Full Episode Transcript [NOTE: This is a machine generated transcript, a more human one is coming later today] Speaker 1 Welcome to Marvel Vision podcast about Marvel MCU and specifically right now one division, I’m. Speaker 2 Alex Justin come at you live from the most adult Marvel place I can. Speaker 2 Daughters bedroom that. Speaker 4 The Unicorn balloon popping in the background. Speaker 4 We are ready to go. Speaker 1 So here’s what we’re fighting about taping these early episodes before we get in and talk about Episode 8 previously on, and this will give you enough time to go watch the episode. Speaker 1 Check it out, because we’re going to spoil the heck. Speaker 1 Elevated but yeah, taping this early in the morning. Speaker 1 Sometimes you tape stuff right into his bedroom. Speaker 3 Yep. Speaker 1 Sometimes one of you. Speaker 1 Pete oversleeps. Speaker 2 Could be that baby. Speaker 4 Could be more Marvel. Speaker 2 Vision is what happens when you get up is too early in the morning on a Friday to watch TV you have to develop Marvel vision. Speaker 1 Exactly, but as in case that wasn’t totally clear, Pete, our third Member did in fact oversleep. Speaker 1 So we are taping this without him. Speaker 1 I’m sure he will have many thoughts. Speaker 1 Once he finally wakes up luxuriously at 10:00 AM. Speaker 1 As his brunch breakfast, he usually has five eggs and two biscuits I believe. Speaker 2 Yeah, keep everyone thinks is early. I’m up like 545 in the morning everyday. Just check and see if Wanda vision is but premiered even on a Monday or Tuesday. My calisthenics prepare my farm fresh breakfast that I sent out to Pete. Speaker 1 Uh, I’ll tell you what I did sleep last night. Speaker 1 Basically I just kept waiting. Speaker 1 Yup, and now I’m totally jazzed because the title the episode was previously on, and I guessed it, I called it. Speaker 2 I was gonna say like Alex credit to you and so you couldn’t sleep because you were so excited about getting the title. Speaker 1 Right, I was nervous. Speaker 1 Honestly, like I was lying there, my brain going up with like well, what if it has this other title? Speaker 1 Whatever the other title. Speaker 1 What if I get it wrong this? Speaker 1 It’s not going to be previously. Speaker 1 This is going to damage my reputation for real. Speaker 2 Your shattered reputation. Speaker 2 You’ve never guessed correctly yet so far. Speaker 2 Far so I did. Speaker 2 Speaker 2 So this is great. Speaker 1 Get I do get now in color, so at this point I have a two out of eight which is 25%, which is like I’m going to say what B + A. Is that how that works out great wise? Speaker 2 I believe that’s how grading works. Speaker 2 It’s been so long. Speaker 2 Let me ask. Speaker 2 One of my daughters that will no doubt be bursting in here any minute. Speaker 1 Let’s see what other shout out that I want to make an actual shout out before we get in and talk about the episode. Speaker 1 Shout out to Rachel Thompson, who plays Major Goodner on the show, popped up in the last episode, watched her last episode on YouTube, posted a little clip on her Twitter and was very nice about it. Speaker 2 Yes. Speaker 1 So thank you for that. Speaker 1 That was a very cool surprise. Speaker 2 We called her out as the big reveal, which she clearly was because she’s such a nice person. Speaker 1 There you go. Speaker 1 Surprise people are nice. Speaker 1 Sometimes. Speaker 1 Let’s get into this episode. Speaker 1 This is a big one. Speaker 1 The overall plot, as you can probably guess from the title. Speaker 1 And also hopefully again, watching it because the best. Speaker 2 From watching us, actually, when it’s not called a guest when we just watch something and then. Speaker 2 Know it. Speaker 1 That’s very true. This big reveal episode. We walk through Wanda’s entire history with the MQ, get a bunch of red cons there thanks to Agatha Harkness, Kathryn Hahn officially playing which. Speaker 2 The ultimate gas. Speaker 1 Like straight. Speaker 1 Not like I’m a science, which but I’m a witch, which I think. Speaker 5 Yes. Speaker 2 Cackling Salem based witch. Speaker 1 Yeah, walk her through a history therapy style to try to find out how Wanda pulled off the hex and a lot of the things that we thought were true. Speaker 1 Turn out to be true. Speaker 1 We were talking about this actually before we came on South. Speaker 1 Let’s broad strokes before we get into any specifics. Speaker 1 Easter eggs, theories or anything like. Speaker 1 That how do you feel about this? Speaker 2 I thought it was good. Speaker 2 I like the the sort of areas that this shows covering. Speaker 2 I like the back story they’re building for for Scarlet Witch and sort of vision by the end of this episode, lands in an interesting place. Speaker 2 I did think it was interesting that the big reveal by the. Speaker 2 End of the episode is sort of just knowledge we already had. Speaker 2 You know what I mean? Speaker 2 Like to hear her be like you’re the Scarlet Witch is like yeah, we know. Speaker 2 Really. Speaker 2 Speaker 2 It’s why we showed up here. Speaker 1 Well, The funny thing about that end note if we want to jump ahead to that last thing is. Speaker 1 For comic book fads I, I’m sure there’s three levels of this almost right, like there’s comic book fans of like. Speaker 1 Yes, we’ve been calling you Scarlet Witch. Speaker 1 Even if you’ve been calling yourself Wanda Maximoff, so we know who you are from the comic books. Speaker 1 There’s also MCU fans have been waiting for her to be called Scarlet Witch, and I’m sure a bunch of them were, like, oh **** they said