Mini episode: Worth Your Weight in Gold
Hey folks. Trevor DeSaussure here again with Lyrics and Lattes to bring you another Hot 16...Oh my gawd!!! I get it! J Cole dropped an album. Do you know what- do you know what you guys sound like in my inbox right now? Jermaine? Yeah. Cole? Yes. (Cries in unintelligible) We're doing it today. We're doing it right now, Que the lyric! All the pain you hold makes you worth your weight in gold (hums in angelic). All the pain you hold makes you worth your weight in gold. Every negative thing that has happened in your life happened for a reason. It's also provided you with an opportunity. Learn and grow from your past mistakes. Because if you take the knowledge from those opportunities presented to you, you've made yourself worth your own weight in gold. Alright! I did it! I did it! There's your J.Cole breakdown. Don't ask me again. I ain't doing it again...I'm just playing. Yeah, probably will. I, unfortunately, have to do another rest in peace this week. Paul Mooney passed away yesterday. On behalf of the entire Lyrics and Lattes crew, rest in peace, rest in power to another legendary human being.   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lyricsandlattes/message

Millions of young adults are too often defined only by their struggles with unemployment, poverty, and crime. Traditionally known as “disenfranchised,” “marginalized,” “disconnected,” and “at risk,” these young people aspire to improve their lives and communities. These young people are typically defined solely by their challenges, not by their potential. Mini Episode: Leveling up (Tribute to DMX, Shock G, and Black Rob)
Hey folks, Trevor DeSaussure here from Lyrics and Lattes to bring you another Hot 16. The past week has been hard for hip-hop. We laid DMX to rest, we lost Black Rob, and we lost Shock G. This is just a reminder that tomorrow is not promised. Do what makes you happy now. That all said, today's lyric is coming from Black Rob, from his song, Star in Da Hood. Ain't nun post-traumatic about it, it's just deep. It's like trying to live out in the suburbs and stay street. Every next level of your life will demand a different version of you. It's called growth, but there are some parts of the past that you need to leave behind you. If you're happy being stuck in the same stage of your life, so be it. But I know a lot of you aren't take certain lessons with you. Take certain people with you, but know when you need to make cuts. Growth and maturity are a key part of life. And after a while, the only thing holding you back from success is you. I've had to do a lot of RIP's lately. One final, one to DMX, an RIP to Black Rob, and an RIP Shock G. On behalf of the entire Lyrics and Lattes team, take care of yourselves everybody.   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lyricsandlattes/message

Because what they don't see while you're steady building their steady wasting their time, energy, and resources on something that may make them feel good in the moment; but ultimately doesn't get them anywhere. The premise of this lyric is, "Cool, do you." And with that we're out.   --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lyricsandlattes/message

Mini-Episode: Raise The Bar (Black Thought)
Hey – its Jason Wallace with the lyrics and lattes podcast where we use hip-hop lyrics to inspire you.  Today’s hot 16 mini-episode is called Raise the Bar by Black Thought. I turned scars to a sense of regard for myself Based on where I set the bar, I made it hard for myselfI lent the hand before my brothers called for my help Let’s be real, some of y’all are winning because you haven’t set the bar high enough. You keep picking stuff you already know how to do... Dream bigger - don’t allow the fear of failing stop you from growth. ADD: "Failure is not an option!"...NO failure is inevitable. Its progress. Failure is NOT the opposite of success...it’s on the road to it.  If you’ve never taken an L, your dreams aren’t big enough. 040- Mini Episode: Forgiviness (Tr3demark)
Hey, what up folks? It's Trevor DeSaussure here again to bring you, your Hot 16. This week we're going to local DC artist Tr3demark. The beat's so sick, throw you into convulsion. And please don't trip over whatever's broken. Cuz we so lit. Degrees on the steeze so brisk. Used to let them take the wheel breath stinks to let him take the wheel and now I'm riding in Jesus whiiiiiiiip. Please don't trip over whatever's broken. This week we're going to be talking about forgiveness. Not just forgiving others, but forgiving yourself. Look what happened in the past happened in the past. There's nothing you can do about it. It's already done. You're only human and a good 70% of life is us just messing up. The Bible says he without sin cast the first stone. In the Quran it states let them pardon and overlook. In Hinduism, not only do you need to forgive but you need to seek forgiveness. We figure this out across the world. Live, let, and learn. And become a better version of yourself today than what you were yesterday. And the only way you can do that is by making a couple of mistakes. Hey guys, don't forget to tune in for a full episode every Monday and a mini episode every Thursday. 034- Mini Episode: Ever Been Overlooked? (King Los)
Hey – its Jason Wallace with the lyrics and lattes podcast where we use hip-hop lyrics to inspire you.  Today’s mini-episode is inspired by King Los - Happy Birthday bro.  No villain is stopping this oneThat'd be a dark night, won't it?While overlooking my city, had a Dark Knight momentI'm overlooking my city, same city that overlooked meNow it's back to back tours, cause cities just overbook me Listen, being overlooked has nothing to do with you, your talents, or your abilities. Sometimes, people’s perception of what you’re capable of, is less about you and more about their inability to spot potential. Don’t let somebody’s “you can’t” make you bitter or worse, doubt yourself. Your time is coming - let that criticism push you to greatness. So get uncomfortable, …Learn… Adapt.. and level up. And don’t forget… "Never give up, Never Surrender" - DJ Khaled   “never give up never surrender”... and we out --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/lyricsandlattes/message
