Connecting the Classics Ep. 29: Wu-Tang to Spice Girls
Connecting the Classics is an In The Points podcast. We'll probably post it on your feed once a month or so, but you can subscribe to Connecting the Classics for weekly episodes!!!!!! Episode 29 is the '90s episode. Will picked Wu-Tang Clan's 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).' Lee picked Spice Girls' 'Spice' (really will picked both). The two hosts connect these two classic albums of the '90s using tangential references, Kevin Bacon style. Listen to hear some good discussions about the 90s, plus some good music. Plus some Ariana Grande. On this show, points are awarded. The points don't matter, but there is a winner. Award points to each of the hosts as you listen, and then answer this Surveymonkey to let us know who you think won! www.surveymonkey.com/r/XZX5DCM Thanks for listening! Email us at connectingtheclassics@gmail.com with suggestions for future topics or albums to cover, or if you just wanna leave some feedback. Subscribe rate & review too please! And tell your friends about the best damn weekly radio hour on the internet.

Willapedia: Laika (ft. Anna Fryxell)
Willapedia is a show in which host Will Hagle explains topics he knows nothing about, using Wikipedia as his only source. This season, Will is talking about dogs. For this inaugural episode, he discusses Laika with his guest, producer Anna Fryxell. Laika (Russian: Лайка; c. 1954 – 3 November 1957) was a Soviet space dog who became one of the first animals in space, and the first animal to orbit the Earth. Season 5, Episode 4: Chris Crack
Chris Crack joined us on the Red Lion patio with Surfboard C to talk Chicago, LA, rap, music, the internet, titty milk and cookies. It'll all make sense later. Chris Crack is one of the best rappers alive in Chicago, LA, or anywhere, and both he and Surfboard C had a lot of interesting stuff to say. I think the fans in Pakistan, or anywhere, are going to like this one. We hit the classic segments like Street Sweeping, In The Pooches, Shits Fired, Co-Sign, the Four Points, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat As always, we bring edits with the most undisputedly classic drops in all of Silver Lake. And we drank Spaten and ate German food. Shout out to the Red Lion staff. Listen to Chris Crack's many good projects on your streaming platform of choice. Follow Chris Crack @ChrisCrackNDC. Follow Surfboard  C @Surfboard_C. Follow LFTRL @livefromredlion. 'Crackheads Live Longer Than Vegans' coming soon, according to Chris Crack's plug at the end of this show.

Season 5, Episode 3: Justin Lain
Back in December, Justin Lain joined us at the Red Lion patio. We discussed his monthly sketch show Blackverse, which at the time had a show coming up. Well now it's 2 months later, the weather has changed in LA, and Hamburger Jones is no longer a trending topic, but Blackverse still has a show coming up (THURSDAY, FEB 14 .. valentines day ... at 9pm , and then every 2nd thursday of the month after that). In this classic season 5 episode, we talk about Blackverse, Justin's start in comedy in New Orleans and Chicago, Bitburger, Keummerling, and much more. We also hit the classic segments like In The Pooches, Co-Sign, How Do You Think The Podcast Is Going So Far?, On The Record, The Four Points, Shits Fired, Street Sweeping, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. Thanks as always to our fans in Pakistan, Den Haag, Korea, Duke University, and elsewhere around the globe. We've got more #hotcontent and #freshmaterial coming for Season 5.

Season 5, Episode 2: Brian Babylon
Brian Babylon joined us on the Red Lion patio to discuss his new album 'Babylon Ball Z,' working in Chicago public radio, getting a man weave, and much more. He's known to be a great storyteller and he didn't disappoint while talking over Red Lion's finest: delicious chicken schnitzel, cabbage, Bitburger, and keummerling. Brian is the self-proclaimed Prince of Bronzeville. You might have heard him on NPR's 'Wait Wait Don't Tell Me' or in comedy clubs around the world. Now, you can hear him on Season 5, Episode 2 of the best edited podcast in the fucking game (aka Silver Lake), Live From The Red Lion. As always, this is our best episode yet. We appreciate the support from everyone in Silver Lake, Pakistan, and beyond. Please listen to this and then go check out Brian Babylon's new album 'Babylon Ball Z' because it is really really great. Shout out again to the Red Lion staff.

Season 5, Episode 1: Mike Upchurch
SEASON 5 begins with our guest, Mike Upchurch. Mike has written for just about every great sketch comedy show in television history, including Mr. Show, The Chris Rock Show, MadTV, and Storage Wars. In this podcast, he talks about his experiences at each of those shows. AND THEN WE BREATHALYZE OURSELVES. Mike also wrote a master's thesis at UNLV about the poetics of sketch comedy so we go deep on topics like "lateral cohesion" and "dropping the cow." But even if you don't like sketch comedy, we also get into some great topics like growing up in Vegas with a poker dealer father, ketchup, Bitburger, burgers, fries, chocolate cake and ice cream, keummerling, the new president of Pakistan, and more. AND THEN WE BREATHALYZE OURSELVES. We also hit the classic segments like the Four Points, In The Pooches, Co-Sign, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. AND THEN WE BREATHALYZE OURSELVES. STAY TUNED TO THE END FOR THE RESULTS. Shout out as usual to the Red Lion and all the Red Lion staff for their continued hospitality. Thank you as usual to all of our fans in Pakistan and beyond. Mike Upchurch is a talented guy and you're gonna hear a lot of wisdom and learn about a lot of TV shows by listening to this episode. There's a little bit of background noise but you can deal with it. Thank you. We're excited for season 5 and you better be too. #ketchup #comedy #mikeupchurch #podcast #lftrl #inthepoints #redlion #livefromtheredlion #comedypodcast #sketchcomedy #madtv #storagewars #georgelopezshow #mrshow #mastersthesis #yaddademeng #who #mikejones

The Bird & The Bear Episode 1: Road Trip To PNC Park
The Bird (Jeff Starwalt) & The Bear (Jim Hagle) take 30 minutes out of their 8-hour drive from Pittsburgh to Champaign to recap their road trip to PNC Park to watch the Cubs lose twice to the Pirates. They discuss all the bars and restaurants they visited along the way, the people they met, and the good times they had. They also describe the meaning of sports peace*, and rank their Top 5 Favorite Ball Parks in America. I (Will of Live from the Red Lion) asked my dad (Jim, The Bear) to record a podcast with Jeff (the Bird) on this trip. They've been talking about it for years, since before I ever started doing podcasts. They came back with this hilarious episode, proving that their years of bantering about baseball in the car has prepared them to be podcast professionals. I honestly want to retire because they're better than me. If you're a fan of baseball, sports, food, beer, or listening to a couple of old geezers talk while cruisin' the open road, you'll enjoy this podcast. The definition of "Sports Peace": You Can't Love Your Home Team With Hate In Your Heart.

Season 4, Episode 9: Anna Fryxell
Season 4 concludes with another great episode from the Red Lion with our guest, Anna Fryxell. Anna is a producer for the YouTube channel Mixed Makeup as well as a comedic genius behind classic sketch ideas like "Adult Babies." She also has worked in a plastic surgeon's office so we talk Botox, Tummy Tucks, and Brazilian Butt Lifts, as well as the psychological reasons behind all of them. Anna also goes in-depth on her PHD thesis about beauty around the world. And we go through Jake's Tinder for him and talk about boycotting Sqirl. Also we talk about ITP and how were gonna sell so much merch we're gonna be rich. And lots of other stuff. We also hit the classic segments like In The Pooches, Co-Sign, The Four Points, and Shits Fired. No Kit Kat Quick Chat this time unfortunately. Honestly, we say it every time but this podcast just keeps getting better. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff and all our fans in Pakistan, Silver Lake, and beyond. We will be back bigger and better than ever beFOUR for season 5. But until then, enjoy this classic episode.