it. OK. Speaker 1 They said the words. Speaker 1 So probably totally work for them. Speaker 1 And then there’s the dad comic book. Speaker 1 Fans are like I don’t know what that means. Speaker 2 Yeah, is that a big deal? Speaker 2 It’s scary. Speaker 1 Yes. Speaker 5 What? Speaker 1 Which is fine. Speaker 1 It’s all fine, but I I don’t know. Speaker 1 I think what I liked about this episode is sometimes the reveals don’t have to be. Speaker 1 It was Mephisto all the time or 30 layers of Easter eggs. Speaker 1 One of the things the show I think has been doing really well is this been layering in like we talked about here on the podcast. Speaker 1 Lots of different things all the time. Speaker 1 Different layers of Easter eggs for sit, Cubs for MCU for Marvel Comics for everything. Speaker 1 Some of them are just like color, you know, and some of them mean something. Speaker 1 But in this episode. Speaker 1 Word like they’ve been doing all along. Speaker 1 They’ve kind of just been telling us what’s been happening. Speaker 1 You know it’s more about the outside world has been pulling it apart like we’ve been doing here. Speaker 1 When the show has been pretty straight up about what’s happening. Speaker 2 Yeah, I mean, I think that’s sort of what Marvel does really well is there’s like no, we have a story we’re telling an we’re going to give you a little tangential. Speaker 2 TIS is to light you up like the Quicksilver casting, I think. Speaker 2 Just let everybody on fire when really it’s just like. Speaker 2 I think that was what it was designed to do in the in the in, at least in this story. Uh huh. Speaker 2 I mean, maybe it’s going to be a way of dipping into the multiverse by having that be the choice there as a larger plot choice, but I respect the move just as a like fun nod or poke to the fan base to be like, whoa, that. Speaker 2 They’re doing it. Speaker 2 They’re doing the thing that they aren’t doing yet, but it got us, you know. Speaker 5 What? Speaker 1 To give a little behind the scenes of that, there was a talk that Kevin Fiege, the head of Marvel Studios, did with the Television Critics Association this. Speaker 1 Last week, and for those who don’t know, this is a Trade Organization. Speaker 1 The panels are very weird. Speaker 1 They’re not like Comic Con panels or anything. Speaker 1 It’s basically just now virtually, but the people sitting there taking question after question a question from press, so that’s it. Speaker 1 It’s not about announcements or trailers or anything, but he did give some really good interesting information about the process of Wanda vision. Speaker 1 And to the things he mentioned, one Evan Peters was very early on. Speaker 1 He said that they blew Sky everything. Speaker 1 So they did talk about Allen, Terrell Johnson, but ultimately decided you know what this Evan Peters thing? Speaker 1 If we can pull it off, this is going to be the right thing for the show. Speaker 1 But the other thing he said is exactly what you’re saying that they felt like. Speaker 1 If they’re going to do weekly TV shows, this is their chance to try to create weekly conversation, the same way that they do weekend conversation. Speaker 1 When they release a movie. Speaker 1 So he was. Speaker 2 And by next year there will be a Marvel TV show every week and MTV in a feature film every weekend. Speaker 2 So it truly will be our entire lives. Speaker 5 Oh my God, I love it. Speaker 5 Bring it out. Speaker 5 I love you. Speaker 4 I’m dying. Speaker 1 Respect that I respect the fact that they were very specific about we want to give people something to talk about between the episodes, and I think that’s really nice. Speaker 1 The other thing that I really liked about this episode that I’m curious to get your take on this, is the one that hit me emotionally the hardest, like there were a couple of times where I got really teared up in this episode and I haven’t felt that same way throughout the show, but now it has enough weight not just with the movies in the MCU, but also with the TV show that I feel like we’ve appropriately. Speaker 1 Gotten to that place. Speaker 2 Yeah, and I would. Speaker 2 I also give them credit for is they this story like the the format or the structure of it like is pretty like we could see that coming once the episode started, but they do a great job of sort of like upsetting our expectation like. Speaker 2 When when Wanda finally sees the visions body in Haywards lab, you think up this is it? Speaker 2 She’s gonna lose it an I just love the choice they had of her like touching his head and being like there’s nothing of him here. Speaker 2 I don’t feel him here and then walking off and like oh it’s not it and then we see her emotional breakdown at the. Speaker 2 In Westview at the lot where they the house they were going to build and that so that it’s just so much harder because they they got us one one step later and again with the same thing with the the parents like. Speaker 2 You think you’re gonna get this nice quote? Speaker 2 Unquote vision of her childhood life. Speaker 2 And then it’s upset. Speaker 2 Immediately heartbreaking they didn’t even have to show us the actual like parents loss then being gone, it would just we see Wanda instantly. Speaker 2 Sort of fixing her trauma with her powers. Speaker 1 Yeah, that was the first one that really got me specifically because we know the stark bomb is so when they have that pause where she? Speaker 1 Watching the sitcom I was like, oh it’s coming. Speaker 1 Oh, this is so sad. Speaker 1 And just having her and pietrele under the bed with the bomb, knowing that we’ve