Journey to the Future | Deep House | April 2015
Here is a three hour set I recorded for the trip to Further Future, a three day event held outside of Las Vegas by the Robot Heart crew. The event was outstanding in so many ways… music, vibe, food, people, etc. Big love to all the new and old friends that got to share the experience of Future Future. We’ll be back next year! All that aside, this mix is a journey through deep and soulful house. Enjoy. The post Journey to the Future | Deep House | April 2015 first appeared on Midnight Soul | Underground House Music.

Boogie Tales Vol 1 | Soul N Disco | Dec 2011
My hiatus from house music has come to an end! I’m back in full force and plan to start recording and playing out on a regular basis. As part of this resurgence I’ve been listening to a lot new music as well as some of my old mixes that never got released. Over the next few weeks and months you’ll hear a bunch of new and old sounds. And to kick it off… Here is a soul, funk and disco mix from 2011. Enjoy. Crossroads | Deep House | Oct 2011
In all my years of djing I never thought I’d start a mix with Bobby Brown’s Don’t Be Cruel followed by Bananarama’s Cruel Summer — the musical universe works in strange and mysterious ways. This 118 bpm deep house set contains tracks that toe the line between Indie Dance and Deep House.  Have a listen and let me know what you think.  Personally, I love this sound and plan to share a lot more of it in the future. Live at the Clubb House-Part 1 | Soulful House | Jun, 2010
This is part 1 of a three-and-half-hour set recorded live at the Clubb House on June 5th, 2010.  It kicks off with a mixture of old and new school soulful house tracks like ‘Music & Wine’ and ‘Girls Are Evil’. Then builds up to some rockin’ gospel house before transitioning to an underground house sound perfected by the likes of Quentin Harris, Mr. V, Dennis Ferrer, and Ralf Gum. Be sure to listen for track 14, it’s a sick remix of the 2000 anthem titled ‘Bad Habit’ by ATFC and OnePhatDeva. The original track has been injected with new life by the Spanish producer, Uner. This set was recorded in 2009 but sat in the car for almost a year before making it’s way to the masses.  It starts off with a few mellow house tracks and segues in to a nice groove.  The last two tracks are a couple of old school anthems that must be played from time to time. NINJA Soul | House Music | May, 2009
On May 24, 2009 a bunch of friends rallied the NINJA disco bus from San Francisco to Shoreline Amphitheatre to see Janes Addiction and Nine Inch Nails – a nationwide tour so eloquently dubbed, the NINJA tour (Nine Inch Nails & Janes Addiction).  It was an incredible concert that paved the way for a stellar after party.  This set was recorded live at the after party and contains a nice collection of house tracks: soulful, funky, and a little tech house to bring it all together. Aside from the fact that I played the same song twice (because Big Mike wasn’t listening) it’s a fine set. Enjoy. Track Listing Tonight (Main Mix) – Dajae I Surrender – Kemal feat. Live from Rock Bottom — House Music — Sep. 2009
Burning Man 2009 – what started as a tag team session between myself and Matt Kramer turned in to a 2 hour solo mission at the Rock Bottom camp.  Zach Moore (Gough Street Sessions) was kind enough to record the last 45 minutes of my set and post it on his website. This is a driving house music set and the song selection is a bit disjointed; but hey, it was Saturday afternoon at Burning Man… what do you expect?! Enjoy. Track Listing Sandcastles (Tiger Stripes Dub) – Dennis Ferrer Move Your Body – Dj Jeroenski & Bjorn B Upside Down – Juanra Martinez Time to Freak – My Digital Enemy Freaks Come Out (Prok & Fitch Mix) – Cevin Fisher Let the Sun Shine (Mile & Sugar Mix) – Milk & Sugar Strip for Me – Danism & Haze Rock with You (Hook N Slink Mix) – Michael Jackson Bye Bye – Moire Mundo (David Penn Mix) – Prok & Fitch Pesadilla Hermosa (Pig & Dan Mix) — Erphun The post Live from Rock Bottom — House Music — Sep. 2009 first appeared on Midnight Soul | Underground House Music.