Season 4, Episode 8: Dylan McGrath
One of the highest ranked Rocket League players in the world, Dylan McGrath, joined us on the Red Lion patio to talk about Meek Mill, The Simpsons, the MLS, growing up in New Jersey near Philly, being a sketch comedian, improv, Rocket League, Psychic Space Trains, and many other good things. We also hit the classic segments like Street Sweepin', In The Pooches, The Four Points, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. Ohhhhh yeahhhh we got so many good segments. ITP SEASON 4 AIN'T NO JOKE!!!! We took an extremely long time to put this episode out but rest assured that it is amazing. It's been a busy time for us here at ITP but we're still committed to providing you with quality content and we're sorry that there's been such a delay between our podcasts lately. We know there's not much else to listen to in Pakistan or anywhere else in the world so hopefully you can enjoy this new dose of #hotcontent and #freshmaterial from us. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff for being such gracious hosts, and shout out to all our fans elsewhere around the world. Look out for Dylan McGrath performing sketch comedy at The Pack Theater every second Sunday as part of the amazing group Detention, and look out for Psychic Space Trains coming to a YouTube near you soon.

Season 4, Episode 7: Bert Kreischer
Bert Kreischer joined us on the Red Lion patio to drink Bitburger and Killepitsch and Kuemmerling and talk about himself a lot in yet another classic Season 4 episode of Live From The Red Lion. We get into Bert's favorite podcasts, his forthcoming Netflix special, and his past nicknames, which include Flash, Wild Boy, Nature Boy, and The Machine. We also take a look at his phone search history and get his thoughts on "Jeselnik vs. Owen Benjamin" and running the LA marathon without training. We also talk about Bert's favorite subjects, like Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, Doug Stanhope, comedy, Instagram, drinking, podcasting, and more. We also discuss our Subway orders and talk about a bunch of other stuff that's more interesting to listen to than it would be to read about here. Rest assured we also hit the classic segments like The Four Points, Street Sweepin', In The Pooches, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. He also gives a nice little life lesson about being a fan of things. If you're a fan of podcasts, you'll probably like this one. We're definitely the most well-edited podcast in Silver Lake but this podcast goes into the details of other podcasts that do things well and what makes podcasts great in general. Shout out to Kottie Kreischer for making this podcast a reality. And shout out as always to the Red Lion staff for being so accommodating, letting us podcast in the corner, and bringing us so many delicious pitchers of Bitburger and so many piping hot awesome plates of sausage. We love the fans new and old, in Pakistan and beyond.

Season 4, Episode 6: Bennington Sullivan Grant
Bennington Sullivan Grant claims this is going to be our MOST CONTROVERSIAL PODCAST YET. Is he right? Listen to find out. Bennington is a comedian and a writer currently working on his debut novel. He joined us on the Red Lion patio to talk about being home schooled, leaving Virginia to come to LA, working for Dominos, and all of the writing projects he's currently working on. We also get into Bennington's rankings of the Pack Theater's 16 sketch comedy teams in a new segment entitled IN THE POINTS PRESENTS: INSIDE THE BASEBALL. We hit the classic segments like Street Sweepin' (theme song by Devin Crittenden), the Four Points, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. But really this is an in-depth, at times dark, examination of Bennington's psyche. It's really closer to an episode of WTF than it is LFTRL, but it's still RRGO (really really good overall). Seriously, Bennington's story is super interesting and it's worth listening even if we laugh or sip #bitburger silently while he bares his sweet, soft, sincere, soul to us. Honestly this podcast IS controversial because it's so damn well edited. We keep getting better and better at podcasting and thank you all for appreciating us and listening. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff for being so accommodating and letting us do the podcast there. Some slight audio issues but it should be alright. Catch Bennington performing every last Sunday of the month at the Pack Theater as part of the house sketch team Very Famous. You can also catch him at UCB and elsewhere around LA. And catch his debut novel coming out on Amazon Kindle later this year. Thank you again to all the fans around the world who bought a mug. Thank you to Bennington Sullivan Grant for being on this podcast. Thank you to the Red Lion Tavern in Silver Lake, Los Angeles for being such a great place to call home. Thank you.

