E18. A Decentralized Future W/ Bram De Zwart
Could 3D Printing (http://i3d.club/what-is-3d-printing/) create a future where products are made on demand, manufactured close the end user?   Bram De Zwart is the co founder and CEO of 3D Hubs (www.3dhubs.com), a service that connects you with the nearest 3D printers in your neighbourhood. 3D Printers (http://i3d.club/3d-printing-process-an-idea-becoming-reality/) are sitting idle up to 90% of the time and 3D hubs helps owners take advantage of this idle machine time and become an entrepreneur.   Plus this allows you to get started without a 3D printer! Learn more about 3D Design at i3D Club (http://i3d.club/)   Some of the most important principles discussed include: * The idea behind 3D Hubs was to create a network of 3D printers, rather than consuming products manufactured from a centralized location. * The  first customer for 3D Hubs had their phone case 3D printed by a 13 year old kid. * 3D Hubs has built a team of 25 people already and are continually developing new features that aim to increase the user experience. * In the past year, material advances have been made to the technology which include metals, wood, carbon fibre and soon multiple materials all on the desktop. * There are over 10,000 3D Printing locations within the 3D Hubs network across 140 countries. This relays the access of 3D printing to over one billion people within ten miles of their home. * 3D Hubs Talk (https://www.3dhubs.com/talk) is a forum that discusses how to become an entrepreneur using 3D Printing. A great place for like minded people trying to think of new ways to take advantage of the opportunity 3D Hubs provides. * 2015 3D Hubs Printer Guide (https://www.3dhubs.com/best-3d-printer-guide) outlines the top 3D Printers in the world as surveyed by their network. * (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/A-Decentralized-Future.png) Listen in iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/lean-business/id983372999) Listen in Stitcher (http://app.stitcher.com/browse/feed/65040/episodes) (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Press-Play-1-1024x102.png)

E17. Advanced Facebook Tactics W/ Holly Homer Part 2
In this second episode with Holly we dive into some of the advanced tactics you need to understand about Facebook in order to excel.   Check out Holly's Quirky Momma Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/QuirkyMomma?fref=ts) to see her tactics in action! Like her page to monitor how she is implementing these tactics every day.   Some of the most important principles discussed include: * Facebook Native Video - By uploading video directly to Facebook will increase your reach dramatically. Rather than sharing your videos via Youtube, by uploading it natively to Facebook, your video will be seen by way more people. * Attract Engagers - Building an audience of people who like your page who found it organically, will ensure you will have a community of engagers rather than people who don't * Talking About Number is Crucial - Your talking about number outlines how many people have engaged with your page in what is assumed to be the past week. The more people talking about you, the more authority your page will have. * Understand Your Audience - Track what your audience does within your insights and post more of what is working and less of what isn't. * Keep Conversation Going - If a post is successful, find similar content 24 hours later to try and keep the audience and conversation going. Momentum is key. * Post Top Level Content - Share content from platforms that have extremely high talking about rankings. This content will be viewed as Facebook as engaging and proven. * Controversy Can Increase Reach - By creating controversial topics on your page, it can propel your post to way more people. Keep the controversy within your brand. * Number of Posts Per Day Can Be a Multiplier - Do not be afraid to post multiple times per day, this will increase momentum, engagement and reach. Not all of your fans see every post, try to post enough so everyone sees your brand at least once every day. (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Advanced.png) Listen in iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/lean-business/id983372999) Listen in Stitcher (http://app.stitcher.com/browse/feed/65040/episodes) (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Press-Play-1-1024x102.png)

E15. Startup Runway, Speedbumps & Hurdles
This episode will bring you up to speed on our team and the latest obstacles we are moving through! We are going to be stepping back from the Dog Collar GoPro mount unfortunately for now, in order to focus energies on business development and moving forward through unanticipated barriers. Within the startup community there is a term known as your "Startup Runway". This refers to the length of time you can sustain your startup in the future at your current pace. How this works is by taking your "cash on hand" within the company, divided by your "burn rate", the amount of money you go through per month. This will give you the number of months that you can run your new startup. We have been running close to the end our runway and it is stressful to say the least! We are excited to be developing a community for people who are a part of the 3D printing revolution to meet, collaborate and create new ideas and innovations with this disruptive technology. You can join the i3D Linkedin group here (https://www.linkedin.com/grp/home?gid=8316199). This community will be a discussion platform for people that believe 3D printing will make the world a better place! You can contact John to start working together by e mailing him at John@i3dcreatives.com (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/jungle-river-trails-1.png) Listen in iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/lean-business/id983372999) Listen in Stitcher (http://app.stitcher.com/browse/feed/65040/episodes) (http://www.i3dcreatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Press-Play-1-1024x102.png)

E13. What is the MVP W/ Jermemy Hendon
What is the Minimum Viable Product? In this episode with Jeremy Hendon, we discuss the critical components to your MVP. How good does your minimum viable prototype need to be before you launch it to the world? There are some crucial steps along the way to develop your minimum viable prototype into the high quality product designed specifically for your audience. Gather feedback from your audience as soon as possible and start the iteration process. Let your initial customers know that this is the first version of your product and they could help spread the word. E12. Should We Pivot? 3D Printing enables us to change product, so should we? i3D Podcast
Should We Pivot? Alan and I are going to discuss completely changing our product that we are going to sell? After a minor defect in the design, we need to consider changing directions or persevering through the issue. Pivoting has become a common term in the startup world since the Lean Startup (http://theleanstartup.com/) by Eric Ries was released. The core principle of a pivot is a change in direction while still holding the core values within the company. Frequently this pivot will take place from feedback received from your audience or customers. 3D Printing allows us to pivot and change directions with a physical product faster than ever before and that could be the most powerful part of this technology. We did not have to setup manufacturing and tooling processes in order to pivot our MVP. Product iteration cycles can happen faster than ever before, by anyone in the world now. A pivot takes place when a critical assumption is not working as planned. In our case, we had a few critical assumptions: 1. The dog collar would work and hold the GoPro 2. People would be willing to pay for the product 3. It wouldn't break. This is a valuable lesson that we are going through, so I hope you enjoy the episode! E11. 3D In the Classroom W/ Leslie Perry – How to use 3D printing in the classroom
Curious about how to implement 3D printing into the classroom?   Leslie Perry has been teaching 3D printing to kids in the classroom for over a year now! Leslie is a teacher at a IB & Montessori school (http://i3d.club/maker-education-revolution-today/), focusing on emerging technologies. The students have been using 3D printing (http://i3d.club/what-is-3d-printing/)and loving the program so far! In this episode she shares with us some of the most important things she has learned while teaching students 3D printing. Students (http://i3d.club/why-3d-printers-are-essential-for-the-classroom/) are very naturally going through the design cycle and learning the important principles through the experience. Working as a team and designing their own pieces to a larger project. Allowing them to have full control over their creative designs within their capabilities. Students very quickly overcome their fear of the new technology and take advantage of learning opportunities with excitement. Leslie is combining Arduino technology with 3D printing (http://i3d.club/3d-printing-process-an-idea-becoming-reality/) to relay an array of leaning principles to her students. i3D Club (http://i3d.club/)was inspired from Leslie's innovative approaches.
