How to Launch your Million Dollar Idea – MWTG: 012
Do this one simple thing to launch your million dollar idea. How I took Adtoons to the next level was is using the exact same technique I am going to share with you. When this idea came to me, I was literally down to my last idea. My idea was to take an animated cartoons and put it into a sales letter. At this time, we were being inundated with PowerPoint presentations that contained animation and it was SO BORING. So, I knew my idea could be successful and I thought to myself – how can I give this idea the best shot at success? It was then that I decided to approach a very successful client and present him with my idea. I followed up and followed up continuing to share new ways I came up with to make this idea be a win for him. Eventually, he went for it and it thankfully was a big success for both of us! Now – go find a heaver hitter marketer and serve that person first. See what they think, see if you can sell them on it. They’re always looking for new ways to position themselves. Help them implement your idea into their business. You want a big fish to serve in order to give your idea the best shot at success! Their connections, their exposure, their success – all of it can help you. [spp-tweet tweet=”How I took Adtoons to the next level is using the exact same technique I am going to share with you. – Vince Palko”] The idea could be anything – new products, news business idea, anything! Why I Love Cold Calling – MWTG: 010
Cold calling is a fundamental part of a small business – listen up to learn why. There are a lot of people that don’t like cold calling. Most people hate calling people and talking to complete strangers. But the truth is, if you want something bad enough – you will do whatever it takes. [spp-tweet tweet=”You’ve got to learn to love the things you hate. – Vince Palko”] Then mentality for cold calling is pushing through not liking something and focusing on the payout. When I was 7 or 8 years old, we had the generic version of Atari. We got it one year for Christmas along with a couple of games. But we wanted a football video game. My dad made me call around to different stores and trying to find that game before we went to the store to buy it. It taught me to go after something that I wanted. Want to make your cold calls warm? Get a page up on your page to get those leads that are at least interested in what you have to sell. It makes selling a lot easier. Become a student of selling and find those gurus and you learn from them. Don’t create that mental stigma for yourself that you ‘hate selling’. To summarize, here are the points: Learn to love the things you hate Pick up the phone and dial Review and assess Learn to love rejection (about every 5 “no’s” will lead to a “yes”) Patient persistence Yes! How to Get More Customers More Often – MWTG: 008
Want to learn a secret to getting more customers? Use an analogy to get people on board with why they need your services. For example, we came us with a great analogy for one of our chiropractor clients comparing taking care of your car (getting regular oil changes, maintenance) to taking care of your back by getting regular adjustments. This was a simple way of showing his potential clients the benefits of going in to see their chiropractor on a regular basis. The whiteboard video we did to go along with this really increased sales for our client! [spp-tweet tweet=”If you have a business that requires a complex description – use an analogy to help your customer better understand why they need your services. – Vince Palko”] If you want us to come up with a whiteboard video script for your business, give me a call. The Most Important Principle in Marketing – MWTG: 007
What is the most important principle in marketing that people are completely missing? Two words: FOLLOW UP. A lot of business owners out there don’t have a process set up to follow up with their potential customers. You are missing the boat! Automated follow-up Have an opt-in Have a pdf download offer Get a CRM Back in 2004, I had a simple shopping cart. It worked great but once I needed something that had more options, I knew it was time to upgrade. I like Infusionsoft, it is complex but it is amazing! You can start with something simpler to get your feet wet, but the point is – START! I stay on top of my leads and follow-up with them until they tell me NOT to.” – Vince PalkoClick To Tweet Consultation Request follow-up Give them access to more of my website than the average Joe. It gives them an opportunity to see what we do, what kind of pricing we have, etc. It makes closing the sale that much easier because they already know what we do and they’ve thought about how their business might be presented with an AdToon. Manual follow-up My team and I review our leads (people that have inquired about using AdToons), and we stay on top of following up with them on a regular basis until they TELL US not to. Remember, if you don’t follow up, you may be missing out on a lot of business. Other episodes you may enjoy: How to Doodle Your Dreams: MWTG 003 How to Convert Cold Traffic: MWTG 001 Yes! What You Can Learn From “The Grinch” Creator Ted Geisel – MWTG: 006