heard this story but never seen it before. Speaker 3 And. Speaker 3 Speaker 1 Awful. Speaker 1 The other scene that I thought was really wonderful. Speaker 1 We didn’t get a lot of vision in this episode. Speaker 1 Obviously there’s a big reveal with the vision at the end of the episode that we should probably talk about at some point, but the scene post Age of Ultron probably like concurrent with Civil War, right before they really started there. Speaker 1 A relationship or anything like that I thought was great. Speaker 5 Hey Ed. Speaker 1 Just the stuff that they’re talking about there about grief being another form of love I thought was really smart and pointed and very nice. Speaker 2 Yeah, and it really. Speaker 2 It made their romance real and I I’m assuming in the last episode we’re going to get a lot of that sort of payoff or feel how they actually feel for each other. Speaker 2 But this was such a great little ’cause we’ve never really seen too much of this in the movies we got with them together. Speaker 2 And just like fighting. Speaker 2 But never did we see them like have any sort of real super sweet moment since it was just the high emotion of the them being together and then the loss. Speaker 5 Better. Speaker 2 So this was really great. Speaker 2 I think it really helped set up what I assume is going to be the big emotional payoff. Speaker 1 Yeah, I agree. Speaker 1 And to that point, I think a lot of Marvel fans all along have been like at me for Elizabeth Olsen, which she’s great. Speaker 1 She’s been doing a great job, everything is was super fun, but I haven’t necessarily felt that. Speaker 1 I think this, if anything, is the Emmy submission episode for her because there’s so many different emotions and modes that she walks through here. Speaker 2 Well, and then again it’s obviously submit for the rabbit for the pet. Speaker 2 The pet Emmys for eating that. Speaker 5 Yeah. Speaker 1 Which are on The CW I. Speaker 2 Believe yeah 100% for eating that ******* bug that rabbit eats bugs. Speaker 1 I guess rabbits eat bugs. Speaker 1 I had a rabbit, but I don’t remember it eating flies. Speaker 2 Good, I thought you were gonna say yes, rabbit bugs. Speaker 2 I guess I had a rabbit. Speaker 2 I fed it bugs all the time. Speaker 2 I’m a sociopath. Speaker 1 Yeah. Speaker 1 Boy, should we talk about some of these red cons here, because this is a big big change to want her origin. Speaker 1 What we get here like we talked about Agatha straight up, which at the Salem witch trials sucked her whole covered dry. Speaker 4 Suck the coven. Speaker 5 Covered something covered. Speaker 4 Hey, welcome to Marvel vision. Speaker 4 In the morning we got a sucking coven today and we’re gonna be here in the Marvel V. Speaker 4 Marvel. Speaker 4 Speaker 5 Is it no? Speaker 5 I’m sucking up by coming right now. Speaker 2 That’s coffee, my man, that I thought this opening scene was great. Speaker 2 Wow Disney Disney Plus mug really compromising your journalistic integrity to kick off this breakdown of the episode, that’s it. Speaker 1 I got the distinct glass mug. Speaker 1 Yeah, nothing more. Speaker 1 I’ll tell you what, nothing more journalistic that a Marvel podcast that we excited comic book fans woke up early in the morning. Speaker 1 To do. Speaker 2 It’s just very funny. Speaker 2 That was like a Wayne’s World moment of the person reviewing the thing being like Cheers Disney blood. Speaker 2 Yeah, I thought this opening sequence is great. Speaker 2 Kathryn Hahn. Speaker 2 I was imagining them filming this and she’s being zapped by a bunch of invisible CGI enerji and she has to play the like the pain of it and then instantly switch it to like ha ha I got you. Speaker 2 I’m stuck in your dry coven. Speaker 1 Now why is that? Speaker 1 Because I had that thought pretty much all episode 2. Speaker 1 Maybe it’s because Kathryn Hahn comes from indie films and is sort of known as like this quirk. Speaker 1 The background or foreground, potentially person, but we haven’t seen her at a big budget thing like this necessarily. Speaker 1 Maybe that’s it, but it’s definitely all episode I was like. Speaker 1 Matt, it’s great that they got Catherine hard to. Speaker 2 Do this well. Speaker 2 I also think she’s just really good and the NRJ she brings. Speaker 2 She brings this sort of the meme going around. Speaker 2 The winking NRG to so many of our roles where it feels like she’s looking at us. Speaker 2 Being like, here’s the crazier I’m in this movie TV show. Speaker 2 I’m acting here and and I think that’s what it is. Speaker 2 The fact that she gets too. Speaker 2 She has a real life. Speaker 2 Audience surrogate power to her, and if she’s just great to watch an, she’s even despite the fact that she’s playing big in this episode, she’s like every line is like, well, my pretty. Speaker 2 I certainly have captured you this time at and and she still lands it an like even at the end when she’s in full like. Speaker 2 Hair styled, which regalia it’s like. Speaker 1 Yeah yeah, Oh my God, those eyebrows were out of. Speaker 5 Controls Speaker 2 Control yeah, I mean I got him right here so I’m pretty psyched to see him on screen. Speaker 1 This is the first time you see yourself on screen. Speaker 2 I really see myself eyebrow. Speaker 2 Hi Brian. Speaker 2 Speaker 1 Yeah, so she was great. Speaker 1 Love the walkthroughs here. Speaker 1 The big recom of with Wanda I was about to say Scarlet Witch is that she had these which powers all along. Speaker 1 And the mindstone Speaker 2 You love saying all along, by the way, ever since last ever. Speaker 1 I I get that all