Hazardous Weather Outlook. Flash flood watch in effect through thursday evening. This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of south central Indiana and Central Kentucky. Day one. Tonight. Scattered thunderstorms will produce briefly heavy rainfall. Localized minor flooding is possible if heavy rain falls repeatedly in the same locations. Days two through seven. Wednesday through Monday. Additional thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon into Thursday as a low pressure system moves over the Ohio Valley. Some storms Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night could be severe with a threat of damaging winds, torrential rainfall, lightning, and possibly a tornado. Flash flooding could occur with any repeated rounds of heavy rain over the same areas. Spotter information statement. Spotters are encouraged to report flooding to the National Weather Service.
Flood Watch. Flash Flood Threat Continues. Scattered storms this afternoon and evening will pose a local flash flood threat, especially in southern Indiana. After a break in the rain late tonight, widespread thunderstorm development is expected Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, with showers lingering into Thursday. Renewed flooding will be possible as a result, especially Wednesday evening. Flash flood watch now in effect through thursday evening. The Flash Flood Watch is in effect for. Portions of Indiana and Kentucky, including the following areas, in Indiana, Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Orange, Perry, Scott, and Washington. In Kentucky, Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Bullitt, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Madison, Meade, Mercer, Nicholas, Oldham, Scott, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, and Woodford. Through Thursday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will produce locally heavy rainfall in areas that already received heavy rain over the past few days. Localized flash flooding is possible anywhere in the watch area. Precautionary/preparedness actions. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Never drive across flooded roadways as most deaths from flash flooding are from people getting trapped in their cars. If you live in a low-lying or flood prone area, keep an eye on water levels and be prepared to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
