43 Episodes

92 minutes | Aug 17, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E09 (8/18/15)
Description TBD.
105 minutes | Jul 21, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E07 (7/7/15)
With almost zero preparation, @tjlytle joins @spainb and @anthonydurante and they make up content as they go. Seems that @tjlytle wants to add DRM to food, @anthonydurante is testing high tech cucumber growing techniques and @spainb has returned from his bucket list vacation. There's a bit about @fablabncc and all the kids running around, @anthonydurante uses Star Trek to solve the moral dilemma of self driving cars (sort of), and @spainb talks to his phone.
100 minutes | Jul 20, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E08 (7/21/15)
@josh_miller is back. Full notes later.
105 minutes | Jul 7, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E06 (6/2/15)
@tjlytle and @anthonydurante finally get back to the @lvtech mics after quite the absence. For some reason @spainb can't make it to this show, but could very well have been listening. @anthonydurante talks about his travels, notices (halfway through the show) that the entire studio has changed. Later @tjlytle talks to @ealytle about a book she's been reading, and her time at #lvhack. Finally - armed with dangerous stuff - @jeffreyminton joins to talk about making stuff, robot arms, and @tjlytle's application.
105 minutes | Jul 7, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E05 (4/7/15)
Somehow @spainb and @pourcurator are both back this week. But there no plan. @pourcurator gives the scoop on SXSW, @tjlytle opens with some kind of breaking news, and @pourcurator probably won't buy a Hemingwrite (neither will @spainb). Following a long running plot line, we delve - once again - into @spainb's personal life. And Robots might not be the best at trading stocks. At least not on April 4th. That and much, much more. Including a very special guitar, a 3D printer kickstarter, and a robot arm.
105 minutes | Apr 6, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E04 (3/17/15)
How do you know it's the day before @lvtech Radio? @tjlytle finally uploads the last show. No time to describe this one, other than @spainb is mysteriously not around, and @pourcurator pretty much has all the content. There's some FabLab stuff, and somehow @markkoberlein shows up - but in the end, everyone is puzzled by something.
105 minutes | Mar 15, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E03 (3/3/15)
While the rest of the Lehigh Valley shuts down, @tjlytle locks @spainb in the studio for @lvtecahradio. Somehow @pourcurator and @anthonydurente show up mid way through, but @TechonomicMan can only tweet about his long drive home. @spainb doesn't talk about the time he met the @uber people - though, there is some discussion about committing database credentials to github. @tjlytle definitely does not talk about net neutrality, and somehow doesn't talk about it for ten to fifteen minutes. @pourcurator calls @spainb and @tjlytle old, and @anthonydurante figures the Facebook suicide prevention program won't get too much abuse - unless you have really bad friends. Since @TechonomicMan bailed, 'Startup Lehigh Valley' turns into the startup name game, where @tjlytle and @spainb do so very badly that @pourcurator wins by not playing. There's some discussion about whether a head transplant is really a body transplant, the last meetup, #lvhack (the pinata of hackathons) the future of Windows and @tjlytle's standing desk.
109 minutes | Feb 1, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E02 (2/3/15)
@tjlytle @markkoberlein and @spainb introduce the new new format (newer than the new format last show). @markkoberlein moves @spainb's cheese, then talked a bit about Radio Shack (goodby), standing desks, turbo tax (they have a mobile app now), and open sourcing all laws - or at least the budget. After some Superbowl ad talk, @pourcurator joins to talk about more Superbowl ads with @anthonydurante, until @tjlytle cons @TechonomicMan and @anthonydurante into becoming his daughter's first customers, then they eventually introduce the special guest of the day - Kim Flueso - and talk about teaching entrepreneurship in school. Somehow @spainb and @markkoberlein find their way back, and bring some random to the show. @tjlytle thinks Microsoft's new glasses are just an update to Bob, @markkoberlein wants one, and we find out what Twitter client @spainb uses.
