Episode #86: Camille Martin - How to Be Happy & Self-Confident in Your Own Body
About Camille Martin: Camille Martin is a registered dietitian, health blogger, and senior technical editor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is also a former chronic dieter who wasted nearly 25 years of her life on a diet. When she finally quit dieting and started setting and achieving more meaningful goals, she lost weight without trying. She also made powerful connections between women’s obsession to lose weight and the cultural conditioning that keeps them locked in a prison of silence, shame, and limitation. In her book, Love To Lose: Love Your Life and Watch the Weight Lose Itself, she uses what she learned on her own weight-loss journey to help other women stop wasting their lives on a diet, embrace everything about themselves, achieve what they’re truly capable of − and lose weight in the process. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in nutrition from Georgia State University. She is a vegetarian, marathon runner, and avid reader who loves to travel. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her two daughters and their rescue dogs. What We Discuss In This Episode: Camille shares her journey through life as a serial dieter – always trying to get those same 10-15 pounds of weight off. Many of us have been there and totally can relate to her story. She found herself facing bulimia before realizing she had to make some changes. After taking some college classes, Camille went on to become a Registered Dietician. While this has served her well, she has really found her passion in helping her clients find goals outside the “weight loss” arena and in the process, they find themselves losing weight and feeling happier and more joyful. Women, especially, have a tendency to have their emotions tied to food and for many of Camille’s clients, and even us as we  listen in, find some ‘ah-ha’ moments when we realize that the patterns of binge eating, addiction to food, and eating for comfort may not have been recognized by us in the past. Camille opens up this discussion for us so that we can become more in tune with our bodies and our emotions so that we can become more aware of what serves our body and what does not. Camille closes us out with some fantastic tips for our day-to-day lives that can change the game (so to speak) for us. LLN Episode #82: Andrea Raco - Stepping Stones to Success
About Andrea Raco: Andrea Raco, is a Certified Success and Life Enrichment Coach, an Author & Copywriter, and the Founder of Coach for Life - a coaching and consulting agency specializing in helping women create a business they love and craft their Masterpiece life through partnership, collaboration, and tried & tested solutions. Andrea's creative passions culminate as a connector & Curator of Gold Key Club ~ her private online space for Ladypreneurs, Supermoms, and Sisters making a difference in the world with their unique talents.   What We Discuss In This Episode: A little bit about what I do on a professional level.  I'm a Success and Life Enrichment Coach and a Business Strategist.  Coaching is such an interpretive description and often, people have no idea what it means, so to make it a little more clear, what I'm passionate about is helping women design their Masterpiece Life or a business they love.  I specialize in blending tried and tested success principles with individualized solutions and provide a customized coaching experience where I partner with my clients.  Through consultation and co-creation, we tackle what's most important to help them move forward toward their goals.   I've been building the coaching practice full-time now for six years and I'm delighted with it.  I absolutely love the relationship I have with my clientele and what I'm extremely passionate about is my private Facebook community.  Why is this cause/initiative particularly important to you? Gold Key Club is my passion project.  It is a community I curate and is dedicated to bringing strategies, solutions, and inspiration to women looking to live their life by design and create a business they love.  It's about connection and collaboration and I get very excited about facilitating those helpful connections and getting people the help they need. How did you get started? I've been coaching people for 30 years and started as a writing coach when I was in university.  Following graduation, I became a Commercial Insurance Broker and built that career for many years and even took a turn in direct sales for a bit.  What I loved most about all of those roles was helping people and making a difference for them.  We had 4 kids in 3 years and 3 months so I left the insurance profession behind to raise my children and when they were all in school full time, I became certified as a life coach and started Coach For Life instead of going back to the insurance industry.  That put me in direct control of my schedule and gave me the flexibility to be available for my family too.   What was the biggest obstacle you faced? How did you overcome it? Building my business was a slow start actually because just after I become certified and started to put the pieces of the puzzle of my business together, my husband was diagnosed with lymphoma.  This put my business development plans on hold and it really did look like he wasn't going to make it.  It was a real life-changer for us.  Our kids were little, My daughter was 9, my middle son was 8 and our fraternal twin boys were 6.  We live far from family so we didn't have much support.  That was a very challenging time.  Miraculously, they found the right chemo cocktail for him and he turned the corner just in the nick of time so our kids were able to keep their father.  Then, a year later, just as he was returning to work and we thought we were in the clear, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer - so more treatment and recovering time.  I'm convinced that my cancer was a result of his diagnosis.  It was such a stressful time, there was so much uncertainty about our future and the future of our kids.  It was terrifying really.  I wasn't sleeping, wasn't making wise food choices, certainly wasn't exercising.  My weight ballooned, there was no self-care plan whatsoever.  It really was full-on survival mode. Those were, by far, the most challenging times for us and I'm not sure which was worse - watching my husband battle his cancer or facing that cancer monster myself.  Honestly, that experience totally changed us.  It shifted how we divided up our time, what we prioritized in our lives, the experiences we wanted to create for our children, how we spend our money.  It all shifted.  Today, I'm SO grateful for every day.  My health comes first to prevent a recurrence and we prioritize things that bring us more joy.  I can't stress enough this point for your listeners:  if regular, self-care isn't a part of your daily life - it's time to change that right now.  That's why I love what you do and how you do it, Lynne, you make adding self-care into your daily life so simple - and it's so important.    What TIPS can you give our listeners who are looking to transform their lives? The most impactful strategy I can share with your listeners who are looking for a transformation is to be intentional with their time.  Time is the True Currency of Life, this was an important lesson that Cancer taught us - we can always make more money and we can improve our relationships or increase our business or improve our health - but every minute that passes, every day that slips away brings us closer to the end of those for us.  That's a hard, cold, fact.  So if there's something that speaks to your heart or stirs your soul - stop wasting your precious time.  Go for it.  Make a plan to achieve what it is that you want for yourself - THIS is your life.  You don't get another shot at it.  And time's going to pass by anyway...so honestly...don't waste another minute, another day, week, month, or year.  Figure out what you want...and go for it.  BONUS: Can you lead us through a quick practical exercise?  Ok, so I know, I know, goalsetting gets a bad rap.  No one likes to set New Years' Resolutions anymore because they're afraid to fail, but here's a newsflash...FAILURE is simply a stepping stone to success.  Missing the goal is not a failure if the lesson is not lost.  All you have to do to NOT FAIL is adjust and try again.  Find another way, employ a different strategy, learn something new to help you win.   And GOALSETTING is THE Key to designing the life you love.  We can't hit targets we don't see so set some targets.  When you become a master at setting goals, you'll become a master at winning in life. So, take a few moments, grab a notebook or your journal and pick 1 area you'd like to make changes in your life.  Oftentimes, at the beginning of a New Year, it's about health or finances, but it could be anything, your love relationship, your family, your business, your hobbies, and talents...anything you want... pick one for yourself.   Write that down. Next, think of the ultimate goal in that area. What is it that you want to achieve?  Visualize what success would look like for you or mean to you if time and money were no obstacle.  Write that down.  Did you know that when you write down your goals, you're way more likely to achieve them? Next, WHY do you want to achieve your goal?  What is motivating you?  What will be different for you when you get there?  How will your life be affected?  How will others be affected by your success?  Write that stuff down too.    The next step is to figure out what you have to do to succeed.  What do you need to learn?  Who do you need to talk to?  Who do you need to BECOME to achieve success and win that thing you want? Last STEP - PLAN It Out.  Figure out the smaller, stepping-stone targets you'll need to hit to get to the ultimate goal.   And Celebrate along the way.  This is a lifelong process...so be sure to celebrate those milestone wins as you get closer to creating what it is that you want.  Our mind is an incredible thing and once you set it on something, and commit to doing the work to achieve it, it'll work day and night to help you find solutions to make that goal a reality for you....but it all starts with design.  