along. Speaker 2 Yeah, it’s I’m talking about believing I’ve seen the tweets, Alex, we we know you like it. Speaker 1 It is it. Speaker 1 I like it. Speaker 1 I enjoy the song. Speaker 1 It really is like my resting state. Speaker 1 Now is Agatha all along playing in my head and it’s driving me a little insane. Speaker 2 That’s deadly, that’s deadly. Speaker 1 But yeah, but when there was had these, which powers from the beginning, that’s what Agatha is kind of walking her through, and the mindstone really only amped them up quite a bit. Speaker 1 What do you think about that record? Speaker 2 I mean, that’s mutant, right? Speaker 1 I think. Speaker 1 Speaker 2 I think that’s being a mutant I tech. Speaker 2 I mean it is. Speaker 2 It feels weird to say that like is this it, but it is in the comic books. Speaker 2 That’s what it is. Speaker 2 Like your powers come to you. Speaker 2 I mean, we didn’t get to see Quicksilver be very fast here and his youth, but. Uh huh. Speaker 2 But I do think this could easily be it. Speaker 2 It’s not, it’s not a it’s what they showed us, they just didn’t tell us. Speaker 1 Well, for those who don’t haven’t read the comics, and this is certainly changed a lot through X men and Marvel continuity, but initially it was always like this puberty thing around the age that Wanda and Pietro are. Speaker 1 When the bomb hits, there’s a stressful situation and it activates your powers that it is this metaphor for puberty. Speaker 1 Again, it’s been a lot of different things throughout the years, but I think that’s what you’re hitting on here. Speaker 1 Justin and I, I think that’s kind of what they do. Speaker 1 Like you’re saying, without saying it. Speaker 1 It’s interesting if they call it witch powers or something like that instead of mutants. I mean there’s a what is it? 1608 is the Neil Gabe book where they call it the Witch Mark or the Witch Hex? Yeah, or something like that. Instead of being powers. Speaker 2 But I don’t know how you explain Quicksilver if you’re going. Speaker 5 Right? Speaker 2 If you’re going to do this for Wanda, it doesn’t make sense for him to have which speed or whatever, so I think like a witchy amount of. Speaker 4 So and you. Speaker 1 That was a weird thing I think I think, probably for story reasons. Speaker 1 Keeping it focused on what division they did and didn’t get into it too much. Speaker 1 But I agree with you, I was definitely in that scene where Wanda came. Speaker 1 It is like her which powers are. Speaker 1 Call it out the mindstone. Speaker 1 Here it goes. Speaker 1 Wait what happened with Pietro when he walked him in. Speaker 2 Yeah yeah yeah. Speaker 2 And or or maybe they didn’t put him in that room. Speaker 2 I don’t know. Speaker 2 Yeah there were a little questions there, but I I I don’t think they could even at all touch on them because it would have been too much of a distraction both storywise and also getting us into all these questions of like what does this mean for? Speaker 2 For the X men in the Marvel Universe, and even if they will start to classify Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as mutants going forward. Speaker 1 Well, the other thing that it does really nicely is it reminds us that Scarlet Witch and Vision’s powers are tide together by the Mind Stone which they’ve been kind of bumping around a little bit. They certainly mentioned it a couple of times but. Speaker 1 It gives out that very clear line and honestly I was thankful for that because this is a very stupid thing, but I constantly find it confusing that Loki Scepter, which was blue, was holding the mindstone which is yellow. Speaker 2 And they did a good job today. Speaker 2 Being like remember this guys. Speaker 2 I know this is weird but we made this movie before we had it really figured out what we were doing. Speaker 2 Like someone, someone in the FX was like let’s make this staff blue and they’re like cool. Speaker 2 I love how it looks and then later they were like **** it has to be the mindstone we’re gonna do here and so I appreciate that it like he cracks and we see a vision of the vision. Speaker 5 Yeah. Speaker 2 Through the yellow of the mindstone. Speaker 2 Now let me throw this out to you. Speaker 2 Does this mean does this call into question their feelings for each other at all? Speaker 2 The fact that the vision is made is the mindstone an she was influenced by the Mind Stone. Speaker 2 Here is. Speaker 2 Is it real love they have between them or is it just the mind Stone connection acting on on her? Speaker 1 Oh, that’s interesting. Speaker 1 I hadn’t really thought about that. Speaker 1 I. Speaker 1 I think it’s real love. Speaker 1 I think we gotta kind of go with that at this point, but certainly that Mindstone could have created some sort of initial connection with them, because usually you don’t fall in love with a robot. Speaker 2 That’s true. Speaker 2 I mean, I’ve been in and out of a lot of robot based relationships, but that’s just me. Speaker 2 But I also sort of encountering them early on. Speaker 1 Right, well then they were all they were all like not love like you understand the Big L word I think. Speaker 1 You never know. Speaker 1 Speaker 2 Exactly, we didn’t get that far, especially in robot robot years. Speaker 2 But I do think that’s an interesting question that could be posed. Speaker 2 ’cause I agree with you. Speaker 2 Like we obviously want them to have a real relationship with real love, but I think that’s maybe something to call into question. Speaker 2 Whatever the villain, whoever the villain ends up being in this series. Speaker 2 Because I do