[EP 58] 3 signs you are playing small and 2 questions to ask yourself to shift into playing big now
What does ‘playing small’ mean?  It means being less than what is possible for you. We can all get complacent as we get older. At school we get used to relying on others tell us how or where to grow, but there are fewer expectations on us to grow and develop once we leave school. Unless we challenge and motivate ourselves to grow, there’s no guarantee that we’ll keep expanding. When we’re not stretching, growing, or expanding we’re staying stagnant.  And when we stay stagnant we can go backwards, as our comfort zone starts to shrink. In this episode I share three signs that you are playing small, and ask you two important questions that will help you shift into playing big – and get playful about your personal growth. “It's very easy to start playing small. And what do I mean by that? Well, it's when you are being less than what is possible for you, not living up to your full potential. You keep doing what you did last year, two years ago, five years ago, maybe with a few new things you've learned, but nothing much is stretching or growing. You're playing small because you're not expanding. But it's not obvious how to expand, and so we get complacent. It's very stagnant and we go backwards. And what's fascinating about us humans is if we don't keep expanding it, our comfort zone actually shrinks.” Come over to https://noominatan.com/everything for all the freebies, all the courses, memberships and the one-to-one coaching – and don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter while you’re there! [EP 57] 3 reasons why praising yourself makes you a better leader
How often do you praise yourself? Compliment yourself? Point out all the things you admire about yourself?  Or are you afraid of being ‘full of yourself’? Getting complacent? Most people love getting great feedback from others. But what about from yourself? Why does praising yourself make you a better leader? In this episode I share three reasons why praising yourself is an important element in being a grounded, courageous and successful leader. We are not talking fake compliments or self-arrogance. This is something entirely different.  Listen to explore what happens and becomes possible for you when you start praising yourself more, and remembering you are worthy. “No one likes a needy person. It’s just not attractive. And there is no leader power in being needy. It's important to praise ourselves so we don't need it from others. When you work damn hard on a project, it's important that you tell yourself, “Well done. I'm so incredibly proud of you,” because then you don't need it from others. It's nice if they notice and take the time to say it, but it's important not to need it. Because then you’re not in your power. If you want to show up and lead with impact, filling yourself up with praise is really important.” Come over to https://noominatan.com/everything for all the freebies, all the courses, memberships and the one-to-one coaching – and don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter while you’re there! [EP 56] How to be in control
Do you like to feel like you’re in control? What do you fear might happen if you’re not in control? Are you holding life tightly – and shutting yourself off from surprises and new possibilities, ideas, innovations? Our world is fast. As we’ve learned over the past couple of years, anything could happen at any moment. We can’t control what’s on the outside of us. But we can learn to feel in control in our INNER world, and then we can handle the pace of life better.  It’s time to slow down, ground yourself, and be in your inner calm. I this episode I share several different ideas to help you feel more in control – by letting go. “Let me ask you, do you like to feel like you're in control? Our world is fast. I don't see it slowing down at all, it is moving faster and faster. Let's be clear, you're never in control. We're not in control. Something big or small might happen any moment. But we do like to feel or believe or think that we are in control. So how can you be in control? There's no chance of ever controlling what's on the outside. But what does make a difference is slowing down. When we are grounded and more calm, that's when we can handle the fast pace. And that's when not only does it feel better to you, you'll also have a much bigger, better impact.” Come over to https://noominatan.com/everything for all the freebies, all the courses, memberships and the one-to-one coaching – and don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter while you’re there! [EP 55] The ONE shift that instantly makes a leadership team more productive & impactful
If you’re part of an executive team, where does your loyalty lie within your company or organisation? Do you think of yourself as head of your department first? Or as an executive team member? In this episode I talk about how when leaders think of themselves FIRST AND FOREMOST as senior leadership team members, everything shifts and the whole team becomes more productive and impactful. Because you’re not there to defend the needs of your department. (Or to pump up your own ego!) As executive team members, you’re all jointly responsible for the whole of your organisation. You’re all in it together. And when you take joint responsibility, you take away blame – and start to build deep seated trust. Sound simple? Well, it’s not quite as easy as it sounds.  So what is required for this to work? Listen now. [3:04] “What's the one shift that all executives, all members of a senior leadership team need to make? Well, they need to think of themselves first and foremost as executive team members, as senior leadership team members. Instead of first and foremost, CFO, first and foremost, Marketing Director, group HRG, HR director.” [4:15] “How good a team member are you? Or are you mostly out to secure the agenda of the marketing team? Or even worse, you could just be there for your own glory, your own personal ego.” [05:18] “Together, we are all responsible for the whole of this organisation.” [6:52] “It is so different when we could feel like we're in it all together. And we're all jointly responsible.” [7:31] “We have to find ways to respect each other, to see each others' credibility, to build deep-seated trust, which means you feel like you can trust them, they have your back, and you have theirs. We have to find that kind of deep trust that is genuine.” If you’d like to explore these questions – and more – in more depth, come over to https://noominatan.com/leadershiphour and join us for the monthly Leadership Hour session, designed to increase your productivity and impact 10-fold by dedicating just 1 hour a month to quality thinking. [EP 54] Can forgiveness increase your Leadership Power and give you a better future?
Why is forgiveness important in leadership? Forgiveness is often something that’s kept for therapy, not the workplace. So what’s the connection? When you’re holding a grudge or you’re angry at a previous boss or organisation for a past situation (such as the way something was handled, redundancy, being passed over for promotion, unfair dismissal) feeling sad, angry or disappointed is a normal response. But if it’s been a while and you’re still feeling it, you haven’t shifted. You’re still stuck – and if you want to move forward and increase your leadership power, you need to get unstuck! In this episode I share: A definition of forgiveness that will change the way you think and help you to process past events and your feelings about them; A helpful strategy to help you let go of your past and release it; Why it’s important to move out of the past and reroute your energy back to your leadership; How you can reframe your story and uncover the gifts hidden in your past experiences. [EP 53] 4 simple ways to love your life more
Why do some people seem to love their life so much more than others – no matter what it looks like? In my experience there are four very simple things you can do to start loving your life more, even if it’s not perfect.  1. Tell yourself you love your life Find your happiness from the inside out: what you tell yourself has a huge impact on whether you love your life or not.  2. Be present Joy is right here, right now.  So don’t miss this moment! Something changes in us when we focus on the present moment and remember that whatever your mind is distracting you with isn’t helpful, relevant or useful. 3. Practice gratitude and appreciation It’s simple: when we’re grateful, more good things happen to us. No matter what your situation, we all have things to be grateful for. Don’t forget to appreciate all the little things.  4. Do more things you love more of the time Stop bargaining with yourself (‘If I do X, then I get to do Y.’) