LHRL® #205- Michael Hirons
https://youtu.be/F0AqqWiAbYE Lift Heavy Run Long® #205, we had the pleasure of sitting down with our friend, Michael Hirons. Michael is a resident of Wynn, Arkansas and an advocate of the trail running community. At one point in time, Michael weighted almost 400lbs before making some changes in his nutrition and buying a bike. It wasn’t long before he found himself shedding some lbs and feeling comfortable enough to try his hand at running. After a few 5ks, he had caught the bug. It wasn’t long until he complete his first trail run at the Sylamore 25k and decided to put on a race of his own as the Race Director of Village Creek 10K/25K. Village Creek just finished up it’s 8th year and the first annual Almira 50miler and marathon will take place on May 1, 2021. We are fortunate to get to spend time with folks like Michael and look forward to many years and many trail miles with him in the future. We enjoyed some great conversation before inevetbly jumping the tracks and veering into ridiculousville… Here is what the LHRL podcast derailed looked like: – Swift n Swole event 2022 – Do you clip tags off ur clothes, bite them or rip them. – Amanda called Grimmace, Hummus off McDonald’s – Ted Lasso – When do you say dinner and/or supper? Thanks for tuning in!

https://youtu.be/-mRgduWotQA Lift Heavy Run Long® #204 is coming at you hot!! 🚨 Attention 🚨 2022 Swift and Swole to benefit the Chris Hope Foundation is in the works. We are looking to organize a 12-hour endurance event consisting of teams acquiring miles and reps in a fun and friendly competition involving as many active people and fitness organizations as we can find. LHRL® is a community and this event will serve to strengthen the community and include as many different people as possible within it. Get ready, cause it is gonna be 🔥. The LHRL® App has been submitted to the Slack store for approval. I worked really, really hard on it. There is much to be desired in it’s functionality but I believe it is a pretty good start and it could be useful to help individuals accomplish their goals. You can check it out here: Check out the podcast to get the skinny on things but just remember that the 2022 Swift and Swole event is in the works and it’s going to be huge.

https://youtu.be/wDelTjZNHOk Lift Heavy Run Long #203 speed round: -Von returns from Disney World. -Barkley Marathon goes 3rd straight year without a finisher. -Laz rips Camel non-filtered. -FB is watching. It’s amazing. -Spring weather is here!! Life is good -Will Fall races be post-covid-normal? -Useless knowledge: London cabbies have to memorize literally everything. If you take a taxicab in London, you can expect the driver to know exactly where they are going, since they are required to take a series of tests known as The Knowledge. These require them to study 320 routes and 25,000 streets, not to mention 20,000 landmarks and places of public interest—estimated to take as long as four years to fully complete. Sears used to sell houses. Before every city had a Walmart, most Americans got their stuff from mail-order catalogs, such as Sears. Among its many, many offerings were so-called “kit houses,” or entire homes that were shipped on a train. You had to assemble the house yourself using the 75-page instruction book. It was like Ikea on steroids. There’s an encrypted monument outside the CIA. A sculpture outside CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, fittingly includes uncracked codes. Created by artist Jim Sanborn, the sculpture features four inscriptions, three of which have been cracked, but the forth is still a mystery. (Though in 2010 the artist offered one clue: The letters NYPVTT are an encryption of the word BERLIN.)

LHRL® #202- Todd Hinton
https://youtu.be/zUqH_zW_oUE This week we had our friend and personal trainer sit down with us and talk a little bit about his home gym and that came to fruition. With COVID being what it is, we couldn’t help but notice that Todd was gaining an internet presence with he and some of his clients working out in a pretty plush garage gym. We decided to bring him into the studio to visit with him about how he put his together. On top of all of this fun we also had our regular shenanigans and ran through a few other items as follows: We finally got a review. Hallelujah! Andrew Causey got us an amazing gift basket for episode 200. ‘Flack‘ comes from the German word ‘Fliegerabwehrkanonen. ‘ Pilots under fire must have needed a shorter word. When you hear of someone “catching flack,” you’re hearing a figurative extension of a term used for antiaircraft guns, or for the shells fired from them. Most elephants weigh less than the tongue of a blue whale. If you were going to be a super hero in the LHRL Universe, would you have super strength or super speed? – Sam Renfrow If you could only eat one variety of food for the rest of your life, would it be of the savory variety or sweet? -Crystal Landers If you could live in the water or on land, which would you choose? -Steve Monsanto If you could only pic one activity between lifting and running Which would it be, and why? -Jeff Wehling