think despite all the Agatha love. Speaker 1 You really think there’s somebody else other than Agatha? Speaker 2 I mean, I don’t want like when in the scene with Hayward when he’s pushing Scarlet Witch with the body of the vision. Speaker 5 Yeah. Speaker 2 He’s clearly pushing her into a trauma reaction moment, like he’s not just being like Oh no. Speaker 2 You’ve seen you’ve seen our horrible experiment. Speaker 2 He is pushing her to crack there. Speaker 2 I think, and maybe I’m reading too much into the scene, like did you not think that because the way he’s talking to her and the way he’s like? Speaker 2 Go ahead go down there, touch it like it was. Speaker 2 Like this person is doing this purposefully. Speaker 1 I could see that I don’t. Speaker 1 I don’t think he’s an ultimate big villain. Speaker 1 I know you’ve been on the Hayward being pretty much this entire time. Speaker 1 I do think he’s still a corporate **** but he’s not able to activate vision, right? Speaker 1 Maybe Scarlet Witch will be able to do that. Speaker 1 That’s potentially why he’s pushing her there. Speaker 1 Maybe he does want her to crack so he can throw her into custody of the DI sector as well. Speaker 1 I really think he is just. Speaker 1 Corporate **** straight out of the movies, and that’s pretty much it. Speaker 2 So then let me ask you this. Speaker 2 This is like getting into the meta outside of the show commentary, but a couple of actors have said oh, there’s this big actor who we’re going to see in this series. Speaker 2 So you’re telling me you don’t think that’s happening or that? Speaker 1 No. Speaker 1 Speaker 1 One, I’ll tell you what I think is happening there. Speaker 1 That was Paul Bettany specifically. Speaker 1 It was like. Speaker 1 There’s an actor I’ve always wanted to work with. Speaker 1 We have some really. Speaker 1 I don’t think use the word meaty, but some really meaty scenes that we have together. Speaker 1 I think the actor he was talking about was Paul Bettany. Speaker 2 Oh, really. Speaker 1 I I that is 100% my theory right now, I don’t think we’re going to get another cabio the reveal at the end of the episode of the mid credits, which we could probably get more into. The comic book Origins this, but Hayward has been able to rebuild visions body as we saw he is activating it using the HEX NRG from. Speaker 1 That Scarlet Witch left on the drone that he sent in a couple of episodes back and we gave this white vision reveal this evil vision. Speaker 2 The ghost vision. Speaker 1 If you will ghost vision. Speaker 1 And that’s straight out of there was a are called Vision Quest from West Coast Avengers by John Byrne. I think it was issues 42 to 50. I did double check that I wrote that data off of the volume but but that gives us like 2 very clear things that they pulled on for the series. There’s one. There’s the, at least for me as a kid dichotic Speaker 1 Shot of vision all spread out on a table that he’s been dissected. Speaker 1 As one discovers him, they rebuild him. Speaker 1 He comes back without color. Speaker 1 He’s completely white. Speaker 1 He doesn’t have his men. Speaker 1 Maries and Wanda is just had kids, so that and you probably love this. Speaker 1 Justin clears the way for Wonderman to profess his feelings for Wanda and that. Speaker 2 Yes, this division is like an emotionless ghost essentially, and that sort of thing. Speaker 1 Yeah, he’s like, yeah, he’s like I have no interest in my family. Speaker 1 Go ahead date Wonder Man we have the same brain patterns. Speaker 1 It’s complicated. Speaker 1 Don’t worry about it. Speaker 2 About it, don’t ask us any follow up questions about that, but I like Wonder Man as a character. Speaker 2 He in the in the comics. Speaker 2 He’s also been powered up in sort of the same way that Scarlet Witch has in in this series, so. Speaker 2 I don’t know if there’s any real appetite for Wonder Man out there in the world. Speaker 2 The the famously an actor who’s also a superhero what? Speaker 1 Come on, that’s crazy. Speaker 1 Yeah yeah, but to that point when we get that reveal at the end of the white vision, evil vision, Ghost vision, whatever you want to call him, I I think what we were talking about going to this last episode. Speaker 1 I don’t think we’re dressed suddenly. Speaker 1 Have Al Pacino pop up as Mephisto or anything like that. Speaker 1 I think it’s Paul Bettany finally getting to act opposite Paul Bettany and he was tricking everybody the entire time. Speaker 2 Wow, it was Ben Neil. Speaker 2 Wow. Speaker 2 It was betony all along is what you’re saying. Speaker 1 Great caveat. Speaker 2 I mean, that’s ******** If he’s going to get away with saying that about himself. Speaker 1 Yeah. Speaker 2 I feel like there’s going to be one more reveal. Speaker 2 You really don’t think so. Speaker 1 Yeah, no I I don’t get me wrong. Speaker 1 I think we’re still gonna have. Speaker 2 You got this is Marvel. Speaker 2 Like there’s gonna be another reveal. I. Speaker 1 I think we still have if we want to talk about this stuff after the episode, and there’s still plenty to talk about in the episode, but. Speaker 1 But we got Monica and Jimmy out there outside the hex, working with good new. Oh sorry, Monica is inside that in Monica’s in the hex, she’s been taken by Fiat. Rio really did appreciate them pushing that hashtag to be honest with you. This is in Riverdale. You can’t. Speaker 2 Mine is in the hex, yeah? Speaker 2 That proton power. Speaker 2 Do that wow OK wow strong. Speaker 2 Interconnexion Multiverse of madness of our podcasts, but yes. Speaker 5 Yes. Speaker 5 Speaker 1 But so she’s