LTC: Episode 63 – Rob Schamberger
This week we welcome red-hot artist, Rob Schamberger to the Let's Talk Comics Podcast! Rob always wanted to work in comics but his career path took him down a different road. Rob took everything he learned from trying to break into comics and put it towards a career in fine art. He's also the last guy Jim Ross brought into the WWE. That's right, Rob currently paints portraits of WWE superstars for a living. During this chat, we go through the trials and tribulations he had to go through to end up where he is today. He also shares a heartwarming story about the Ultimate Warrior! So what are you waiting for? Download the episode now!         Want to get involved? LTC: Episode 62 – Jim Valentino
This week we welcome industry legend and veteran, Jim Valentino to the Let's Talk Comics Podcast! You might know Jim as one of the co-founders of Image Comics, others might know Jim from his work on Guardians of the Galaxy. Jim has a long and storied career in this business and has broken more big names into this business than any other person we've had on the show. You've heard his name dropped so many times on the podcast, so we went straight to the source. In this first (of possibly a few) episodes, we take the trip down memory lane and see how Jim got to where he is today. While we touch on how he helped bring Robert Kirkman and Brian Michael Bendis into this world, we talk more about what it was like at Image in the early 90s and the tricks he learned from his time in the small press realm. LTC: Episode 61 – Chris Burnham
This week we welcome the very funny Chris Burnham to the Let's Talk Comics Podcast! You might know Chris as the co-creator of Bat-Cow, or the inspiring artist on such books like Officer Downe, and Batman Incorporated. Chris has been on the hitlist to get on the show for some time, so being able to spend an hour and a half with him talking about his career, process, and beyond was a real treat. I first came into contact with Chris' work when teamed up with Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, and to see how far he's come since then is inspiring for any up and coming creator. We also talk about his continued work with Grant Morrison in the new Image title, Nameless. So what are you waiting for? Download the episode now!         Want to get involved? LTC: Episode 60 – Joshua Williamson
This week we welcome red-hot creator Joshua Williamson to the Let's Talk Comics Podcast! I've been meaning to get Josh on the show for so long since we have a bunch of friends in common, so to finally have it come together was a blast. Joshua has an amazing story when it comes to breaking into comics, that our chat lasted a little over two hours. Trust me, this is going to be one that you want to listen to more than once if you're looking for tips on getting started in comics. Josh is refreshingly honest about his trials and tribulations and it's awesome to see how it's made him the guy he is today. So what are you waiting for? LTC: Episode 59 – Kody Chamberlain
This week we welcome red-hot creator Kody Chamberlain to the Let's Talk Comics Podcast! It's the first one of 2015 so I'm kicking things off in style with someone who's style is unlike anything I've ever seen in comics! Kody's work on "Punks: The Comic" is what drew me from the warm embrace of super hero comics to the even warmer embrace of creator owned. If you're a fan of the show, you know how much I'm a fan of Josh Fialkov's work (Kody's collaborator on the comic) so being able to chat with the other half of the Punks team was a blast. Kody's story was a fun one to talk about and I think you're all going to dig what he has to say about comics, design and more. So what are you waiting for? LTC: Episode 58 – John Romita Jr.
This week we welcome legendary creator John Romita Jr. to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. John has a long and storied career in comics and is most likely one of the very few creators working in comics who has drawn almost every single character in the Marvel Universe. This week's episode is going to be a little short given everyones crazy holiday schedules and all, but what John and I are able to pack in this half hour will still leave you craving more. We touch on a little bit of everything in this one. Everything from working with John Byrne, Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Millar, Geoff Johns and more. Think of it as an after dinner mint after a great year of LTC episodes. So what are you waiting for? Download the episode now!         Want to get involved? LTC: Episode 57 – Eric Powell
This week we welcome legendary creator Eric Powell, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Eric is a fellow Nashville native and the brains behind "The Goon." I think you're really going to like this week's episode because Eric and I get into the nitty gritty of breaking into the business when you have no idea how the industry even works. Eric is a prime example of someone who set a goal for himself and would do anything to accomplish it. With "The Goon" celebrating its 15th year anniversary, we cover the highs, lows and everything in between. So what are you waiting for? LTC: Episode 56 – Scott Snyder
This week we welcome back the blockbuster writer of titles like "Batman,"&"Wytches," Scott Snyder, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. After the critically acclaimed first episode we did with Scott, I had to have him back as soon as possible. This week's episode is another instant classic as we dive deep into Scott's early days at DC, how he handled the early success of Batman, juggling all the books in the first few months of the New52 and so much more! Some of the things I love about this podcast are exemplified in this episode of the show. Scott talks about his personal connection to these characters and it's fascinating stuff. LTC: Episode 55 – Rob Liefeld
This week we welcome back the creator of Deadpool, Cable, Youngblood, Brigade and so much more, Rob Liefeld, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Some consider him one of the most controversial creators in comics, but absolutely no-one can take away the contributions Rob has made to the industry, or what he's been able to accomplish. In this week's episode we cover a whole slew of books. Everything from Image United, to Brigade, to Deadpool Corps and beyond. We even cover the books he did with Jeph Loeb, Alan Moore, his time with Awesome Comics and Rob also shares a little tidbit of someone who might have had the chance to own Marvel! Want to know who? LTC: Episode 54 – Rob Liefeld