160 minutes | Jan 19, 2015
Tech Radio: S04E01 (1/20/15)
New year, new format, big show. We talk FabLab, Startup Lehigh Valley, and the fun stuff. The FabLab team stops by to talk about the Robot TechTalk later in the evening, and their upcoming robotics classes. Also some big 3d printing, and just how easy it can be to go from idea to prototype at the FabLab. @anthonydurante and @TechonomicMan stop by to talk Startups, but @tjlytle sidetracks things a bit with dolls, and failed ideas. Then guest Chris Hudock talks about how The Rising Tide is helps make starting a business in the Lehigh Valley possible for a lot of people. Finally @spainb and @markkoberlein keep things interesting as @tjlytle gives an update on failed (and successful) Kickstarters and claims that Ben Franklin was a big fan of Open Source.
146 minutes | Jan 18, 2015
Tech Radio: S03E20 (12/10/14)
The 3rd season of LVTech Radio wraps up with the trial of a new format - and some of the technical glitches we're all used to (yeah, they'll be fixed in 2015). Somehow missing part of the 2nd hour (but don't worry @markkoberlein even the parts where your mic is off are safe). Ever wanted to know how @LVTech started? @tjlytle kicks things off talking about that. @josh_miller brings his trademark style via phone lines (we almost have that figured out), and @spainb and @anthonydurante join in most of the fun. We talk a bit about the top gifts you can make in a FabLab, along with all that's been going on at the FabLab. @TechonomicMan joins to talk a bit about startups (some of which was lost) and - of course - the 3rd hour is the normal chaos @markkoberlein brings.
50 minutes | Nov 11, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E19 (11/12/14)
@tjlytle and @spainb hold down the fort talking about - of all things - Pringles and Google buying NASA. @tjlytle's little mini-mouse gets an upgrade, and he wonders if Google Hangouts is spying on him. But why read about it when you can listen.
50 minutes | Oct 21, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E17 (10/8/14)
Hotels that fine you for bad reviews, how the next generation of USB devices are going to be amazing, and why you should stop using USB forever are just some of the random supposedly technology related topics of this show. Of course the Kick of the Week is another local Lehigh Valley project, and since the last show talked about some Apple related announcement, this time @tjlytle gets the inside scoop from @spainb about where Windows 9 has gone. But really, to appreciate it, you need to listen.
50 minutes | Oct 20, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E18 (10/22/14)
@pourcurator joins @spainb and @tjlytle to talk a bit about games and stuff. But first @tjlytle rants a bit about the food in London. Of course there's some talk about Startup Weekend, a bit of on the fly research into the new Kinect adapter. Finally @pourcurator talks a bit about overachieving game companies who promise that games will actually work. Random stuff about NFC tags, winches, and the high tech radio studio being built around them as they talk.
50 minutes | Sep 9, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E16 (9/10/14)
Still getting up to speed on this new technology called microphones, @tjlytle subjects us all to horrifically overdriven audio for the first minute of the show. It's almost like @markkoberlein is on the show (he isn't). After that bit of fun, @spainb and @tjlytle ramble on about things like Tom Hank's mobile app (things like that, but not actually that, since we talked about that the last time). Or Twitter becoming Facebook. The IoT And some announcement Apple made - for that, we of course call on (literally) @charlesbcraig. Enjoy.
50 minutes | Aug 26, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E15 (8273/14)
Abandon by their friends, two technology enthusiasts battle their way to a secret radio studio and broadcast to the world. Yup, it's just @spainb and @tjlytle this time around, and after figuring out just what to talk about (on the air of course) there's some discussion about @tjlytle's new laptop and how @spainb could have been the chairman of Comcast. @spainb also has the inside track on Tom Hank's new app, @tjlytle mentions the 'Humans Need Not Apply' video, and they cover the breaking news in the world of online food ordering.