there. Speaker 1 We don’t know what’s going on with her. Speaker 1 Jimmy is outside with major good there and the rest. Speaker 1 Hayward obviously is planning an attack with White Vision. Speaker 1 And then you have Darcy is with. Speaker 1 VO vision like he’s not even real. Speaker 1 He was created inside the hacks, so there’s a lot of stuff going on there to throw another character into the mix. Speaker 1 I think is a lot given how much focus we’ve had on the characters of the show so far. Speaker 1 But I do think we’re going to see like. Speaker 1 Doctor Strange by the end of the show, right, showing up and being like, hey, you gotta come over here we gotta take this book and figure out what’s going on or something like that. Speaker 2 You you think we’re gonna get Doctor Strange is the reveal. Speaker 2 See to me that feels. Speaker 2 I I understand why that makes a lot of sense, but that’s not even a surprise reveal at this point because we all know. Speaker 2 The Doctor Strange is like the next chess move here, right? Speaker 1 Well that’s what I’m saying is like we were talking about right at the beginning, I don’t think. Speaker 5 It. Speaker 1 They’re not as much as we’ve been dissecting the show and looking for surprises, and there have been some really fun too. Speaker 1 Tests a lot of this stuff is very predictable, like very purposely show I keep going back to what was it. Speaker 1 The second episode where they talk about the magic trick and they say you gotta lay it out for everybody. Speaker 1 You gotta show them what the workings are so that they know an I think that was given away the whole structure of the show. Speaker 2 Yeah, but on the other side of the magic trick, it can’t just be like and that’s everything I just told you I was going to do data. Speaker 5 Yes. Speaker 2 There’s usually a surprise in there somewhere. Speaker 1 Yes, I don’t know. Speaker 1 Maybe we’ll see somebody else show up, but I think bringing in Doctor Strange for the end makes sense. Speaker 1 We’ll have obviously a post credit scene or two, I think, frankly. Speaker 1 Given the that they were doing mid credit scenes for the last two episodes, I guess we’re probably going to see an actual end credits scene after that teeing up. Speaker 1 Doctor Strange Two or Spiderman three or something like that. Speaker 1 That wouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Speaker 1 Maybe even three. Speaker 1 I don’t know. Speaker 1 Maybe we’ll see multiple post credit sequences. Speaker 2 I mean, that’s that’s the real Marvel way. Speaker 1 Yeah, just really surprised people. Speaker 1 Maybe a Falcon and Winter Soldier will show up and be like we got a. Speaker 1 Series next two weeks from Now’s. Speaker 2 Stick around guys secretly. Speaker 1 Much less of the mysteries. Speaker 2 Yeah. Speaker 2 Yeah. Speaker 2 Speaker 1 We should probably talk about do we want to go through talk about other Easter eggs and things? Speaker 2 Yes, it is almost Easter and I know it’s time to to start finding last years stinky old eggs. Speaker 1 So one thing I do want to mention just for the previous episode, two things we missed a little bit that people pointed out in the YouTube comments. Speaker 1 In particular, if you’re listening to the podcast, by the way, we also have a visual YouTube version of this. Speaker 1 If you’re watching on YouTube, you already know that. Speaker 2 Nice job, you get the added bonus to seeing my children’s bunk beds in their extensive book collection. I think let’s not forget about this cute as lion oh. Speaker 1 Yeah. Speaker 1 Two things we missed though. The opening credits we called about is the office credits and the theme music was the office, but they were actually straight up off of Happy Endings, which is something we didn’t quite pick up on. There’s also a quick shot of the middle there of some very red substyle letters. Say. Why do we know what you are doing, which in retrospect is weird and I’m not 100% sure what was going on there. Speaker 2 Yeah, I mean, I wonder whose POV that’s from? Speaker 2 Is that a sword style observation? Right? Speaker 2 Is that someone in the town? Speaker 2 Is it a further reveal that we haven’t? Speaker 1 Gotten to yet, it might be the town. Speaker 1 I mean, we didn’t really talk about this yet, but there’s this great sequence where Wanda drives it to Westview. Speaker 1 It’s a piece of **** New Jersey town. Speaker 5 Wow Alex he. Speaker 3 Art fair. Speaker 1 Really is everybody is so sad there they’re having a bad. Speaker 2 Time they’re having a bad time, but mustache is giving piano lessons so he’s he’s still bringing the music. Speaker 1 Never mind. Speaker 1 The postman, who we’ve been very suspicious of, turns out to be a pizza delivery boy. Speaker 2 Yeah, I know after all that he’s just like Nope, just bringing a calzone to something. Speaker 1 And then this. Speaker 5 Exactly. Speaker 1 And then Mrs. Speaker 1 Hart is also there. Speaker 1 She is sitting looking very sad at a cafe, so we get a couple of senses of them which I thought was interesting. Speaker 1 Other stuff that I wrote down is like not necessarily Easter Eggy things that I thought were interesting. Speaker 1 We get the switch to the Purple Marvel logo at the beginning to tee up. Speaker 1 Agatha back in Salem 1693. I like the little twist of that scene too of everybody gathering her up and then who turns out to be her mom saying are you a witch? Speaker 1 Well, good, basically there’s a nice little twist on that sort of seed. Speaker 2 That was just a great scene in general. Speaker 2 I mean, I think talking about the switch from