You have the paintbrush...YOU also have the power to create your masterpiece. What do you attribute your success to? There are so many factors that have contributed to the success I've enjoyed.  I've had some incredible influencers and encouragers in my life.  I've always had an unrelenting determination to win.  No matter how long it takes or what it takes, I'm focused on learning what it is that I need to know and doing what it is that I need to do to win that goal.  I refuse to accept failure and I also refuse to accept victim mentality in my coaching practice too.  There's always a solution to be found.  There's always a path forward.  If one way doesn't work, no problem, we'll find another way.   And I attribute that attitude to my father now that I think of it.  It was something he taught me as a kid.  He was a big planner and always strategizing about how to make things work out.  I've also always been a reader - a student of life really.  We have the wealth of knowledge of the entire human race at our fingertips, literally, and entire generations are wasting their precious time on TicTock. It's heartbreaking, really.  What are some daily habits that keep you focused and motivated? Oh, this is a great question!  We are what we do daily and the choices we make determine the life we lead.   Ever since my cancer diagnosis and the diabetes diagnosis that followed my chemotherapy, I dedicate the first 2 hours of the day for self-care.  It includes a 60-minute workout, a healthy breakfast, a coffee, lemon water and a date with my journal to set up my day for success.  I make choices to support my health at every meal and snack, stay hydrated throughout the day and then I finish up the day with a quick note in my journal evaluating the day - what did I win?  What didn't work? What needs adjusting for the next day.  This little daily debriefing practice only takes a few minutes and helps me sleep sounds knowing that the next day will be awesome too.  It's how I win the day - every day.  Final thoughts for our listeners If you're a solution-oriented woman on a mission to design the life or business you love, I'd be delighted if you'd join me in my private community.  You'll find a bunch of like-minded women in Gold Key Club and we share strategies, solutions, and inspiration to win - in life and in business. LLN Episode #80:  Lynne Wadsworth-  3 Simple Ways for You to Live an Energized, Healthy  & Revitalized Life
About Lynne Wadsworth: Lynne Wadsworth is the owner and founder of Holistic Health & Wellness, LLC.  She is an AADP Certified Holistic Health and Wellness Practitioner and Certified Wellness Cooking Instructor.  She earned her certification through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. Lynne’s area of expertise involves working with women who are in midlife who are tired of the changes they see and experience on a daily basis. She helps them achieve a higher level of health, allowing them to experience more energy, less belly bloat, fewer mood swings, headaches, sugar cravings, and weight loss. She believes that living in health and wellness takes in many areas of our lives, not just with diet and healthy eating. She helps her clients make permanent changes  Her passion and desire is to help women their mojo back again, lose weight, feel healthy, energized, and rejuvenated. Life is not over just because you have reached midlife. In fact, it can be fun, joyful and fulfilling. She firmly believes life CAN BEGIN at 40. What We Discuss In This Episode: Health and wellness became a passion because of my own struggles. I learned the hard way that bad habits produce bad health. I spent many years yo-yo dieting – and we all know where that leads, right? And it’s certainly not to good health. So, when you hear me talk about “diet” as I may do today, it’s about the healthy way of eating – the kind of food that we eat – that makes up our diet or healthy lifestyle. I learned to get out what I call that “diet mentality” and choose a healthy lifestyle instead. In this episode, we’ll talk about some of the basic things relating to creating a healthy life for yourself – some of the basic, easy to create, healthy habits – because they’re the foundation for living that healthy life.  There are many aspects of living a healthy life – and many more reasons why we want to achieve that optimal health. But it’s important to remember that …. SMALL STEPS = BIG CHANGES Today, we’ll look at 3 things: MINDSET –that’s one of the biggest solutions we don’t think about so often. SELF CARE – because I believe Health Care is Self-Care MOVEMENT AND EXERCISE – because this is sooo good for our overall health. MINDSET AFFECTS EVERYTHING Many of us are so conditioned to focus on the ‘what if I fail’ thoughts and have the ‘I could never do that’ mindset which of course, stops us from reaching our goals. The truth is that you are who and what you tell yourself you are, not what anyone else tells you. Here's why you'll want to shift out of excuse mindset and INTO a Solution-Oriented Winning one: It's YOUR life. It's Your health. It's YOUR body. It’s your longevity... Ultimately, your happiness and satisfaction are what's at stake. It all starts with your mindset and there's no one else responsible for your success except you! Taking that first huge step of getting your mindset where it needs to be and setting some goals, start taking some steps today that will create the positive, strong mindset you need.  