https://youtu.be/uWECtOpwZOA Lift Heavy Run Long® #200 is successfully in the books. What a fun ride it has been! Here is what went down on this weeks podcast: -The serial-review-writer caper continues with another letter. It’s Sylamore week! What is the best thing to put in your running drop bag? You could only run one race in a year, which one would it be? Should a runner do speed work during build up for an ultra Thoughts on the overhead press as a test of upper body strength What is in pickle juice that just makes it so irresistible?? LHRL® #199- Baylee Taylor
https://youtu.be/Sga8otHJSCw This week on the Lift Heavy Run Long Podcast, we had the fortunate pleasure of sitting down with our friend Baylee Taylor. Baylee is the gym manager at Olive Branch Crossfit and he came on the show to discuss his recent position, his passion and how things look as a 21 year old who is primarily coaching older athletes. Baylee has a huge future ahead of him. He is a driven, passionate and intelligent individual who we expect great things from in the future. In other news, the LHRL received a review with the look of an 80’s style serial killer. It is a great mystery and we are calling on you to help solve the riddle of the unidentified-magazine-clipper-reviewer-person. A cash prize is being organized while we hunt down this psychopath. Thanks for tuning in! Please leave us a review on itunes. Side note: If you are someone you know are looking to contribute to the production or marketing of the LHRL Podcast, please reach out to email@example.com. We would love to chat.

Von enjoys a Covid Christmas- earns PGA card on Nintendo Switch while sick. Cobra Kai Season 3 is incredible. Sylamore is rapidly approaching. Is poor nutrition a lack of knowledge or discipline…or what? LHRL Slack app is progressing. Lift Heavy Run Long needs some direction and we hope to find it in 2021. We look forward to the things in store!

https://youtu.be/3nJOk_uOjpo It seems like it has been forever. 4 weeks is a long time with no podcast. It is a long enough time for us to come up with quality content…but we didn’t. Here is what we talked about: Von still has his crappy Samsung phone, crappy computer and crappy watch and won’t do anything about it. Wilson worked an aid station, so he considers himself a modern-day saint. Amanda loses toenail number five. Thirsty hopes to match or possibly beat his October running mileage of zero in November. Big Hill Pond Walking Tall is best race event all year. Everyone is geared up for Sylamore. People who watch can watch scary movies alone are a “type”. Von explains to the world what a fitted-sheet is. Vans vs. Crocs. Same level. Different parallel paths.

https://youtu.be/taZRCAu0bQE Lift Heavy Run Long Episode #194 in a nutshell: Melisa Burgess runs 50 miles.Crystal “Pistol Landers” completes hundo.Gavin May wins 25k. Amanda calls podcast cringeworthy…at least when she is not on. Von claims the people who like orange drinks are a “type”; continues his profiling by lumping Croc wearers as Nickleback listeners. (He was given a yellow card and probation for stereotyping). Says he gets sad when he buys the wrong popcorn. Thirsty talks about the proper way to make Tang while wrestling an in-home Armadillo intruder. Claims it made “a noise”- not clear on what that noise was yet. Wilson eats box of Frosted Flakes and shares the experience. Correct way to mix Hershey syrup with milk? Boulillion cubes in place of snuff. Should they used at aid stations with hot water? https://youtu.be/qHkgukf_YF0 Lift Heavy Run Long® #193, y’all ready? Here we go: Fortitude 25/50k. Von had a Samsung phone for 30 days. They want $300 to replace and claim it has water damage. (Shoulda stuck with iPhone). The Social Project and the future of the world. Amanda couldn’t join us and it showed. Thirsty argued that mashed potatoes n gravy were called “gravy and mashed potatoes”. Who argues that? Wilson resolved resentment with Panera Bread via Twitter. Will Sylamore 2021 registration happen this year? Von’s training with Can’t Stop Endurance. We will be back in 2 weeks. Thanks for listening!