Agatha Agatha Harkness in the comics is just like sort of an old grandma who’s like, well, this is a problem, and in the show she is super powerful and like a real villain. Speaker 1 I love the lion it where she says please I could be good and her mom says no you can’t and then tries to shut her down. Speaker 1 What do you think they were trying to do where they try to kill her where they’re trying to bind terror? Speaker 1 What do you think was happening in that season? Speaker 2 I think they were. Speaker 2 I mean, if she was able to suck their powers out, I feel like yeah, it was like she the other which is were sort of going to suck her powers out and vanish her like basically killer. Speaker 2 I to me it was like oh they’re burning her at the stake. Speaker 2 If this was the Salem witch trials, it wasn’t actually humans trying. Speaker 2 Which is it? Speaker 2 Was which is trying which is. Speaker 2 Yeah I want one which remains Supreme. Speaker 1 Yeah. Speaker 1 We get a little glimpse. Speaker 1 I wrote this down we get a glimpse of ruins. Speaker 1 I’m not a really big rude guy so I couldn’t necessarily read them. Speaker 1 But there was one. Speaker 2 OK, you seem like a rune guy. Speaker 1 I know here if you look over there, I have my rune lab, I don’t. Speaker 1 Know what it is, I’m sorry. Speaker 2 That’s a pornographic drawing that you have on your wall. Speaker 1 Oh I’m sorry well. Speaker 1 The there was clearly an M logo was one of those routes. Speaker 1 It might have been a typical rude. Speaker 1 It wasn’t like straight up House of M logo, which is something that’s mildly imply inspired the show, but that seemed pretty blatant to me that to have that big M There either for mutant or for Magneto or something like that again, might just be an Easter egg versus a clue, but. Speaker 1 I thought that was pretty obvious. Speaker 2 What’s the difference in Easter egg in a clue really? Speaker 1 A clue is something that indicates an upcoming plot point and Easter egg is just a fun thing that is there. Thanks for right. Speaker 2 Very funny. Speaker 2 Very fine line, I think in this. Speaker 2 Speaker 1 Show, yeah, like I don’t celebrate Easter, but Easter eggs usually just lead to nothing, right? Speaker 2 No, I’ve solved a lot of murders based on the stuff I found. Speaker 1 Oh, OK. Speaker 2 I saw that let me just say I’ve solved a lot of murders, like too many for a normal person, you know. Speaker 1 OK. Speaker 1 Uh, also we got a couple of shout outs. Speaker 1 The comics we got one did a probability hex, which is something that she does in the comics also by the end we find out that she has chaos magic, which is again something that she messes around with way too much in the card. Speaker 1 Books also an interesting note. Speaker 1 I thought we kind of speculated what was going on with the commercials. Speaker 1 Yes, that maybe the commercial people were parents. Speaker 1 They’re not her parents. Speaker 2 No, I think they do a good job of illustrating that in this episode that they were just for those dramatic moments. Speaker 2 Like I love the way when the red light starts to flash in the on the missile. Speaker 2 The stark bomb. Speaker 2 I was like yes, direct connection to that first episode. Speaker 2 The commercial there and the stress of that combined with the like, oh, you’re. Speaker 2 Feeling her stress from watching that commercial version of it in that that first episode I thought was was great. Speaker 1 But I guess then the commercial people are just more people trapped in Westview at this point. Speaker 2 Yeah, I, I guess that’s probably on a logistic point of view, but I guess for me the commercials then are sort of the the hurt or broken parts of her psyche as a as a break from the the part that she’s made beautiful how she wants. Speaker 2 It’s the darker part emerging. Speaker 5 In the middle of it, a couple of other. Speaker 2 Just like how commercials are evil parts of television who? Speaker 2 Help. Speaker 2 Speaker 1 Exactly, yeah, that’s why I have my TiVo so I can skip the commercials. Speaker 1 You’re a witch. Speaker 2 In a way. Speaker 1 Absolutely, that’s their tagline, right? Speaker 2 Yeah. Speaker 1 Steve? Speaker 2 Hey. Speaker 1 Oh, now you’re a witch. Speaker 1 At the other little club, a little things we didn’t really talk about the sitcoms we were, I think, correct about that that she used to watch them in Sokovia. Speaker 1 And that’s exactly where that comes from. Speaker 1 That’s her comfort place. Speaker 1 That’s why she goes there with the Hex, which I thought was great. Speaker 1 And I love seeing the scenes. Speaker 1 For the people who didn’t really pick up on the one to one of like *** **** Van Dyke Show or Malcolm in the middle, but all of those scenes are straight up in the show, there’s one scene with a doll. Speaker 1 That doll is in there at some point. Speaker 1 The thing with what’s his name? Speaker 1 Bryan Cranston? Speaker 1 Getting watching the thing collapsed. Speaker 1 That was in one of the opening credits as well so. Speaker 1 All that stuff is right there. Speaker 1 I thought that was great. Speaker 1 I also love from the MCU perspective that they layered in The Avengers music in this episode, which we haven’t really heard, which was pretty cool and fun and I I think that’s all I wrote down. Speaker 1 Did you have anything else you wanted to chat about? Speaker 2 I think that covers a lot ofe. Speaker 5 I think that. Speaker 5 Speaker 2 Yeah, I think that’s that’s I think we touched on it just sort of as we went around. Speaker 2 did I mention that the rabbit eats