Episode 13: Teaching
In this episode of the Ballet Reality Podcast we discuss teaching! Teaching may sound like some rudimentary way of. passing along traditional knowledge in the world but it way more valuable then what meets the eye. Our world is ran on teachers’ willingness to pass along information that may not be available by other avenues. As classical ballet students, fundamental steps are absorbed first then skills, and after that it is up to creativity of the dancer to apply their own artistic within the mist of their career as professionals. If this is what teaching was all about then we could have just learned classical ballet on YouTube, but it’s not. The teaching is made special when we absorb not only the information of what is objectively being told to us, but also when we take in the inflections of the voice and the examples made of how to go about certain things and how and why we shouldn’t go about certain things. These values in teaching are invaluable in the sense that no matter how much money we pay for the teaching, it is way more valuable then any price we could possibly put on the lessons.
