The Audio Beat The Streets New York’s Brendan Buckley was a Division I All-American and former Division I head wrestling coach. Wrestling’s been part of most of his life. The last several years, the Executive Director of BTSNY, has been working on developing programing and leading the charge of some of its major events, including the annual BTS Benefit, which some still call a gala, despite Buckley downplaying the “gala” aspect of it.  On June 10, Beat The Streets will again partner with USA Wrestling with the annual BTS Benefit following Final X at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. at Redd’s Biergarten. We check in with Brendan to see what goes into setting up this year’s event and how it differs from other events that have partnered with USA Wrestling, including one leg of last year’s Final X. The Audio Hayden Hidlay didn’t check all the equipment, so Episode 109 starts off with an apology, an unnecessary one, but an apology nonetheless. Coach Pat Popolizio and Hidlay recharge the batteries and fire up the show. Tuffy Talk will also win the bid as a guest host for the second part of the show today.  We’ll recap the U.S. Open as well as some other big news centering around the NC State wrestling family such as Michael Macchiavello heading right from the U.S. Open to the Pan Am Championships in Buenos Aires and not giving up a point.  We’ll preview the U20 and U23 World Team Trials coming up the first weekend in June in Ohio. Macchiavello will head to Final X as well on June 10 in Newark, N.J. Hayden will also drop some information on his big news. Hayden will move over 1,400 miles from Raleigh to Fargo to take on a coaching position for former NC State assistant Obe Blanc at North Dakota State. The Always Aggressive crew returns for the first podcast of the offseason recapping an incredible tournament run for Purdue at the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Tulsa, Okla. An exclamation point on an incredible year. Head coach Tony Ersland talks about bringing home two All-Americans, the program's first national placewinners since 2013, and all that the Boilermakers were able to accomplish in Tulsa. The usual podcast trio breakdown the tournament runs for the four Purdue wrestlers, all of whom came away with at least one win. The bulk of the conversation centered around the two podium climbers, Matt Ramos and Parker Filius. Ersland spoke to the work ethic and longevity of Filius, who earned his All-American honors in his sixth and final year with the program. After breaking down Filius' impact, the guys talked about the incredible run to the national finals for Ramos. The cardiac kid put together an incredibly entertaining tournament on his way to becoming the 13th finalist in program history.  Finally, Ersland and company wrap up with a discussion of the different conversations they've had with fans and strangers alike in the days since the tournament ended.

Nate Jackson and his wife, Raychelle, became parents at a very young age. And after that they refocused their goals and set out to accomplish everything one step at a time. Now, Jackson has his eyes set on his goals of fighting an injury to claim a spot on this year's US World Team and win a world title.
