Rashaun Woods Oklahoma State Legend Talks Tykie Andrews, OState & Coaching Journey
Oklahoma State Football has a long list of big-time athletes with big time hands allowing the argument for certifiable big-time/WRU conversations to even be possible. But even before him the great Woodward Oklahoma "Blonde Boomer" (who was 100% robbed of the 1945 Heisman) Bob Fenimore opened doors at every position. People like Neil Armstrong, Mark Cromer, Terry Young, TD Bryant, R.W. McQuarters, Brandon Pettigrew, David Glidden, Josh Cooper, Adarius Bowman, Josh Stewart, Dillon Stoner, Marcell Ateman, Djuan Woods, Chris Lacy, Justin Blackmon, James Washington, Tyron Johnson, Tylan Wallace, Tyreek Hill, Tay Martin & Dez Bryant to make an impact while also leaving an indelible mark on all of us who love being Home, in Stillwater Oklahoma. As a RS Freshman Rashaun hauled in 29 snags for 329. As a Soph. it was officially arrival time snagging 80 for 1,042 & 10TD's. You want to talk about leaving an indelible mark on a program .... HE had our version of The Catch in 2001 Bedlam. Simply by destroying OU and pushing them out of any shot in the BCS National Championship contention conversation. As a JR he casually picked 107 out of the sky courtesy of a Josh Fields led pigskins amounting to a casual 1695 and 17TD's. Bedlam, yes sir he'll have another strolling out of the game with only 12 catches & 226 yds to once again, convincingly help blow out OU again 38-28 in 2002 breaking open for 41, 60 & 13 yd house calls. Rashaun Is Still Open!!! And always will be. His 2x All American Sr campaign would continue the trend of domination. He set the NCAA record 7 TD’s and left the program leading OState in receptions with 293, Yards at 4414 & 42 TD's Opening up the WRU conversation door. Rashaun was the 1st All American WR since the great Gold & Black Trans Am....bient Hart Lee Dykes. His 2002 Hall of Honor induction was emotional, his Ring Of Honor Day inside Boone Pickens Stadium is inevitable. Hailing from Millwood High School in the OKC area alongside is other Oklahoma State teammates/brothers D'Juan & Donovan Woods. He then returned to his High School alma mater to don a headset before eventually moving onto a John Marshall High School program that was stuck like chuck riding too deep in the struggle bus. So he changed the culture, changed the mindset, added some discipline allowing a State Championship trophy. Then he came to my original home town Enid Oklahoma to again completely rebuild yet another High School program that had forgotten what the winning, or even improvement feeling felt like. Improve they did. He came. He saw. He Hit 'em right there in the jaw. Now Tyler Texas is home for the All Time Cowboy. But his roster is not void of talent, success is the only option.
