A french chocolatier with a Venezuelan heart | Ep33
On this episode I tried a chocolate bar that caught my eye for two things, first, I saw it was made with Venezuelan cacao, trinitario kind, and second it was a maker that I haven't tried before: François Pralus, a french chocolatier. I got this bar at a chocolate fair here in Lisbon, very nice purchase. On this episode I also extend on the bar for the next episode and also about my thoughts on the first year tasting chocolates for this show. If you want to go see the look of the bar by yourself you can go to the video: https://youtu.be/GDyeUSAK_bM On the other hand you can follow me to be updated at: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mikecocoa/ Snapchat - https://www.snapchat.com/add/mikecocoa23 Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/mikecocoatasting/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/mikecocoa/

Ginger and Porto wine with chocolate | Ep 32
Introducing this two chocolates is curious, when I found them on Arcadia shop, here in Lisbon, I was more focused on picking up a box with the best flavors, but the presentation of this pair surprised me and decided to give it a try. Besides the first impression, I always thought that chocolates with alcohol are not my thing when I tried to let one surprise me I end up disappointed, in fact, I can only recall one rum chocolate made in Colonia Tovar (Venezuela) that I honestly enjoyed. Looking back at things, I think that is not just a matter of the alcohol, I think it is how it is presented to the palate, that is why the best in this chocolate world are the unique combinations that it can have and how it is perceived differently for everyone. Chocolate GALAK - My favorite childhood chocolate | Ep 31
Since I was little I've eaten numerous chocolates and as me you probably have too. Some of them, specially when you have eaten them on your childhood can have an important impact in your whole life. This chocolate Galak for some reason was taking out of the Venezuelan market and now is selling again, I was lucky to get one bar again and it is amazing how time changes our perception of things and foods, some different insights comparing to me as a child, plus some memories of my childhood came back to me during this tasting. I hope you enjoy the stories behind the tasting. Eating another BOX OF CHOCOLATES from Cacao Sampaka | Ep 30
It is not the first time that I eat a complete box of chocolates, this time a friend of mine gave me a box from Cacao Sampaka store, She told me that they had the craziest flavors, with all kinds of combinations. At first, I was so happy but then I realized how incredible are and how crazy is to eat this edition of their chocolates. I wanted to test my palate to every flavor of this presentation but I failed miserably and I got to admit it, at the end when I saw the flavors of every chocolate I felt impressed of how simple the chocolates were made but how complex the flavor felt. Is Pierre Marcolini's Chocolate that good? | Episode 29
In my first time in Brussels, I couldn't lose the chance to taste the chocolates of one of the most famous chocolatiers in Belgium. I was not planning to release this so soon but I could not resist, the tasting was smooth and done pretty close of one of Pierre's stores right there in Brussels. Bean to bar from Tanzania - Feitoria do Cacao | Episode 28
Today we bring to the show an amazing chocolate bar from a Portuguese maker called Feitoria do Cacao, the concept is bean to bar and won in 2017 the third price as the best chocolate in Europe. The chocolate combines a bold origin with an incredible ingredient that I never imagined could be possible, Sheep milk from Spain. It really blew me away, this gave a special and delicate taste to the bar, made with cacao from an origin so famous for its complex flavor, at least this is what I've known from opinions from other people. That is why chocolate is an interesting subject because you can understand its flavor and compare your tasting results to others. Strawberry yogurt and chocolate??! 😨🤔 | Episode 27
This time tasting another chocolate from Ritter Sports, in this opportunity we have the one with strawberry and yogurt. Although my former German roommates didn't like this brand I think certain flavors are worth it. I've eaten chocolates like this before from a different German maker this bar had an ace up its sleeve that in my opinion really helps it to stand out from the rest of chocolates with strawberry yogurt. A box of Arcadia chocolates 😱 (Spanish) | Episode 26
A box of chocolates from a Portuguese maker called Arcadia. They have several shops around Portugal with quality chocolate that combines local flavors with the best chocolate. If you are in Lisbon definitely worth the shot of trying it. This was the final episode of the year 2017 with my lovely wife, the complete episode is in Spanish. Hope you enjoy the video, I would not recommend eating so many chocolates if you can't handle so much awesomeness, plus if you have any more recommendations for future episodes feel free to comment! THE WORST CHOCOLATE IN THE WORLD!! | Episode 25
This episode is raw. One of the most difficult tastings ever! I tried what I believe is the WORST chocolate bar ever in the world!!!. I don't know about you but I really and deeply hate chocolates or bombons with alcohol on the inside, like in liquid form, but now chocolates with mint have won the price, this Ritter Sports with Mint is really nasty. I put a lot of work to not throw up (for real). You can watch that for yourself. As always if you have any suggestions for the next tasting comment below and I'll be happy to try to make it happen. 🇨🇷 Maleku 92% International Chocolate Awards 2017 | Ep 24
The most special bar for Europe this 2017 comes to the show, Costa Rica Maleku 92%, the Gold winner for Europe in the International Chocolate Awards 2017. This bar is from Feitoria do Cacao, a Portuguese maker. I'm so pleased to find a chocolate that not only challenges your palate but also opens it to flavors that probably the average chocolate eater have never felt before. This is a bean to bar chocolate that is made with beans from Costa Rica, with hints of caramel but for me mostly earthy. You can see how incredible the bar is, perfectly tempered and you'll know just from the video how is that they've won the gold price for Europe this year. Here you can find the website for the maker: http://feitoriadocacao.com/pt/ Here are my social media accounts: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mikecocoa/ Snapchat - https://www.snapchat.com/add/mikecocoa23 Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/mikecocoatasting/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/mikecocoa/ Anchor - https://anchor.fm/mikecocoa