LHRL® # 191
https://youtu.be/VM1i3Fl-upc Mannnnnnn……it’s good to be back with my people. We have been off for a while. Oh well, life happens, it could be a whole lot worse. This week on the Lift Heavy Run Long Podcast: We are all getting geared up for Big Hill Pond Walking Tall in October. Amanda and went to visit Brushy Mountain Penitentiary and it was awesome. Von’s son, Jackson, hates playing football but the only problem is….he is really good at it. Our son Grayson is enjoying Cross-Country and doesn’t think his dad is capable of speaking to grown-ups. Amandas got her some New Balance shoes and she is a new woman Thirsty gives Von a hard time for wearing a tee-shirt that he doesn’t know the meaning of. The origin of “Jones-ing” and “Bogart-ing” We will be back in a couple of weeks and ready to get into a regular routine!

https://youtu.be/44ye23Au560 Lift Heavy Run Long® #190 in full force. He we go: Von says do ditch social media altogether. Amanda has no use for it. Thirsty doesn’t even has Facebook on his phone. Wilson still enjoys it…kinda. Garmin has been hit with ransomware and most of us think that Swanson is responsible. We discuss how we THINK it works and how it should be handled. We also talk about why things like Garmin and posting on social media is important. As usual, we don’t follow any real path but the conversation is always entertaining, light-hearted.

LHRL® #189 with Nugget Johnson
https://youtu.be/6F53PJLNnTI On the Lift Heavy Run Long® Podcast #189 we had our old friend Nugget Johnson. Nugget is back in the United States after spending some time as a radio DJ in Dubai. We wanted to sit down with Nugget and talk about….nothing in particular. That is why we like him so much. He is an interesting, funny, and engaging guy who makes us all laugh. My favorite thing about the LHRL podcast is its lack of direction. I enjoy getting with friends to talk about whatever it is that we feel like discussing. I doubt that you will find this podcast any more or any less educational than the others but we hope that you find some enjoyment in it, nonetheless.

https://youtu.be/gGB4dzdo334 We are back in the saddle with Lift Heavy Run Long® #188. Here is a rundown of how this shook out: Amanda is back regular at Olive Branch CrossFit and pretty she will not survive after tonight’s workout. Von constructs his COVID-free trust circle of friends and we all want to be on the list. Thirsty covers himself in poison oak after doing yardwork against Katie’s better advice. Wilson had a sore throat…which he decided was COVID…then had a leaking CPAP drying out his eyes…which he googled to be pink-eye…then WebMD said that 1% of COVID patients have pink-eye, so he will likely die soon. As usual, we derail on an unrelated topic. This week was COVID as if you don’t already hear enough about that. However, if you listen to us regularly, you go into it knowing that we are probably going to waste your time and you will be no better because of it.

https://youtu.be/GtsA58hkMh0 On this episode of the Lift Heavy Run Long® Podcast, we went deeper than usual. Here is how it went down: Daniela Krauss clarified that “double pepperoni” is more than “extra pepperoni”, so remember that. Katie Maxwell was rightfully offended that Beefcake was bold enough to refer to microwave bologna as fried bologna when clearly that was in error. Big Thirsty wants to know exactly how much of a tip is required to actually get the pizza people to double the amount of pepperoni’s added. Jacked and Tan feels sympathy for Beefcake because they did not teach him to use chopsticks in public. Her theory is that he never learned to tie his shoes and that is why he wears Crocs. The Reverend is on a “Looks and Fashion” trajectory that should have him working as a fashion model by 2021. Von also verbally and visually describes what a perfect weiner looks like.