50 minutes | Aug 12, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E14 (8/13/14)
@markkoberlein is raring to go this week, perhaps only because it's @josh_millers last show, and he knows it needs to be a good one. (Okay, okay, @josh_miller fans, just the last show for a while. He has to change lives for a while.) @tjlytle tries to continue last show's discussion about what will be left for all of us to do once we automate and robotize everything - but as he and @spainb try to recap the last show, it quickly descends into what @markkoberlein and @josh_miller think about Jibo. Which, it seems, is not much. However, everyone - although no one actually rides a motorcycle - loves the idea of a helmet with heads-up-display. Then it's just a strange assortment of floating speakers, code road trips, and taco delivering bikes. @tjlytle points to an article in the latest issue of Make, that along with a Star Trek replicator would make the Jibo something @markkoberlein could get behind. In the end, everyone - even @josh_miller, who's used them - likes LittleBits.
50 minutes | Jul 29, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E13 (7/30/14)
Let's face it, just skip to the end to hear @tjlytle and @TechonomicMan talk about what's left for humans to do after we automate everything else, and all have personal robots. But if you want to listen to the rest of the show, the basic jist is three old guys - @tjlytle @spanb and @TechonomicMan - all sound old because of Ryan the Intern. @tjlytle passes around Google Cardboard (which works great for radio), talk of Google's new contact lenses and some hitchhiking robot. Then the Kick of the Week, which everyone realizes later on is only a smaller model of a hover bike, not the bike itself. But don't take our word for it, listen to every minute of it yourself. Do it. Now.
48 minutes | Jul 15, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E12 (7/16/14)
[Missing about 2 random minutes of this show, mostly made up of short second or two drops in the stream.] Full show today, from a super secret location because of comments @josh_miler made last show. @tjlytle starts things off his product idea of a kid friendly GoPro enclosure, but the conversation takes a rapid turn into what camels are like. There's some talk about Google I/O, and - of course - Cardboard. @josh_miller found that, and the absence of Google Glass interesting, while @spainb isn't quite convinced. There's a lively discussion about the hardest part of driving a semi, but then @markkoberlein and @tjlytle share concerns over the recent denial of non-profit status to a open source software foundation. Pushing the envelop yet again, there's a beta test of the first ever 2nd 'screen' (channel) content on LVTech Radio. Thanks Ryan the Intern! The rest of the show is filled with talk about potato salad, lasers, and the smell phone (probably not what it's called), before - yet again - hurling harsh criticism at some new startup or app idea. But in the end, it's probably Comcast's fault, and they won't let us cancel that service.

Tech Radio: S03E11 (6/25/14)
Everyone talks about YO, although no one has actually used it. @spain questions the usefulness of ranking your coworkers through facebook, while after quite the absence @josh_miller brings his trademark pessimism to the topic, relishing the idea of being able to fire his friends. @tjlytle has his opinion of the new @amazon phone changed slightly, as both @spainb and @josh_miller talk about the sensor heavy device. Admittedly hating about everything, @josh_miller warns people to avoid Startup Weekend. Then he intersperses his thoughts on a new online food delivery service while @spain be reports the news from the twitters. It's safe to say they won't be a future sponsor. @tjlytle rants a bit about his @kickstarter fails, while laying down what he expects to see from any future tech related kickstarter. And so much more.
50 minutes | Jun 10, 2014
Tech Radio: S03E10 (6/11/14)
Using the magic of modern technology (and actually, some stuff we've never used before), @tjlytle, @spainb, and @markkoberlein are actually recorded this time. @spainb talks about his new phone, and it's huge. @markkoberlein tried to convince everyone that Apple's new Swift language is a good idea, and @tjlytle rambles on about hackathon, APIs and the Internet of Things. Also there's talk about the Reading Rainbow kickstarter, and how it's similar - yet different - from public television fundraising. @tjlytle brings up the new Javascsript hardware platform from @technicalhumans (@4MarcT's suggestion), and a variety if recent news items @spainb suggested, like Facebook's not quite released app, and Google's hands free car.