Waiting for Desto w/ Erika Curry, Liam Schauerman, and Austin Quinn
SURPRISE PODCAST. THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL ITP SEASON 4 LIVE FROM THE RED LION PODCAST. THIS IS A BONUS EPISODE. We were supposed to interview Desto Dubb, a great and funny rapper who decided not show up to the Red Lion. Instead, we had a classic episode where we called up some great past guests like Erika Curry, Liam Schauerman, Austin Quinn, Lee Robinson, and Drew Nollsch. We also hit some classic segments like In The Pooches and maybe some other ones. ITP has some exciting guests on the horizon but we just wanted to give you this little dose of #hotcontent to hold you over until the next podcast. I mean don't get us wrong, though, this is still probably one of the best podcasts we've ever done. We just didn't add as many drops and sound effects and stuff. But we're pros at this point so the material is as fresh as ever. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff, and thank you to our listeners around the globe for tuning in. I think the real fans will really enjoy this episode. #MUGSCOMINGSOON

Season 4, Episode 5: AZSwaye
Live From The Red Lion Season 4 continues with our guest, AZSwaye. AZSwaye is a rapper from South Central Los Angeles. He joined us on the Red Lion patio with an Uber XL full of friends, including rapper AZBenz and producer LD The Monster (just kidding, don't spell it that way. it's LD Tha Monsta). We discuss AZSwaye's music, Bitburger, pretzels, kuemmerling, Fortnight/PUBG, what it was like being Top Dawg's nephew and growing up around the TDE studio, and why AZSwaye wants to build his own name. We also get into the history of LA rap, from AZSwaye's dad hanging out around Death Row to AZSwaye growing up with the jerk music. There's a lot of other #freshmaterial in here as well. Rest assured we also hit the classic LFTRL segments such as Street Sweepin', Shits Fired, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. There are audio issues for about the last 10-15 minutes, but it's still audible so just listen to it. This is probably our best episode yet and you're going to be hearing a lot more about AZSwaye and the other artists that got on the mic so you might as well just listen to this now. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff. And a special shout out to Passion of the Weiss and LFTRL Season 3 guest Jeff Weiss for setting up this co-production. Written interview with AZSwaye is available here: http://www.passionweiss.com/2018/02/13/azswaye-interview/. Go listen to "Ride With My Glock" and help AZSwaye reach a billion views. And also check out his recently released album SwayeMadden, which we also discuss on the podcast. And check out AZBenz and AZChike and LD Tha Monsta's Soundclouds and whatnot, too. And then buy a mug from us. #mugscomingsoon #weinherebitburgeredup

Season 4, Episode 4: Zach Green
Season 4 continues with our guest, Zach Green. Zach is a comedian, Vegas aficionado, and Disney season pass holder. We talk about all those things, including the best ways to win in Vegas, a big parlay he hit on his birthday, how the whole Disney game has changed, and many other #intriguing topics. We also hit the classic segments like Street Sweepin', In The Pooches, and the Kit Kat Quick Chat. Unfortunately Zach only gave us 3 of his top 5 LA streets, so you will have to await his return on the Mega Episode we're going to do one day in order to hear the final two. In the meantime his top 3 LA streets are pretty good, as is this podcast in general. Some might say it's our BEST EPISODE YET. This was our first time recording on the new Zoom H6, so we didn't use the computer at all, and had less crashes. Of course we still had audio issues and it's not the most perfect sounding episode, but Zach is a pro and so are we and it turned out pretty well. As Paul Sherman of the Boston Herald allegedly said about Live From The Red Lion: "A Winner, This Fourth Season Is Clearly The Best." Shout out as always to the fans in Pakistan, Vegas, and beyond. We couldn't do what we do without you. And shout out to the Red Lion staff for providing us with quality Bitburger and kuemmerling and pretzels. Catch Zach performing live at Second City Hollywood every Wednesday night. And enjoy this beautiful episode, which is truly the most well-edited podcast in Los Angeles. THANK YOU.

