Luke 9:23-25 - Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he 23 must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants 24 to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What 25 good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? What does it mean to “take up your cross?” How about “to deny yourself?” The cross was an instrument of death and here symbolizes the necessity of total commitment—even unto death—on the part of Jesus’ disciples. Cross bearing includes a willingness to suffer and die for the LORD’s sake. Honor your parents Matthew 15:4 - For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ Was this a new command of Jesus? No; this was one of the original 10 commandments. Exodus 20:12 - Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Deut. 5:16 - Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Exodus 21:17 - Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death. Leviticus 20:9 - If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your tunic, hand over your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. 'Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not commit Adultery '"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.'