This week we welcome the creator of Deadpool, Cable, Youngblood, Brigade and so much more, Rob Liefeld, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Some consider him one of the most controversial creators in comics, but absolutely no-one can take away the contributions Rob has made to the industry, or what he's been able to accomplish. Getting started in comics at the young age of 18, Rob's rise in comics came at the perfect time for him. Learning the ropes from his fellow, to-be Image founding partners, Rob made many decisions that helped him get to where he is now. This is only part one of our chat and we just got to the rise and fall of the Image founders so you can only imagine what is left. Want to know what life was like as a young creator in the early 90s? LTC: Episode 53 – Mike Mignola
This week we welcome legendary creator, the iconic artist behind Rocket Raccoon and the heart & soul behind Hellboy, Mike Mignola, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. We're kicking off season two of the podcast in style! Mike has seen it all when it comes to working in this business and knows his way around it. Listening to how Mike broke into comics, and how he's been able to have such a prolific career is nothing short of inspiring. In this first (of a few) chats with Mignola, we cover his early years at Marvel & DC and go all the way up to the creation of Hellboy. Now, I'd be remiss to leave out that Mike has two major titles hitting this year, one is a massive compendium of the last 20 years of Hellboy, and a new series with artist Alex Maleev called "Hellboy & the B.P.R.D. There is no stone left unturned in this podcast so buckle in and prepare for a wild ride. LTC: Episode 52 – Arune Singh
This week we welcome Executive Director of Television Communications at Marvel Entertainment, Arune Singh, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Arune is one of my best friends, and played a large role in getting me into the business. What makes Arune so interesting is the fact that he got his start in comics (and PR) after realizing business wasn't his thing in College, and then decided to write for some comic news sites. From there he got to talk to some up and coming creators like Geoff Johns, Darwyn Cooke, Jeph Loeb and so many more. It was through these interviews that Arune learned a lot about what makes comics work and he was able to transition that into a job at Marvel! Then he hired me, his biggest regret. This episode is a lot of fun because we get the chance to explore comics PR a bit, what works, what doesn't, and what some of our favorite campaigns were. It's a different look inside comics than what we're used to on this show, but I think you'll enjoy it anyway! LTC: Episode 51 – Robert Venditti
This week we welcome fan favorite writer, Robert Venditti, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Rob is a fan who got his start in comics late. After being badgered by a friend of his at the bookstore he worked at, Rob's first experience with comics was with Kurt Busiek's, Astro City (not a bad book to get hooked on!). From there, he knew he wanted to take everything he learned as a prose writer, and make it work for comics. He got his start in the business, packing boxes for Top Shelf (see, not all first jobs are writing gigs right out of the bat) and from there began to write. You might know him from a little movie a few years ago starring Bruce Willis, The Surrogates. Now, Rob is tasked with helping shape the new Valiant Comics universe as well as some work at DC Comics. He is a HUGE DC Comics fan), his aspirations to being an artist and his early days at Marvel. LTC: Episode 49 – Frank Barbiere
This week we welcome red hot writer Frank Barbiere. Frank 1/2 of the brains behind the hit Image Comics series, Five Ghosts. It's a series that also has a TV deal from SyFy! Frank's story is one of the most inspiring yet with all the classic ups and downs that make a great story. After realizing that teaching wasn't his thing, he decided to jump both feet in to the comics industry. But like so many of the stories we hear, it was not as easy as he thought. After many attempts at breaking in, Frank turned to Kickstarter and thus, Five Ghosts was born. There is a ton in here for people looking to break in. LTC: Episode 48 – Jeff Cannata
This week we welcome podcaster extraordinaire, Jeff Cannata, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. You might know Jeff from the various podcasts he does, but most notably - The Totally Rad Show. I've received a number of emails from you guys asking about starting their own shows, or finding a way to talk about comics in some form of multimedia and if there is anyone to learn from, it's Jeff. Now, Jeff considers himself more of a color commentator, but the way he and the other TRS guys approached reviews and talking about industries is to be commended. We also talk about some of the other irons he has in the fire, and how he's able to switch from topic to topic. LTC: Episode 47 – Warren Simons
This week we welcome Valiant Entertainmen's own Editor In Chief, Warren Simons, to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. If you've been reading comics in the last decade or so, chances are you've read a story Warren has edited. Warren got his start in journalism and found an opportunity to take his editorial skills to a field he loved immensely, comics. Working under Axel Alonso (Marvel Comics' current EiC), Warren learned the ins and outs, dos and don'ts of comics. This led him to being the editor of some monster runs like JMS' Thor, Matt Fraction's Invincible Iron Man, Ed Brubaker's Daredevil and of course The Immortal Iron Fist. The list goes on and on. After Marvel, Warren was able to help bring a much beloved universe back to the forefront with Valiant Entertainment. Now their EiC, Warren says that Valiant is back, better than ever. He shares a ton of tidbits for those looking to break in, as well as stay in. LTC: Episode 44 – Scott Snyder
This week we welcome blockbuster writer of titles like "Batman,""American Vampire," and the upcoming Image Comics title, "Wytches" to the Let's Talk Comics podcast. Now, I haven't done the full research on this, but Scott might be one of the only writers to constantly have a title sit atop the comic sales charts each month. If he's not #1 with "Batman" he's always in the top 5. Scott initially wanted to be an artist but found he took to writing a lot easier than drawing. Hearing how Scott got his start with his life before comics and how he was able to transition into comics full time is a must listen for any aspiring creator.