HEALTH CARE = SELF CARE We all MAKE the time for what’s important – and your health and wellness IS important.  Time is our most precious resource – and we want to use it wisely to take care of ourselves. Self-care, self-love, self-support, self-nurturing … whatever you want to call it, it’s the very BEST investment you can make for your physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing. And let’s dispense right now with some misconceptions about self-care:  Taking time for yourself to relax, replenish and rejuvenate is NOT being lazy, selfish or self-centered.  Too often, we feel guilty for taking time to take care of ourselves.  If that’s how you feel when you spend some time nurturing yourself, then it’s time to leave that mindset in the dust. Self-care is not selfish. It’s the most important, foundational concept to honoring your health and wellness. It puts you fully in control of your own happiness – and ONLY YOU are responsible for your happiness and your wellness. To make Self-Care super simple – think of it as something that supports your Mind, Body & Soul - your physical needs, your intellectual and emotional needs as well as your soul nourishment – what makes you joyful. We all need to unwind & rejuvenate and replenish each day, but many people get so wrapped up in their busy lives that they don't bother to take any time at all to care for themselves. Having a regular self-care plan replenishes and renews your spirit. It's the act of doing something for yourself to support your overall health and wellness. Another great key ingredient of self-care includes our sleep. We don’t always think of it in terms of what sleep does for our overall health, weight loss, hormones, or other aspects of our life. There’s absolutely no question that getting enough quality sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health and is a great way to practice self-care! A better night’s sleep can be achieved, and it’s not that difficult! MOVEMENT AND EXERCISE Did you know that that one little word, exercise, simply means moving your body, and it may be the closest thing to being the fountain of youth? Here’s why you want to make just 30 minutes of daily MOVEMENT a part of your regular health care and self-care routine:  Keeps you young Reduces infections Prevents heart attacks Eases asthma Controls blood sugar Can significantly cut the risk of developing type II diabetes. Protects against cancer and cancer recurrences Combats stress Can help relieve depression as effectively as antidepressant medication. Prolongs life There’s no pill, elixir or quick-fix remedy that has ever been developed or is in development that can do all that! The first step is DECIDING that exercise and movement is a priority and so you should be working other things in your schedule around it.  If it’s not a big enough priority, the “excuses” can always creep in. Once the decision to move more for your health has been made, the next step is to set realistic goals. It’s not always easy, but once you get started and see how great you feel (and look) you’re going to love having that energy boost and how seeing great your clothes feel. Moving your body more is part of achieving balanced health. And, whether you want to exercise to help you move better, look better, feel better and age better – or to support your weight loss goals by burning more calories and fat – the time to start is now. And it won’t take much for you to begin to feel better.  Try it for 30 days and I’ll bet you’ll start to see and feel improvements to your health by the end of the month.  In this episode, we’ve only talked about three things – but each one is a key ingredients to living a healthy life and being healthier and more joyful. But these are important keys: Mindset, Self-Care, and Movement – and we didn’t even touch the tip of the iceberg with these key steps.  But remember, we achieve that healthy balance in our lives one step at a time.  We start by adding one habit at a time – keeping that positive attitude – being mindful of how we respect and treat our body, making sure we move more. If you are not doing any of these right now, I would challenge you to take that first step – MAKE THE DECISION. GET STARTED. Try it for 30 days, if that’s how long it takes for you to make it a happy, and then once you have one habit down pat, go on to the next. Remember, this is a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE – no more “diet mentality.” It’s not about unsustainable deprivation – it’s about a healthy lifestyle – making those changes, one step at a time. Life is a journey. One to be enjoyed. It can be exciting, filled with energy, and full of happiness and joy. Our aim is health, happiness, and a long, long life. And it is possible to live in better health. Remember, it’s JUST a DECISION. LLN Episode #77: Dr. Angela DeRosa - How to Know Which Hormone Therapy is Right for You During Midlife