Season 4, Episode 3: Erika Curry
Season 4 continues with our guest, Erika Curry. Erika is a comedian, writer, actress, and co-host of the bi-weekly comedy and variety show The Scramble. She's also on the incredibly amazing sketch team Detention at the Pack Theater. Much as Live From The Red Lion has corporate sponsors such as Squatty Potty, Audible, Warby Parker and Kit-Kat, Erika is sponsored by Arrowhead Water. So shout out to them and shout out to the Red Lion staff. This podcast was recorded on the day Doug Jones beat Roy Moore in the Alabama special election. It's being released the day after Alabama won the NCAA football national championship. It's been a good or bad year from Alabama depending on what you think about things. In this episode, we talk about Dougie Jones, Al Franken, breeding pigs, the beauty of an ice cold shot of becherovka, and several other things. There was a slightly better edited more interesting intro to this episode that we couldn't upload due to computer issues, and the computer kept crashing during the recording, so needless to say we had a shit ton of #laptopproblems but pretty sure Erika and our #freshmaterial and #hotcontent saved the day and turned this #shit into an #incredibleepisode. Season 4 is no segments, but as always we hit the segments such as the 4 Points, Street Sweepin', In The Pooches, It's Kind Of Getting Cold Isn't It?, Co-Sign, and the Kit-Kat Quick Chat. According to Mike this is the hardest he's ever laughed on an episode so maybe you will say the same thing once you listen to it. Season 4 is going great so far, we're happy to be the most well-edited podcast in LA and we're looking forward to accumulating a shit ton of listens and downloads on this episode. Follow Erika @erikamcurry on instagram, @gillygal on Twitter, or catch her live many nights a week @ The Pack Theater and elsewhere around town. Shout out again to The Red Lion Tavern in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. SEASON 4 BABY!
93 minutes | Nov 22, 2017
Season 4, Episode 2: Jacob Sirof
Live From The Red Lion Season 4 continues with one of our favorite guests, Jacob Sirof. Jacob joined us on the Red Lion patio to discuss his father's manic creation of pasta sauces, Derek Carr's eyes, his standup, Marvel movies, and our favorite topic: ourselves. We basically hired Jacob as a producer in the middle of this episode, as he gave us some good tips about marketing the podcast, or at least pointed out everything we're doing wrong. We still need to create the Live From The Red Lion Twitter, but otherwise, it's clear Season 4 is taking off with Sirof Ice at the producing helm. Season 4's theme is "No Segments," but we test out some heavy hitting segments in this episode, including It's Kind of Getting Chilly Isn't It?, Co-Sign, Around The Horn, Reverse Street Sweepin', and many more. We recorded the Kit Kat Quick Chat but the computer crashed and burned and we lost that part of the recording, but needless to say it was way too confusing of a segment anyways. This is honestly our best, most well-edited podcast yet so you better listen to it. Live From The Red Lion is the most well edited podcast in LA and if you're not listening you are not in the points. But shout out to all of our fans out there in Pakistan, Netherlands, Korea, Illinois, Minnesota, California, and The Internet. And shout out as always to the Red Lion staff. We couldn't do what we do without fresh pitchers of Bitburger, piping hot delicious sausages, and shots of highly alcoholic schnapps. SEASON 4, BACK AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE. #mugscomingsoon

Season 4, Episode 1: Jude Angelini
Season 4 begins with none other than Rude Jude joining us on the Red Lion patio to talk about his new book 'Hummingbird.' You may know Jude from the All Out Show on Sirius/XM's Shade 45, from The Jenny Jones Show, from his debut book 'Hyena,' from the Eminem song "Drug Ballad," or from the E-40 "Choices" video. Get to know him better in this episode of Live From The Red Lion, where we talk about the weather, Thin Lizzy, Detroit, Kraftwerk, Binary Star, and a bunch of other good stuff. We hit the classic ITP segments like The Four Points, Street Sweepin', Shits Fired, and a lot of On The Record. Jude's book 'Hummingbird' is available now. It is really good. Jude is a talented writer and if even if you hate the idea of reading a book you will like his stories a lot. Buy the book at a bookstore or on Amazon. Or buy the audiobook, read by Jude himself, at http://audibletrial.com/inthepoints. Shout out as always to the Red Lion staff for bringing us Bitburgers and waters on the 100 degree day in LA this was recorded. And shout out to Jude for providing us with some #freshcontent on this inaugural Season 4 episode. This is honestly the best episode yet of the most well-edited podcast in LA, so you might as well listen to it right now and then go buy 'Hummingbird.'
