Dedication: To what and to whom are we and should we be dedicated
Dedication - the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose. (Google online definition) Each of us have our own definition and understanding of what dedication is. We also place a certain amount of weight and importance depending on the connection we have with whatever it is we are dedicated to. For example, we are generally more dedicated to our children than we are our job. If our child is sick and we have no one else to care for them or we feel we should be the one to care for our sick child then we call in to work and tell them that we can't be there; we have a sick child that we need to care for. We may be more dedicated to our job than we are to our hobbies and so on. This just illustrates the point that we have different levels of dedication. If you listen to this episode you will here us talk about dedication as it applies to the following:
Work

Family

Social life

Relationships

Hobbies
The various levels of dedication are prioritized based on how important we view the person/hobby/situation/etc. to be to us. What does it mean to us? God before family, family before work, work before hobbies, hobbies before television, and so on. Where it becomes sticky is when two areas of equal dedication come into conflict with one another. Which do you choose when a choice HAS to be made? I'm (Ethan) still working on that myself. I have so many hobbies that hold a place in interests and I have a passion for each of them but I am not as dedicated to them as I am other interests/hobbies. But I feel as though I can't just give up on them and let them completely go. However, I don't have time for them all and I need to choose. Otherwise I will not become proficient or really skilled in any one area. I must decide on which one(s) are the most important to me. Which am I the MOST dedicated to? The last thing we spoke about was "How to stay dedicated". I mentioned an accountability partner here and that is a great thing to have if you can find someone who is dedicated to you and to the achievement of your goal(s). They should care about you and your goals and want to help you stay focused and held accountable along the way. We work toward things over time and we may start to lose steam at some point and need s
