Liberation Season 3 kicks off with a return to Pontiac, Michigan.  We salute Coleman Yoakum on a DECADE of helping the less fortunate.  I will be speaking with Coleman ( Executive Director) & Emma Tracy (Kids Program Director and Assistant Executive Director) of Micah 6 Community about post pandemic service of the community &  the progress of the upcoming Webster Community Center.  We talk about much more, plus we have a special guest Josh to tell us about his experiences with Micah 6.   Micah 6 Community is a non-profit program that serves the needs of the less fortunate in Pontiac, Michigan.  Micah 6 has home grown community gardens which gives away hundreds of pounds healthy food away to their neighbors and surrounding neighborhoods.  They interact with drug addicts, low-income families and homeless people to not only make sure they can eat properly but they also extend their homes and provide them the gospel and the love of Christ. Micah 6 Community also serves the community  through  a small year-round produce store called SPROUT. They also provide a summer kids camp and after school tutoring for neighborhood children, giving them opportunities for enrichment and field trips. Jerrie Barber, who has been a preacher for over 60 years joins Liberation to talk about his years as an interim preacher and why he doesn't want it any other way.  Jerrie presently serves on an interim basis as the evangelist of the Pacific church of Christ. William and Aida are members of the San Jose church of Christ and they join Liberation to talk about their work in ministry, education and technology.  Both have spent numerous years teaching art and technology and have used this knowledge to not only teach kids and adults but to also advance the gospel of Christ. This episode is for all the "preacher's kids" out there.  In this episode my mother and my aunt join me to talk about growing up as 2 of 6 children of a preacher (Robert Rouse) in Augusta, Georgia.  They talk about the lofty expectations and pressure kids of preachers sometimes deal with.  They also talk about my lovely grandmother (Callie Rouse) and her example to them.   Mom and Auntie also talk about their weight gain and the severe health issues that ensued.  They talk about what they have done to reverse it and how their faith played a role in them taking control of their health and provide some wonderful healthy tips they have learned along the way.