The other day I was watching a documentary about Ted Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. For me Ted Geisel is up there with Steve Jobs. He’s someone I really look up to. Essentially, he started creating amazing cartoon ads for many different companies. In this documentary I found out that he really didn’t enjoy making those illustrations for companies. He really did what he had to do to make money to live before he got his big break in children’s books. The interesting thing about Ted Geisel is that he didn’t really even care for kids that much. He didn’t ‘hate’ kids, he just didn’t love them. He combined his passion for writing and his passion for illustrating and it unfolded into children’s books. Ted Geisel’s main goal in writing his books was to help kids learn how to read – Vince PalkoClick To Tweet One day his friend made a bet with him that he couldn’t write a book in less than 300 words. Ted Geisel ended up writing it in about 250 and it was actually Cat in the Hat. The same sort of thing happened when he wrote Green Eggs and Ham – he used lot of the exact same words and just repeated them often. How do you apply that to your business and life? To challenge yourself in unique ways and look at things from a different perspective. You want to create a dent in the universe and make an impact and do amazing things? Bust your tail. – Vince PalkoClick To Tweet Ted always worked tirelessly at finding the right words and was never satisfied until is was perfect – meticulous attention to detail does pay off. Yes! How to Memorize Anything – MWTG: 005
How to Memorize Just About Anything… If you can doodle, draw stick figures, or visualize – you’ve got this! Here are a couple of examples of how this technique has worked for me! My daughter and I went to a football game a while back in Detroit and we parked on two cross streets. I told her we needed a way to memorize the streets because we parked pretty far from the stadium. So I told her we should visualize a farmer with a tattoo of Marilyn Monroe on the back of his neck to remember the streets “Farmer” and “Monroe.” Sure enough, when we left the game I very easily remembered the picture we visualized and we were able to find out where we parked. This is just a simple example of how I approach being able to memorize anything. [tweet_box design=”default”]I began doodling to help me memorize facts I needed to know in college and still use that technique to this day. – Vince Palko[/tweet_box] I did this same sort of thing one time with my middle daughter to help her study for a test. We decided to draw pictures to help her memorize names for her test. For example, for the Inca Indians, we visualized an ‘ink bottle’. I explained to her that she was a visual learner and she would do best visualizing what she needed to learn in creative ways. That night she told me that she ended up getting 100% on her test. That’s essentially the formula. [tweet_box design=”default”]When I’m away from my desk and I have a great business idea, I stack visual images on top of each other, and it really helps me recall those ideas that I don’t want to forget. – Vince Palko[/tweet_box] Other episodes you may enjoy: How a Simple Cartoon Transformed a Business – MWTG:000 Yes! Taking out the Cash Can, Hustling Every Day – MWTG: 004
You’ve Got to be Hustling Every Day! You always have to be… SELLING baby! If you forget to take you trash out, like I did one day… you have to go and chase down the garbage man. I ran and flagged down the garbage guy and he told me that he wasn’t my garbage guy. [spp-tweet tweet=”Crappy salesman have thin kids – Dan Kennedy”] A few minutes later he comes back and hands me a paper explaining why they’re different and how he’d love to have my business. As business owners, it’s our jobs to continue to tell people why we’re different/unique/better than our competition. What that garbage man did is an important example of what we all need to be doing. He was hustling! It would have been cooler if he had something to give me right away, not just a flyer. ALWAYS BE CLOSING ALWAYS RECOGNIZE AN OPPORTUNITY ASSUME THE SALE ALWAYS BE HUSTLING Yes! How to Doodle Your Dreams – MWTG: 003
How to Doodle Your Dreams… I strongly believe in the Law of Attraction. Back in 1997, I drew a doodle picture of myself playing and kicking butt in football in college. I hung it in my locker and looked at it every day. The next year I started as middle line backer my junior year. I was gifted a scholarship to college and my first year we went to the California Raisin Bowl game. Later that weekend I went to my old room from high school and I went digging through my closet. I found that doodle drawing I created back in high school. It gives me chills that I pictured what I wanted, drew it on a paper, and a few years later it came to fruition. I like to believe, know, and trust, that whatever I put down on paper, I can manifest in real life. GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR GOALS Doodle anything. Visualize your goals and creatively put it together. I’ve used the law of attraction to find my significant other, make money, and find fitness success. You can too, just try it! Yes! I Want to Talk to the Godfather! Marketing with an Unusual Charity – MWTG: 002
