Every idea is created, but it's not created by you.
Details: learninseconds.com/elizabethTranscript:One of the best takeaways from Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert was this idea around being you instead of producing something original.Meaning.We often feel stuck because we think we don’t have any ideas, not even thinking about original ideas. It seams that everything is invented and created. So we always end up diching ideas and chasing new ones by not starting and finishing anything.Elizabeth mentions in the book that we are missing a very important part here which is that our unique individuality is what makes something original. The idea itself is not original and we could argue there are no new ideas out there!Everything is created, but it’s not created by you. This is a very important message that I think a lot of people should hear. It would help me a lot if I would hear this earlier in my career, so if you think there is someone who needs to hear this, please share it and you can check out more valuable insights from Elizabeth Gilbert over at learninseconds.com/elizabeth

Meditation. I guess it's good...
When you have one foot in the future and the other in the past, you piss on the present. These words come from Dan Harris and in this episode I want to share couple of short thoughts that I’ve learned from Dan, which are slowly moving me in the direction where I could actually make meditation part of my daily routine.Dan Harris is making a great point where he is telling that meditation will be next big, public health revolution and in future meditation will be as common as brushing your teeth or exercise.Of course he is saying that because the science behind meditations positive effect on us is so huge, but there was also a great funny point where he mentioned that in the1940 if you told people you were going out running people will ask you, who’s chasing you. Running back then was weird, and uncommon, the same as meditation is right now.But now if we look at running, it’s just everywhere.Another interesting research was done in Harward where people found out that a daily dose of meditation will increase grey, brain areas that are responsible for self-awareness and compassion and will shrink the grey areas in the brain that are responsible for stress. As the last point I want to mention that meditation is being more and more adapted in public services as well, like some specific schools and army.Learn more about Dan over at learninseconds.com/dan

Alternative path to success. Thousand true fans.
Details: https://learninseconds.com/kevin/ Transcript:Welcome to learn in seconds podcast where it’s my job to connect you with amazing mentors all over the internet so you can become smart as fuck and never get stuck. My name is Janis and this episode we learn that making as creative is not impossible by using advice from Kevin Kellis article about 1000 true fans. Let’s go. This should take only a minute or two. This is for everyone that creates or want to create something, but think’s he will not be able to make a living out if it. Craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, inventor or fill in the blank. To make a living by creating what you love, you don’t need to be famous or have millions of followers. What you need is 1000 true fans. Honestly, you don’t need even a 1000.So, what’s a true fan?Well, it’s NOT someone who follows you on Instagram and once bought something from you.A true fan is somebody who will follow you on every single platform, will tell every single friend about you, will buy your books before you publish it and go to your events every single year.A true fan is dedicated to your purpose and your message.Now. Let’s do the math.If you have 1000 true fans and we assume you make something every single year that you sell for 100$ - it’s 100 000$ a year and for majority of people this more than enough for a very good life.If you have 1000 true fans and you have a subscription service or program where you get payed only 5$ a month. It’s 60 000$ a year, still a very good life.If you have only 300 true fans and we imagine that only once a year you pull them all together in one event or conference where you make 100$ per person. It’s 30 000$ which most likely will replace a quite good 9-5 salary, depending on where you live in the world. So the takeaway is that this mindset is an alternative path to success.Instead of trying to reach bestselling books right out of the gate or build next Facebook you can aim for direct connection with a thousand true fans. And think about it for second. On your way, no matter how many fans you actually succeed in gaining, you’ll be surrounded by customers, that love you and is the best marketing you can ever wish for.Sounds much better than trying every sales tactic to exchange something for money. Right?Good luck on getting your 1000 true fans. Original, full articles from Kevin Kelly along with other great resources from Kevin Kelly as his interview on Impact Theory you can find over at learninseconds.com/kevinThank you for listening on Episode 4 from Season 1 on the Learn in seconds podcast.Share the episode if you enjoyed it.Bye.Song used in this podcast from Yanivi.

It’s ok to give up on things. Except life.
Details: learninseconds.com/guillebeauTranscript:It’s ok to give up on things. Except life. This lesson comes from Chris Guillebau. Chris is very actionable author, meaning his books are full with hands on advice. Mostly on topics around side hustle.I’ve not jet read all of his books, but the ones I have definitely gave such impression.So.If you are into entrepreneurship. You've probably heard a lot of advice out there that will tell you to focus on one thing, find your niche and stick to it.It’s not bad advice, but not always good as well. At least not at the begining.I learned from Chris that it is OK to wander around and let yourself be on the path of discovery and experiment with different things that don't work out. It’s part of the journey and in fact most icons and world-changing leaders started their careers like this. When you will try multiple things, fail at multiple things, only then you will be able to say, ok, this actually brings me a lot of joy and seams that the public appreciates this as well so I might dive deeper in this thing.Don't try to find focus too early. The main thing is not to give up and keep trying, experimenting and exploring.Be consistent with this and clarity will come.Find all of Chrises books, podcast and my favourite takeaways from him over at learninseconds.com/guillebauI hope this was helpful for you. Don't know what you really want? Bullshit.
Short advice I learned from Mel Robbins about how to access what you really want.Details: learninseconds.com/melTranscript:How to access what you really want? This advice comes from Mel Robbins and I encourage you to go and check out learninseconds.com/mel to see three of my favourite tips from her and start to follow her in general because she is sharing amazing advice all over the internet.OK. This episode is my short take on her advice about how to access what you really want?First. If you think you don't know what you want, it's probably bullshit. What really is happening is that you most likely have decided that you're not smart enough, pretty enough or there is no money in the thing you want to do so you will not be able to support your life and it's not worth to consider that thing. But it's most likely bullshit. People make more than 100 000$ a year by teaching wattercolour painting online. Oportunities out there is endless.So. Sit down and with brutal honesty answer this question: What you would like to do if money would be off the table?Take some time and think about it and if you will not end up with something super specific at least you will understand the direction, so you can take the next step.Which is, when you have the thing, the vision what you want to do.You have to explore. Simply explore that thing, learn something about that thing, listen to some experts interview in that industry, do something about it. Just explore. No pressure, just explore.Do this 10min every day and you have no idea what kind of chain reaction this can create and where this could take your life in a matter 1 to 2 years.Good luck.Thank you for listening. I hope it helps. And again - go to learninseconds.com/mel to connect to Mel's work, and see my 3 favourite videos from her.By.