About Dr. Angela DeRosa: Dr. Angela DeRosa’s enthusiasm for educating patients on the realities of menopause and the risk factors hormonal health imbalances was the driving force behind her first bestselling book, “How Your Doctor Is Slowly Killing You: A Woman’s Health Survival Guide.”  In 2018, she launched The Hormonal Health Institute: Executive Instruction for Medical Professionals, a hormonal healthcare consultancy designed to instruct medical providers and provide practice development training on bioidentical hormone replacement therapies. In addition to her educational and clinical activities, Dr. DeRosa serves as the medical director for Belmar Pharma Solutions where she provides clinical and scientific technical support for all aspects of the business as well as clinical expertise for internal and external customers. Dr. DeRosa, is a dynamic professional on a mission to change the face of women’s health and wellness. She has more than 25 years of experience in the medical field, both on the pharmaceutical side and in clinical practice, and is an internationally recognized authority on women’s hormonal health. Dr. DeRosa understands the range of health issues women face and is enthusiastic about educating patients on the realities of menopause and the risk factors of hormonal health imbalances. What We Discuss In This Episode: Dr. DeRosa talks frankly about some of the misconceptions of hormone therapy. Dr. DeRosa discusses the importance of custom tailoring hormone treatments instead of using a “one size fits all” approach. Even with bioidentical hormones, we need an expert’s touch to get the right therapies and balances so as not to harm out health. This relates to both men and women, young and older. Dr. DeRosa shares the evidence of how compounded hormones work for millions of people. In the past, especially as women in perimenopause, we have been a little “scared” of hormone therapy as a whole. Hearing pros and cons from both side. Dr. DeRosa succinctly shares the benefits of using this “individualized approach” to help men and women, not just in menopause, but all throughout life. The balancing of hormones has a beneficial effect throughout our entire life and in Dr. DeRosa’s own words, “I’ll never stop taking hormones to the day I die.” What is it that’s so important about this balance? LLN Episode #75: Dr. Renee Wellenstein - How do you get past that Low Libido to have a Healthy, Happy Life?
About Dr. Renee Wellenstein: Dr. Renee is a double board certified doctor who has been working with women for over 20 years and due to her own personal health challenges, she stepped outside the box of conventional medicine to take a radically different approach to heal herself from the deep depths of burnout. About a decade ago, Dr. Renee was living what she thought was her dream life; she was an extremely busy OB/GYN, married to a doctor, with toddler twins and had moved to a quaint, quiet town in the country. One day in May 2012, Dr. Renee fell off of her horse during a riding lesson and broke her back. She not only struggled with severe back pain, but with fatigue and the inability to focus. Her doctor diagnosed her with depression, but her symptoms did not improve after trying two different antidepressants. Two years after her injury, Dr. Renee was still struggling with unexplained symptoms. After exhausting all of her options in the conventional healthcare system, she was put in contact with a doctor who was an “anti-aging” practitioner. She finally received the appropriate diagnosis, her symptoms resolved and she got back on her feet and joined the world of functional medicine. In August 2019, Dr. Renee started Kaspira Elite Health Consulting, LLC. Throughout her journey she has certainly faced her fair share of obstacles and has mastered the art of leaping into transitions with each pivot. Now Dr. Renee empowers women to take control of their health, jumpstart their energy, improve their confidence, and reignite their libido!   What We Discuss In This Episode: Dr. Renee is an expert in sharing different aspects of a woman’s life, at any age, where she may have a low libido in women. Although this is a topic people often shy away from talking about, we tackle this issue in this podcast to help women rise above and have a healthier body and healthier well-being. We always think of this as being something that affects peri-menopausal and menopausal women, but that’s not the case. Dr. Renee treats women as young as 20. Dr. Renee shares how women can start right away to improve libido – and it isn’t difficult. She gives us some simple steps to get on the road to heal this issue with ease. Her background in career counseling is also handy for clients with work-related problems, dual career stress, or achieving better work-life balance.  Elena’s approach to sensitive and uncomfortable topics is her signature, using a humane and non-judgmental style to better uncover people’s strengths, unrecognized needs, new or underutilized talents, and problem-solving abilities. Those who have crossed paths with her often cite her sense of humor and “patience of Job” as two of the sharpest tools in her skill box. Paul is an authority figure on food and agricultural sustainability.  