Amy’s oldest son, Ryan Scruggs stepped into lead guitar in 2011 and shared the stage and dream with her by performing alongside her. Amy's single “Coming Home”, written by Dave Adams and produced by Paul McKenna, is a celebration song for our heroes.  Amy’s Patriotism shines through in her known traditional version of the National Anthem. In 2011, at the request of the United States Army, Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion, Amy was chosen to perform the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. Amy is also a Member of the Board for "Saddles In Service" a non-profit, veteran operated ranch, offering an equine therapy program for veterans & first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress. "Comin Home" was the official theme song for the American Veterans of California from 2009-2012! https://www.amyscruggsmedia.com/ https://www.voiceforheroes.org/ Tammy: Tammy’s dream of Saddles In Service became a reality when Mike her husband, retired from the United States Navy in 2016. They purchased an equestrian ranch in Alpine, California. A few months later, Tammy learned about a group of horses that had been rescued from an abusive environment and were in need of forever homes. Two days later, they had their first two rescue horses. Today, they home thirteen amazing horses, each one with a unique story. Tammy wanted to not only rescue the horses but also give them a new purpose. Her passion for Veterans and their families, paired with her love of horses, created the idea of Saddles In Service. The idea grew to include First Responders, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMTs, and their families. These Heroes have a calling to serve their Nation and their local communities. Throughout their service, many of these Heroes encounter unimaginable hardships that can create lifelong physical and mental health challenges. Tammy wanted to create a place where Heroes can begin their journey of health alongside rescue horses.  In 2017, Tammy and Mike started to put the foundation in motion. Tammy enlisted the help of her good friend, Jill Breen. Together, they created the non-profit organization known as Saddles in Service. Saddles in Service opened to the public in December of 2017. Our mission is to provide mental health wellness and healing for Active Duty Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, First Responders, and their families that have been diagnosed with or are experiencing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, depression, job-related stress, and/or traumatic brain injuries by partnering them with a rescued horse at no cost to them. https://saddlesinservice.org/ ********** Your Host - Brad Richard Scars & Stripes Coffee: https://www.ss.coffee/bradrichard YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/y7uzojak Manat50 School: https://brad-s-school-4d92.thinkific.com Website: https://www.bradrichard.net --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/manat50/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/manat50/support
