Search Me God // Overcoming Anxiety (Part 5)
Anxious thoughts are a common experience for all of us. Every person, regardless of age, gender, or background, has faced, or will face, anxious thoughts at some point in their life. Even Jesus, who was perfect and sinless, faced anxious thoughts, such as when he prayed in the garden of Gethsemane and asked the Father if the cup of suffering could be taken from him. But, he ultimately submitted to the Father’s will and expressed, “Not my will, but thy will be done”. Unfortunately, anxiety doesn’t just steal our peace of mind, but it can also rob us of our joy and happiness, our will to live, and even consume our entire life. It’s a thief that cheats us out of sharing happy times with our family and tries to steal every waking moment from us. For some of us, our anxious thoughts stem from our past. Maybe we experienced a tragedy early in life, or were a victim of child abuse. Perhaps we witnessed a horrific event unfold before our very eyes. Or, perhaps we have done something in the past that we cannot forgive ourselves for and it haunts us every day. For others, our anxious thoughts stem from our present, such as struggles in our marriage, job, or health. These thoughts can be overwhelming and seem like they will never go away, but we can find peace and comfort in the truth that God is with us, guiding us along the path of everlasting life. In this week’s message, we continue to explore David’s prayer, “Search me, O God and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you. Lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Join us as we delve into this important topic and find hope and peace in the midst of our anxious thoughts. Subscribe to Our Channel! New to LifeRock?