He is a regular podcast guest and has been invited on hundreds of news outlets, including StarTalk Radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson, The Rich Roll Podcast, and CNN.  He’s also published hundreds of articles ranging from daily newspapers such as The Washington Post to pop-sci publications like Scientific American as well as magazines like FORTUNE and academic journals.    What We Discuss In This Episode: In this episode, we discuss at length the question of this decade – food and agricultural sustainability. Since there’s so much discussion around our meat sources, GMO sources, etc., this is a very timely interview where Paul discusses his exciting business and how we can eat from better sources, and even how to recognize what that meat source is. We discuss why anyone would want to grow real meat from animal cells, as well as the difference between plant-based burgers and meat grown from cells. Paul’s company, The Better Meat Co., uses microbial fermentation to grow meat-like foods. It may sound new to you, but Paul does an excellent job of discussing how that is different from making plant-based meat in today’s market. This is a fascinating subject, and of course, Paul’s pit bull, Eddie gets several mentions throughout the podcast. If this feels like a mystery to you, then listen in, and let Paul break it down for you. She helps them achieve a higher level of health, allowing them to experience more energy, less belly bloat, fewer mood swings, headaches, sugar cravings, and weight loss. She believes that living in health and wellness takes in many areas of our lives, not just with diet and healthy eating. She helps her clients make permanent changes  Her passion and desire are to help women their mojo back again, lose weight, and feel healthy, energized, and rejuvenated. Life is not over just because you have reached midlife. In fact, it can be fun, joyful, and fulfilling. She firmly believes life CAN BEGIN at 40.  What We Discuss In This Episode: If your 2021 has been anything like mine, it brought about lots of changes – the past 18 months have been a little scary, and a lot crazy.  As we go into the fall season, I’m always excited to recommit to my health and wellness and I know many of you are too.  That’s why I decided to talk to you about just some of the pillars of health and wellbeing, and in the short time we have together, pack it full of simple strategies to help you move forward with your health goals!  The first pillar I want to mention is about  Making Time. We all know that we feel we don’t have enough time, right?  Many of us have great intentions, but we get tired.  Life happens.  Working is exhausting.  Our family can take it out of us and we don’t follow through. Here's the thing I've learned about time:  We all MAKE the time for what's most important to us.  Time is the most precious resource we have at our disposal. On this earth, we only have a limited amount of time to spend with our friends, family, and loved ones. Whatever you do, remember -   Keep It Super Simple When managing your time, the most effective way I’ve found to be successful each day is to start by creating a morning ritual that involves some self-care. Starting the day off this way helps you achieve a successful, thriving, and abundant life. In this episode, we talk about how you can create an awesome Miracle Morning Ritual.  Having a miracle morning ritual can help you have a better self-care routine. And when it comes to time management, be sure to ORGANIZE & Prioritize. The second pillar touches on Healthy Eating because eating healthy isn’t just about losing or maintaining weight. It’s more about making choices that support your health along the way as much as possible. Why eat foods that make you feel sluggish, bloated, headachy, moody, and more. Make sure that what you eat nourishes you and makes you feel more energized. In this episode, I give you some easy ideas for eating healthy without adding more time to your day. Plus we touch on how you can eat mindfully to help you be even healthier.  Then comes the all-important third pillar-- Getting healthy, regenerative sleep.  We talk about how much sleep you might need, plus the downsides of not getting enough sleep. The truth is, not getting enough good quality sleep impacts our brain health and memory in the long term, and even our body’s ability to detoxify and renew itself leading to an exponential increase in diseases like obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune disorders, and adrenal dysregulation. When was the last time you woke up without an alarm, refreshed, AND didn’t need a big bucket of coffee to get kick-started in the morning? I give you some of my best tips to help you get better sleep.  