with colonics, so Sue became a Body Ecology consultant in 2007 and continues to train with founder Donna Gates. Sue also runs Belly Talk 101 gut health seminars anywhere in Australia sharing tips on digestive health, and has also created the Cultured Cuisine range of fermented foods. And if that wasn’t enough to keep this beautiful woman busy, Sue is currently co-ordinating the first-ever Colon Hydrotherapy and Gut Conference on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia and has partnered with SmartDNA to conduct the first research on colonics and microbes. Some questions that will be answered: Why is taking care of your gut important for people’s health, happiness and success? What is a colonic? What should people know before going for a colonic and finding a safe place to have a colonic? When would someone be more

3: My Take on Colonics
Following on from Episode 2 with Sue Wilson discussing gut health and colonics (listen to it here) I give you my account of having a closed system colonic which I took myself for about a week after my interview with Sue. There aren’t any closed system colonic clinics around me so I had to travel to the Byron Bay area to actually see someone but I was going to be in that area anyway for podcast interviews and other meetings so it was logistically divine. So I won’t go into too much detail here, suffice to say I have these things to note: * Despite your probable concern of having someone in the room with you whilst you have a colonic I think it is incredibly invaluable. Firstly because they have experience and they are able to talk you through the process and let you know what is normal, and what you need to do. Secondly, because they are experienced they can give you invaluable feedback to the health of your body. Your gut tells many stories about your health so a person assessing what comes out of it can be invaluable in healing yourself. Thirdly, you get your tummy massaged …and who doesn’t love that? Fourthly, this is what colonic hydrotherapists do for their job, they are not going to be embarrassed nor fazed by your rear end. * To be alone in an open system colonic room experiencing something really unfamiliar and ensuring you have the tube correctly inserted in your butt is a little unsettling for me, clearly more so then actually having an experienced person in the room with me. When you have water soaking in your colon, it’s kind of unusual, just like having a tube in there, so being in a room on my own, I know personally, I’d be sitting/laying there wondering (aka anxious as all hell) if I was actually doing it right and if that discomfort was normal and whether that “motion” was going to go down a tube or mess the bed (isn’t it fun talking about this stuff :) ). * Women, if you have a pap smear, then blimey you can have a colonic. It’s why less embarrassing, awkward, painful and uncomfortable. I’m not kidding. And you end up feeling great at the end, cleansed and feeling like you have emotionally and physically released stuff and you feel more empowered and knowledgeable regarding your health. If you have ever felt that way after a pap smear, please let me know, I might change doctors. It is incre

4: Jason Clark & Brent Coglan – Fitness and Health
Brent Coglan and Jason Clark have been in the industry for over a decade and now run Perform 360 in Enoggera, 10 minutes North of Brisbane’s CBD. Over this time they have seen many health and fitness fades come and go and truly believe Perform 360 was born out of a need for quality coaching and effective training and nutrition methods which deliver incredible health, mobility and performance results. From meathead natural body builders, to now holistic organic lifestyles these guys have done it all in search of optimal health and training principles. I met Brent and Jason when I first started getting serious about fitness many years ago. They were still working out of a big brand gym at the time and training people for bodybuilding comps and other people at the gym too. I’ve really seen how they have evolved over the years in fitness and nutrition and also in business, so I am so happy to have them on the podcast to share their experience and knowledge and believe me, they delivered up fantastic advice and life insights. Some questions I ask: What are the types of fitness/training styles have you used over the years? What is the fitness style behind Perform 360? What are some fitness truths you have learnt from all the different fitness regimes that can be applied to everyone? What does your morning routine look like? How important is nutrition in meeting fitness goals? Do you think one fitness regime or diet suits every body? How should someone train if they are burnt out and experiencing a lot of stress in their life? What is one of the big lessons you have learnt about business through the different businesses you have had over the years? How do you make a business partnership work? What advice do you have for any personal trainers or other entrepreneurs in the health and fitness industry? My key takeaways: There’s a big difference to training to make your body look good on the outside and making it feel good on the inside. You have to find a type of exercise that you enjoy and want to do consistently. You should consider how your exercise is going to enable you to live an active healthy life. When you are experiencing a lot of stress and your body is tired, maybe you need to think about a walk or some yoga and not a hard hitting weights or HIIT session. You can’t out train a bad diet. By connecting with your body you can