bugs? Speaker 5 God. Speaker 5 OK. Speaker 5 Speaker 1 What do you think is going on is singular, scratchy? Speaker 1 Is he just a familiar? Speaker 1 Is that it? Speaker 1 Or is he Al Pacino’s Mephisto? These Al Pacino 100% last shot of the show is going to be said. You are scratchy. Speaker 2 And he’s Al Pacino out of that. Speaker 5 Say what yeah, well, you didn’t think I’d be, did you? Speaker 5 Here. Speaker 5 Speaker 5 I can go into any role. Speaker 5 I was the devil once. Mobile. Speaker 5 Now I’m a rabbit. Speaker 5 I was also the bug ha who are? Speaker 1 Before we wrap up here what is on your vision board for the final episode of 1 Division Justin, what do you want to see? Speaker 2 I think we’re going to get a massive fight. Speaker 2 I think we’re going to see Monica Rambeau really come into power setting her up for Captain Marvel too. Speaker 2 I’m very curious where we end up with for Scarlet Witch. Speaker 2 I feel like perhaps she’s going to be lost. Speaker 2 In oh, one other thing I want to talk about. Speaker 2 We got the word Nexus last episode, which it doesn’t touch on really anything in wanders past, so that makes me feel like it’s sort of where we’re going is started, which can be lost in the Nexus Nexus of all realities. Speaker 5 Weather The. Speaker 1 Potentially I mean, I, I think we talked about that last episode, I. Speaker 1 Take something, some sort of like your sag. Speaker 1 Maybe it’s a movie length episode, potentially. Speaker 1 Maybe we get something enormous fight. Speaker 1 They certainly teased. Speaker 1 That’s one of the biggest things Marvel has ever done. Speaker 1 Maybe a terror that is the thing that actually tears a hole in the fabric of reality that sends off all this multi verse stuff in Doctor Strange Two and Spiderman 3. Speaker 1 So we’re not really dealing with that in the show, but the after effects of what happens with the Agatha at and Wanda Battle is potentially the thing that leads to that. Speaker 1 The other thing that I think we kind of glanced over a little bit, that I think is super important. Speaker 1 For the last step. Speaker 1 Said is the Wanda vision relationship. Speaker 1 Like I think we’re the big thing that we’re going to get is this now we know non real vision who is created by Wanda in the hex is going to have to tell her. Speaker 1 Let me go. Speaker 1 You have to let go and move on with your life. Speaker 1 You have to move past this grief. Speaker 1 So I think we’ll have potentially white vision going forward in some way, but it’s not going to be the Wanda vision relationship we know, and Wanda is then going to go forward throughout the movies. Speaker 2 Yeah, I’d be curious if we’re if the vision will will stick around. Speaker 2 I like the idea that the the ghostly vision is is a character that we encounter more and I feel like that emotional sadness. Speaker 2 I feel like every time will be like **** They were so happy when they were in TV. Speaker 2 So that an I still do think we’re going to get one more reveal despite your Paul Bettany theory and I know you’re riding high because you got previously on, right? Speaker 2 But I do think that will get that. Speaker 2 Did you have another theory you want to drop in? Speaker 1 Just about the title of the episode. I’ll throw it out there again. I have this really good track record at 25%. Speaker 2 And you’re facing board. Speaker 2 Yeah, 25% cocky confident. Speaker 1 But I think depending on what direction we go, it could be one of two titles for the last episode. Speaker 1 I think. Speaker 1 Either we’ll see we’ll be right back if there’s a little bit of a dot dot dot at the end of the episode, or alternately, it’ll be. Speaker 1 This ends our broadcast day. Speaker 2 Wow, I will say I think be right back or will be right back is really nice. Speaker 2 Also as a reference to the Black Mirror like one of the best Black Mirror episodes that they’ve made. Speaker 1 The big thing on my vision board, though I know we’re kind of going far afield of this very set section. Speaker 1 Of the show, the vision world setting. Speaker 2 Yes no, I know we really, really format breaking this episode. Speaker 1 Umm, but the big thing I do want to see is the emotional catharsis here, like even more than the superhero fights and agather going back to meta with wad and Ghost vision going against Hex vision or whatever we want to call him. Speaker 1 I think the big thing is I want to see what happens with Wanda and vision. Speaker 1 We also didn’t talk about Billy and Tommy at all. Speaker 1 Like the implication right now is. Speaker 1 As if vision can’t survive outside the hex, neither could Billy and Tommy, but I don’t think that’s true. Speaker 1 I think we’re going to see a reveal of teenage quote unquote billion tabi by the end of this, and that’s going to be one of the big things that Spurs us into somewhere down the road several years. Speaker 1 Young Avengers, but I I think we’re going to get actor reveal for both of them here. Speaker 2 And I bet we’re gonna get. Speaker 2 Yeah, the post credit sequence will be them sort of being either placed place for adoption or being separated and put into different lives. Speaker 2 And we’re going to just know who they are. Speaker 2 Really setting that sort of long term Easter egg for Young Avengers. Speaker 1 And that is it. Speaker 1 For Marvel Vision, we have one more episode here. Speaker 1 We’re going to get up even earlier and make Pete wake up even earlier. Speaker 2 Yes, we simply must. Speaker 1 Get into even weirder places when we take the episode. Speaker 1 So that’s going to be very exciting.