Did I leave the best till last? You decide! Pillar #4 is all about Movement. Despite the fact that we feel we don’t have enough time for this it is SO important for your health. Getting just a bit of regular ‘movement’ each day will give you SO many benefits if you can JUST GET YOUR BODY up off that chair, off the comfy couch, out of the car seat…wherever it is that you spend the majority of your waking hours. I share why you want to make just 30 minutes of daily MOVEMENT a part of your regular self-care routine. Not only does regular activity strengthen your muscles and improve heart and lung function, but it also reduces your risk of illness and disease, stimulates the growth of new brain cells, adding years to your life. There is no pill, elixir, or quick-fix remedy that has ever been developed or is in development that can do all that! Here’s the thing. Most of us know that exercise and movement is good for us, but the biggest obstacle is time. So let’s delve into that so more. So, the first step is DECIDING that moving your body more is important enough to make it a priority and working other things in your schedule around it.  Giving your body the gift of movement regularly will actually help you feel energized, sleep better, help you tune into your body’s hunger and thirst needs, and relieve your stress…see how that works? Moving your body more is part of achieving balanced health. And, whether you want to exercise to help you feel better, look better, and age better – or to support your weight loss goals by burning more calories – or even balance your hormones – the time to start is now. So these have just been a few of the pillars and building blocks for health – whatever your health needs are. There are more strategies and building blocks we could talk about but I just picked 4 today. LLN Episode #66: Sam Visnic- Simple Strategies to Live Beyond Chronic Pain & Enjoy Freedom Every Day
About Sam Visnic: Sam Visnic has spent his life studying the fundamental aspects of human health with a focus on movement and clinical massage therapy.  In a world of specialists, surgical procedures, drugs, and quick-fix remedies, he’s committed to finding and developing strategies that help people stuck at the “gap.” Sam has studied dozens of systems and methodologies for uncovering the root cause of aches and pains, along with postural and movement issues.  Pain science, the art and science of hands-on soft tissue massage techniques, myofascial release, and coaching movement are essential in his practice.  Integrating different methods but above all deciphering WHEN to use different techniques with different people and situations, along with the integration of movements that people want to be able to do again is the key to long-term success with Sam’s incredible track record with his personal clients. Understanding the various elements that contribute to conditions and the power of communication and education makes his Release Muscle Therapy program unique from other hands-on therapeutic approaches. What We Discuss in This Episode: Sam’s passion has evolved over the last 20 years. He loves to help his clients learn how to be proactive and prevent injury. We know much more now about pain and the physiology of pain, and Sam shares how he’s been able to integrate this into his practice with movement specifically targeted for what the individual is dealing with. Sam tells us why this time and age has brought more chronic pain into today’s lifestyle. He goes back to when these types of things could have begun and our responses to the persistent pain in our lives. He believes we over x-ray and over MRI a person’s issues bringing them to surgical prevention or medication intervention. Sam works to bring about a better response to pain so that we can actually live without this vicious cycle of pain. He explains the process of why we still might feel pain even after tissue has healed in our bodies. Sam teaches people about chronic pain and sensitivity in our nervous system and digs into what other factors might be involved when it comes to chronic pain. The more we understand the nervous system, the easier it is to navigate this process to bring our system back into homeostasis.  It’s not just a mechanical fix for us but it also involves other factors influencing our response to certain therapies. He gives some examples of how this works for us and how we can get beyond the fear or apprehension of engaging in therapeutic intervention from past responses so that we can engage in these therapies and activities to help bring about healing. He shares some tips on how we can get beyond chronic pain and all that comes along with it so that we can truly get beyond this point and live in hope and healing.   Free Resources from Sam Visnic: Free copy of his digital book + other resources found at bottom of homepage: https://releasemuscletherapy.com Connect with Sam Visnic:  Website: https://releasemuscletherapy.com Facebook: https://facebook.com/releasemuscletherapy Instagram: https://instagram.com/releasemuscletherapy YouTube: https://youtube.com/samvisnic   Connect with Lynne: If you are looking for a community of like-minded women on a journey - just like you are - to improved health and wellness, overall balance, and increased confidence, check out Lynne's private community in The Energized & Healthy Women's Club.
