MHW: 026 Supplements and why you need them
In this episode I teach you the difference between adaptogens, minerals, and vitamins. Your body needs all these supplements, but it’s important to know why. Unfortunately, we cannot rely on on our food to provide us with all the vitamins and minerals we need to function at our optimum health and wellness. In our family, we make sure to use the highest quality of supplements we can. We look at it as an investment in our health. Most FLEX or HSA programs will cover these items. Links: Podcast episode 006: Four popular food programs Podcast episode 001: My journey and the 5 Pillars of Health In this particular episode, you will learn: Why you need supplements as part of your health and wellness lifestyleThe differences between supplement types: Vitamins, Adaptogens, and Minerals. How to find out what your body is lacking and where to get quality supplements. Here are the supplements I take daily. I am in no way suggesting you take these exact supplements. These are what my health care team has determined are best for my body and health goals. Each one does something a little different. These collagen peptides dissolve into hot or cold beverages with no aftertaste. Collagen helps create strong bones, joints, and skin. It also reduces inflammation, and helps with hair and nail growth. Femigen is made by Youngliving and I have been taking it for years to help support balanced estrogen and progesterone levels in my body. Ashwaganda is an herb that is well known for reducing Cortisol levels (stress hormone), anxiety, stress, reducing inflammation, and aids in better sleep patterns. Probiotics are a must for everyone. The standard American Diet makes it very difficult to get the right balance of gut flora to aid in digestion. This particular brand contains additional Ashwaganda. doTerra’s Lifelong Vitality Pack contains Omega 3s and your daily dose of vitamins and minerals. What makes them unique is how your body absorbs them at the cellular level. A note on dosing: The company recommends 4 capsules of each per day. Working with my health team, we decided only 2 a day was necessary for me. Please consult your health team if you have questions. Natural Calm is the easiest way for me to get the magnesium I need each day. I have tried creams, oils, and capsules. Mixing this with hot water each night and drinking it is not only a pleasant experience, but it helps calm my brain so I can get to sleep. My children also take this as needed.