Mantuano with limes | Mike Cocoa Chocolate Tasting | Ep 23
Coming back to my roots trying my favorite Venezuelan chocolate brand until now: Mantuano. Lots of people have been recommending me this bar with limes as one of the best from this maker, turns out you have to eat it to judge. This time I'll do the tasting it for you and let me tell you, the flavor is incredible, smooth tempering and fruity smell. An excellent chocolate with excellent cacao... from Venezuela. As always if you have any suggestions for the next tasting comment below and I'll be happy to try to make it happen. Chocolate con 🥛- Savoy | Ep22
The chocolate that I remember eating first as a child comes to the show! Chocolate con leche Savoy. A milk chocolate that growing up was always present, I can not count how many times I had it as a present and it wouldn't be bad or insufficient whatsoever. Although is not a fine chocolate, its quality is way better than an industrialized chocolate, part of that it's because is made with Venezuelan cacao. Hope you enjoy this audio, always open to your comments and what you think, find me on everything: @mikecocoa 😋 Love 🥛♥️

Madeira Chocolate | Ep21
This time we try a chocolate bar from Madeira Island. I saved this bar quite a while after moving from Madeira. Since it had been a while in my drawer I decided to give it a try. As you might expect It is manufactured on the island and although is not artisanal chocolate it has pretty good flavor surprises. If you have been on this amazing island and like the flavors of their food, you have to know a little bit more about this chocolate bar that comes in in two flavors: dark chocolate or milk chocolate, usually cost around 1€ - 2€. Hope you enjoy this short podcasts! Lots of chocolate love ♥️🍫

Ritter Raisins and Rum | Ep20
This time We mix up things a little bit with shorter episodes and trying to enjoy one bar at the time. I have never tried this kind of bar before, seemed like a good idea but if you are like me, maybe the chocolates with alcohol additions aren't your thing. This is a German brand 🇩🇪 called Ritter Sport, although I've tried a lot of their chocolates and I happen to get along pretty well with my German roommates, this time the bar was a little bit short on quality. Have you ever tried this chocolate? 🐦Tweet me @mikecocoa

Don't eat that 🍫🤢 | Ep19
On this episode I try three bars from Venezuela, although we had a couple of good episodes with quality chocolates, these bars are at the candy bar level but I didn’t expect maltitol in two of them. The brands were “El Rey” and “Sinfonia”. Maltitol certainly changes the texture and flavor of chocolate. Do you have any opinions about maltitol in chocolate? Tweet me @mikecocoa

Chocolates Paria 🍫 | Ep18
Finally a new episode! This time Chocolates Paria appears in the show and disrupts every chocolate that I've tried before. The bars: Puipuy (50%), Chaguaramas (60%) and Chacaracual (70%) made me taste flavors that I thought couldn't exist in one simple chocolate bar. Have you seen this bars??

Mantuano Chocolates 🇻🇪 Ep17
Welcome to the episode 17 of this show, I must confess that I've been taking my time to choose the next chocolate, but for this time I think I really nailed it! Today we have two Venezuelan chocolates from a brand called Mantuano. This brand is getting very popular inside the local market, offering excellent bean to bar chocolates. The first chocolate was "Mantuano Coffee Beans" a 53% chocolate, it has traces of coffee beans and one of the most amazing things is that combines the quality of the Venezuelan cacao with the quality of Venezuelan coffee. The second chocolate was "Mantuano 70% chocolate", a dark chocolate with an ok look, with some bright. With a great sharp sound. As ingredients, it has sugar, cacao butter, and cacao liqueur. Simple chocolate but complex flavors. Thank you for joining me on this episode and please share it with others ♥️ see you soon ☺️