[spp-player] Marketing with an Unusual Charity… Today we have a very special guest… Tom Latourette, founder of BTB foundation! What is BTB? About 14 years ago Tom and his brother, Bill, told their friend Paula who had breast cancer that they would raise the money she needed for her surgery through a golfing event. They got some friends together and they ended up raising the $3,000 that Paula needed for her surgery. The concept was that Tom and Bill would golf before the day before the event and the next day people would have to beat their scores and the money they earned would go to families battling cancer. That event went from raising $3,000 with 30 golfers the first year in 2002 to raising $120,000 with over 300 golfers in 2014. They have raised over $750,000 in the 15 years they’ve been doing this. At the event things for the golfers are crazy: there are bounce houses they have to shoot their balls through and above, there are trumpets that blow as you hit the ball, there are drums and music, the list of madness goes on! Working with BTB The team and I had so much fun visualizing this crazy fun event. “We found that a lot of people struggled understanding what our event was about, but [Ad Toons] took everything that we do and [they] wrapped it up in this little bow… it helps us explain to people what we do.” We worked together to address the marketing piece, but we really had a neat experience at that year’s banquet after the event. That year one of the children BTB was helping drew a picture of her in a supergirl outfit so Tom asked me if we could turn a few of the kids into super heros. Within about 24 hours we sent them back 5 drawings of kids in their super hero drawings and that night we presented the kids with their drawings. Last year we did the same thing and for a few kids that they were helping and it really was such a special experience. IN THIS EPISODE… Learn how Tom and Bill got a celebrity client (and tips on how to get one) Tom shares his sales training and a bit about his other business Tom tells us the what he sees as the future of his foundation Yes! How to Convert Cold Traffic – MWTG: 001
How to Convert Cold Traffic… There are many different facets to marketing… Those that say you need to cultivate your existing clients because that’s where the money is Those that say you should always be going after new or fresh blood For me… I think the answer lies in the middle. Take care of your existing customers while you look for new leads as well. WARM VS. COLD TRAFFIC Warm traffic follow you and know who you are. They’re typically loyal customers. Cold traffic are those you need to draw in with different marketing campaigns. COMMUNICATING YOUR MESSAGE There’s really no better way other than communicating your message, making sure people understand your offer, making sure they understand why you’re unique and different, and then giving them a call to action. How Do You Convert Cold Traffic? OFFER THEM AN ENGAGING PRESENTATION Most people don’t have 30 minutes to go through your whole site and look at all of the funnels you offer… but they will give you 2-3 minutes to watch a video that will get them up to speed about what you do. When you grab their attention, you now have permission to give them more information and offers. Yes! I Want to Talk with the Godfather! How a Simple Cartoon Transformed a Business – MWTG: 000
[spp-player] Ready to learn about how a simple cartoon can transform your business? I’m coming to you from my basement, channeling the energy from where I first started my business. In this podcast we’re going to delve into stories about how we got started and how we’re making a difference in today’s marketplace. WHY DID I START AdToons? I wanted to one day see cartoon advertisements everywhere because I knew there was something really powerful about using cartoons to market. This is exactly what I wanted to do, make a dent in the universe and I chose to do so with cartoons. Yes! I Want to Talk with the Godfather! THE BEGINNING OF AdToons Back in 2005 we created characters for print and static ads, things went well for a while… However, in 2008 business started to go down but this is where I learned the most. Going through this tough time helped me learn how to market and sell. The number one thing that helped me was giving people results. After one particular success with a client, Mike, really the rest is history! We’ve done thousands of videos for all different types of businesses and it really is success story after success story. “Make a dent in the universe” – Steve JobsClick To Tweet THE POWER OF CARTOONS Cartoons have a unique and different feel to them than regular videos. CARTOONS ENGAGE! I do what I do because I’ve wanted to help business owners convert more traffic with the power of cartoons. The best part about what I do is it’s not my opinion vs. my client’s opinion… it’s about both of us working together to create something that will be successful. Yes!