Mixed Signals — Soulful House Music — Nov. 2008
Mixed Signals is a soulful house mix recorded at the Clubb House in November of 2008.  My vision for this project was to explore a different style of soulful house music – one with a chunkier, more progressive sound that is energetic and beautiful but doesn’t teeter on the heavy electro and techno sounds that are so prevalent in today’s club scene. The first twenty minutes of the mix are deep and soulful with a slow progression in to the sound that I’ve been enthralled with for the past couple years.  This deep, chunky sound has been around for a while with support from legendary producers like Quentin Harris, Ralf Gum,  Mr. V, Copy Right, Sandy Rivera, Chocolate Puma, Dj Disciple,  David Penn, Soul Avengerz, Joey Negro, Mood II Swing, Dj Spen, and King Unique. Enjoy. Track Listing You Are My Everything – Uj Project Say Something – Tovar After My Love – Vincent Kwok This is Not Your Job – Da Lata Can’t Stop – Quentin Harris H.O.U.S.E. – Mr. V Deep is All I Know – Justin Michael Drop the Bomb – Soul Avenger Dayz — Unknown Revolution – David Penn Reach 4 You (Mood II Swing Dub) – Mood II Swing Speed Up – Funkerman The Ministers – Bongolovers Wondrous — David Penn God Made Me Funky – Mike Dunn The post Mixed Signals — Soulful House Music — Nov. 2008 first appeared on Midnight Soul | Underground House Music.

Soul Vigilance — Soulful House Music — Feb. 2009
Soul Vigilance comes with no warning label, just the promise of heart warming house music from start to finish. It’s soulful in every sense of the word. A collage of rich harmonies, funky baselines, and beautiful vocals–this mix is sure to add joy and happiness to your day. Inspired by many artists, here are a few that I listened to before creating Soul Vigilance: Joey Negro, Chuck Love, David Harness, Louie Vega, Dimitri from Paris, Barbara Tucker, Kerri Chandler, David Morales, Blaze, Miguel Migs, and Johnny Collective. Enjoy. Track Listing: In Transit (Home to You) – Tortured Soul It Ain’t All Good – De La Soul feat. Chaka Khan Sometimes (Crazy P Superfunk remix) – Miguel Migs Rescue Me – Sunkids feat. Special Guest Mix: Dj Rooz — 2 Deep 4 the Club
To keep the music flowing on Midnight Soul I’ve enlisted the help of a friend, Dj Rooz.  Well known in the San Francisco underground as one of the hardest working dj/promoters, Rooz has graciously provided this fantastic downtempo mix that incorporates electronic beats, jazz, funk, soul and minimal techno into an hour and sixteen minute melodic journey. In addition to his musical talents, Dj Rooz keeps the SF underground well informed about upcoming parties, events, and the latest music to hit the streets through his frequently updated website. Check it out… http://www.djrooz.com The post Special Guest Mix: Dj Rooz — 2 Deep 4 the Club first appeared on Midnight Soul | Underground House Music.

Disco 99 — Disco House Music — Feb. 2008
This is a banging disco house set that may cause serious physical and psychological side effects. I recommend caution! The mixing is absurd, the track selection is over the top, and there are parts of the mix that could cause epileptic seizures. All that aside, it was a lot of fun to make! We don’t hear much disco house in our circles anymore so I have to resort to bangin’ it out in the privacy of my own home. Yes, I’m still talking about house music… And one day while viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared LET THERE BE HOUSE! And house music was born. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you’re deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. I pulled tracks from a number of legendary house producers that used to rock the disco tracks back in the day — Carl Cox, Olav Basoski, Robbie Rivera, Antoine Clamaran, Dj Disciple, and Richard “Humpty” Vission and many others. The ’90s were an awesome time for funky ass house music… here’s a little reminder. Enjoy. Scorpio Daze — Deep House Music — Jan. 2009
To start, I’d like to say thank you to all who pitched in for my amazing birthday gift last month. It’s only been a few weeks since I started playing on my CDJ 1000’s but I can honestly say that I’ve never been more inspired to DJ. Had I known playing CD’s was this much fun I would have hung up the vinyl years ago. So, thank you! Especially to the love of my life and the mastermind behind the gift — you’re the best Tina! As for my latest house mix, it was created for a close group of friends born in November (hence the name) and played at Pink with Franky Boissy and Jojo Flores. Enjoy. Year of the Rat — Deep House Music — Jan. 2009
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable NYE. I spent the evening with a small group of friends at Kelly’s Mission Rock in San Francisco. We had the privilege of watching D:FUSE work his magic until the wee hours of the morning. If you haven’t seen him live, I highly recommend it. He’s an amazing performer and never fails to turn it out. Well, it’s a new year so I thought I’d start things off with a spiritual rant to go along with my latest deep house mix. For those of you who don’t know 2007 marked the end of the Zodiac calendar’s 12 year cycle. What does this mean you ask? How does this relate to Midnight Soul or anything else for that matter? Well, I was born in 1972, so according to Chinese astrology, 2008 is my year! It’s the beginning of a new 12 year cycle… a time for change, new opportunities, and challenges. I don’t hold much stock in astrology but I am looking forward to making 2008 the best year ever! And with that I give you an uplifting deep house set called ‘Year of the Rat’. Enjoy.
