Hot to Trotz! Barry Trotz interviews with hometown Winnipeg; Philly next. Plus, netfront presence!
The hottest coaching free agent during the offseason (for many NHL teams, including VGK) is Barry Trotz. On Tuesday he interviewed with Winnipeg in his home province. He is also among the top candidates for the Philadelphia job, according to reports. Trotz, many believe is still on the Golden Knights target list. Although, we haven't heard of an official interview yet. Rick Tocchet's name is also popping up and we should keep an eye on the former Coyotes coach. We also talk about numbers supporting, perhaps, the lack of VGK net presence this past season. And we check in on stats for the three VGK players who are in the World Championships with Canada. We also looked at blocked shots stats from the past season and VGK was one of the top eight teams in the category and none of those teams made the playoffs. Logan Thompson dunks on our Chris Gawlik for saying he won't be a member of VGK in Season 6!

VGK fans put a final "Coat" on the season
Our Chris Gawlik went to Monday's Coat The Ice (Paint the Ice in other NHL cities) event and got some fan reax to the season. Chris and his family also left some (non-offensive) artwork themselves. We talked about how Barry Trotz could be a fit with the VGK. Trotz is known as a defensive coach and VGK, we feel, has to change its system and doesn't have a personality or identity currently. We talked about the trio of Vegas Golden Knights who are playing in the World Championship for Canada - Nic Roy, Zach Whitecloud and Logan Thompson and whether the workload of playing extra games could take a toll. And we talked about Tuesday night's NHL Draft Lottery. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On this episode, Bill Foley says he's going to take a more active role in decision-making with VGK. (Can you believe he said he didn't approve of the Dadonov trade, but allowed it to go through anyway?) Will he be an owner who meddles in everyday business? What is the relationship like in the VGK front office now that he gave Kelly McCrimmon a vote of confidence? We do a deep dive into how things could progress moving forward. We believe Jack Eichel might have saved McCrimmon's job. Plus, we have heard nothing but crickets on whether VGK will bring back Pete DeBoer. Social media ramped up Monday when the Islanders announced head coach Barry Trotz was fired with a year remaining on his contract. Many fans felt Trotz would be a suitable replacement. Judgement Day for Pete DeBoer?
Kelly McCrimmon said earlier this week that he would be meeting with Pete DeBoer to discuss the head coach's future on Friday. The options would be to keep DeBoer for another season, have DeBoer fire an assistant coach or coaches; or, fire DeBoer with on year remaining on his contract. Tony Cordasco and Chris Gawlik discuss pros and cons on the matter. They also discuss what changes would need to be made if DeBoer is retained. And, they point out some positive contributions from the past season, including that of Logan Thompson. Now available on video. . Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The season-ending presser is today (Drink every time you hear the word injuries)
VGK will hold its season ending press conference today with Kelly McCrimmon, Pete DeBoer and select players holding court. Knee-Jerk Reactions for VGK as the season comes to an end in St. Louis
There are a lot of guesses as to what VGK will do next, now that it's eliminated from the playoffs. The fans and media alike are guessing if Pete DeBoer will be retained, and what players will depart in the off-season. Will VGK make knee-jerk, emotional decisions about personnel and its staff? What does VGK's goalie situation look like next season? (Does Lehner want out of Las Vegas? Will his surgery keep him out at the start of the season? Brossoit has a year left on his contract - does VGK try to unload him with the emergence of Logan Thompson?) Plus what team will show up for the Golden Knights on Friday in St. Louis? With VGK eliminated from the playoffs, what happens next?
For the first time in its five-year history, the Vegas Golden Knights will not be in the playoffs. They were eliminated on Wednesday night. In the aftermath of a disappointing season, the VGK will probably see a lot of changes. Could Pete DeBoer's job be in jeopardy? After the loss, Max Pacioretty said he feels there will be changes, but those are out of the players' hands. VGK played its fourth consecutive overtime game. They lost their third straight shootout and over that span VGK went 0-17 on shots. 0-17!!! Also, the hosts discuss shutting down Mark Stone. for the final game of the season as he has been laboring since his return. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

VGK loses shootout at OK Corral... Playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
VGK lost a seven round Shootout in Dallas Tuesday night in a 3-2 loss. The Golden Knights would have to win out and the Stars would have to lose twice to the Coyotes and Ducks on home ice. VGK would have to win twice to keep its faint playoff hopes alive. Logan Thompson was once again solid in net. William Carrier and Chandler Stephenson scored goals for VGK. Each goal coming late in the first and second periods. The Golden Knights blew two one-goal leads in the game. VGK's Logan Thompson injured his right leg but stayed in the game in a third period collision. Mark Stone still looked stiff and maybe aggravated his back injury when Brent Burns sat on top of him in Sunday's San Jose game. Max Pacioretty was knocked out of the game by a hip check and later returned. The Golden Knights complete the back-to-back in Chicago Wednesday night. They will be scoreboard watching the Stars-Coyotes game. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Bonus: Reflecting on the legacy of Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur (Courtesy Locked On Canadiens)
A few hours after news broke that Guy Lafleur, Montreal Canadiens legend and Hockey Hall of Famer, had passed away at the age of 70, Locked On Canadiens hosts Scott Matla and Laura Saba recorded a special bonus ad-free episode to share their immediate reaction. They reflected on the legacy he leaves behind and tried to contextualize the loss of a favourite Canadiens great, and what it means to the Habs, the city of Montreal, the province of Quebec, the NHL, and hockey as a whole. It would be easy to list his many on-ice accomplishments, such as five Stanley Cups, three Art Ross trophies, the most points scored by any Montreal Canadien, and many, many more, but what he truly meant to the hockey community was more than just the way he played - it was the way he embodied what it meant to be legend off the ice as well. The rivalry is back on and the Sharks might have spoiled VGK's playoff hopes.
Timo Meier called Sunday's game against VGK, the Sharks biggest game of the season. He said the Sharks wanted to play the role of spoiler and knock the Golden Knights out of the playoffs. VGK isn't out of the playoff race yet, but they no longer control their own destiny. VGK needs a lot of help from teams that are ahead of them to make it into the playoffs. Meier tied the game with less than a second remaining in regulation. After a scoreless overtime, the Sharks beat the Golden Knights on the shootout 1-0 to earn the win. The winning goal was by Thomas Bordeleau, who played for the University of Michigan this past season. The Golden Knights started Logan Thompson in net. There is still a lot of rumors and contraversy about whether Robin Lehner is one for the season a is facing season-ending knee surgery. Up next Dallas on Tuesday, the first of three on the road this week to end the season. VGK has to win out to have any hopes of making it into the playoffs. Learn more about your ad choices.
