How to Bounce Back From Disappointment
How to Bounce Back From DisappointmentFind out about Ken and I's latest argument and what I did to bounce back from being disappointed!!Don't worry.....we're still together. 😆🤪💓👊“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.” —Zig Ziglar1. Face the truth of the situation2. Allow yourself to feel the disappointment but don’t stay there. Give it a time limit! Understanding how you respond in stress will really help you here to pinpoint how you’re responding.3. Think about WHY this was disappointing. Did it trigger a core weakness in you? Ex: Were you needing validation from someone because you aren’t in a healthy state with the Lord? Don't get stuck feeling like a victim.4. Check if your expectations are realistic. Why are you being triggered by the other person or the event? Is it about you or about them? Both? Old wounds?5. Be kind to yourself. If it was something you did, let it go. Figure out what to do differently next time. If it was a wound from someone else, talk with them about it and see if you can resolve the conflict and fix the wound before it creates division.#RealLife #enneagram9 #enneagram8

Sugar Freedom Series Day 6: Understanding Who You Are
Day 6: Understanding Who You AreIn Luke 10:38-42, we find the very familiar story when Jesus visited Mary and Martha. Martha was running around frantically cooking and cleaning and being busy. Mary was just sitting there, listening to Jesus and not helping! I know that you’ve heard the story, but I want to present this to you today in a different light. You see, when we forget that we are God’s children, we forget to enjoy life. When we are misaligned with the Word, we try to operate fully on our own strength. For example, as a type 9, I have a strong need and desire for peace and harmony in all their relationships, so I begin to accommodate and people-please, disregarding myself in the process. This causes me to become extremely anxious, especially if the conflict isdirected toward me. This makes me withdraw completely. I lose focus entirely and feel like I’m living in a fog.I’ve had so many moms tell me, “I just feel like I’ve lost myself and I”m living in a haze”.Do you think that this is what was happening in our story? Martha was misaligned with God here? She was frantically trying to make sure everyone was happy and taken care of, but she was obviously getting burnt out. She forgot that she didn’t have to operate out of her own strength. She forgot who she was.40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”For Your homework:Find your favorite mirror in your home and spend five minutesstanding in front of it. Now, take a good, long look at yourself. At this point, you only need to come up with one thing. However, once your time in front of the mirror is complete, you should sitdown and make a list of all the things you love about yourself. What do you like about yourself? This exercise may be painful if you have allowed self-hate to build upwithin yourself. It’s okay if you respond to this exercise in anemotional way. Take a break if need be but come up with a list of atleast ten things. What makes you a great friend? What makes you a good person? Write those down. Remember that these are things God has given you. You aren’t meant to do life alone. Understanding who you are and who’s you are is the first step to becoming aligned with your truest self-a daughter of the King.

Sugar Freedom Series Day 5: Understanding Your Relationship to Food
Day 5: Understanding Your Relationship With Food Sitting in my bedroom at 11pm at night with a spoon and half gallon of icecream to myself was the way I spent several nights. It was my time. My husband and I were separated at the time and the nights were lonely once the kids went to bed. There were some nights I thought I’d never go to sleep! You see, for me, icecream (and occasionally tortilla chips and queso were my partner, my lover, my companion. During that time in my life, food was my friend. I know that sounds silly but, What is your relationship with food? Imagine, for a moment, that food is a human being. It’s someone that you know well.Describe your relationship with food. Write it down. Here are some ideas to get you started. What does your relationship with food (sugar) really look like? What does that description look like? Is it a healthy, loving relationship? Is it your best friend?Your arch-nemesis? Now repeat this exercise, but this time describe sweets (a chocolatebar, for example) as one person and more nutrient-dense food(raspberries, for instance) as another. Food is more than nourishment for a lot of us. It’s our secret keeper, our warm blanket on a cold night, our companion....just check to make sure you aren’t using food to replace real people or real connection in your life. I would like to end this with a quote from the Psychology of Eating:Every word that describes our relationship with people equally describes our relationship with food: love, hate, pleasure, pain, learning, communication, change intimacy, conflict, surprises, all of it. Food is the longest term relationship you’ll ever have. It’s there from the beginning, til the end. We might as well relax into it. Thank you for listening to another episode of the MME podcast. I’ll be back again tomorrow for #6 in this sugar freedom series.

Sugar Freedom Series Day 4: Know Your Worth It
Day 4: Know You’re Worth ItThis is important Believe you are worth it Know why you’re worth itEmbarking on a journey to become sugar-free requires sacrifice, energy, money, and time. You have to understand that you are worth it. When you learn to embrace that, it makes it easier to maintain your mindset. Often it is the needs of others that derail your efforts. They need this, they need that, your focus is broken and suddenly, your perspective has been clouded. Putting yourself first and understanding your worth will be easier to do for some Enneagram numbers than other. So today I want to remind you of what IS GOOD about you and what your gifting is. So here are a few reminders for you: Type One: you are honest, fair, poised, polite, and sincere. Your ideasand opinions are sound and reasonableType Two: You have the amazing ability to sustain positive affections for other people. You go out of their way to support, help, and care for others because you are loving, compassionate, and generous.Type Three: You have the desire and will to improve themselves, motivate others to be their best, and adapt to any given situation. You have a healthy sense of self and can remain positive for a long time.Type Four: are very self-aware, self-revealing, and able to communicate about your inner world in a way that helps others do the same.Type Five: you are profoundly perceptive and capable of original, brilliant, and inventive solutions to problems.Type Six: you think systematically and can predict potential problems. You are very loyal and committed! Type Seven: you do many things well because of your quick and sharp mind.Type Eight: use their remarkable instinctive intuition to see possibilities in situations, and people that are often overlooked.Type Nine: open, receptive, reassuring, and encouraging to others. You create a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere that enables others to flourish. Now is the time to write out a list of why you’re worth this hard work and effort. It’s time for you to get to know your value and worth.

Sugar Freedom Series Day 3: Get Smart (Goal Setting)
Sugar Freedom Series: DAY THREEGet SmartNow it’s time to create goals. This will help you put yourself in theright mindset. Remember, your goals should be SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-specific). For example, your ultimate goal is to stop eating sugar. You haveto be more specific! Say that that chocolate is your Achilles' heel, sobreak it down by saying that you are only going to have chocolate ondays that start with an “S”, then move to just once a week, then just one time onone day per week, etc., and set target dates. Think specifically andPractically. I’ve said this many many times but small hinges turn big doors. Don’t try to change too many things at one time. I’ve seen this a lot with my clients. They want to start a new eating plan, plus Intermittent fasting, plus drink ½ their body weight in water daily and start training for a 5k…..slow down. Pick one goal then one step to get you there. And sis...it’s not going to happen overnight, but it’s incrediblydiscouraging when you set unrealistic goals you can’t reach them because they are too big or too many. Another mindset shift that helps in this regard is instead of thinking,“I need to quit sugar immediately,” think “Today, I will focus onchanging these habits, so I will eat some strawberries for a snack insteadof a candy bar.” One day at a time. Homework:Take a screenshot and share today’s episode in your IG and FB stories and tag me (@fullonpurpose).I’d love to know...what is one step towards one goal you’re going to start today? Send me a DM and let’s chat so I can support you and be an accountability partner for you!
