| 36 | Introducing Dr. Jon Allen (”Doc Allen”)
In this episode, Jason and Brandon talk with emergency medicine physician and EMS medical director, Dr. Jon Allen, or, as his medics call him, "Doc Allen."  Doc Allen has a passion for all things emergency medicine and EMS, and it definitely shows in his work and day to day operations. As the medical director for multiple EMS services (Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, Pickens County Fire Rescue), tactical law enforcement teams, and the Georgia Smoke Diver Association, Doc Allen hopes to influence EMS by engaging with the paramedics on the ground level by ways of running calls with them, training with them, and protocol development. Doc Allen truly has a vision of EMS being part of a global system of care, and the benefits that come with practicing based on evidence based medicine.  This is the first of many conversations with Dr. Allen, as he will be back with Jason and Brandon to discuss various calls, case studies, and research.  www.medicclasscitizen.com

| 35 | American Sirens, with Kevin Hazzard
Join Jason and Brandon as they sit down with renowned author, journalist, writer, and paramedic, Kevin Hazzard.  Hazzard's 2016 release, "A Thousand Naked Strangers: A Paramedic's Wild Ride to the Edge and Back" quickly became a cult classic among the EMS community. His September 2022 release, "American Sirens: The Incredible Story of the Black Men Who Became America's First Paramedics," is a major topic of this discussion, along with reminiscing about being a Paramedic on the streets of Atlanta, Georgia.  In this conversation, giants in the history of EMS are recognized. Specifically, Dr. Peter Safar and Dr. Nancy Caroline. Even more important, however, are their students; the first paramedics in the nation. The men of Freedom House Ambulance Service. Their story, and the story of their perseverance in the face of discrimination and adversity is the remarkable truth behind the beginning of EMS in the United States.
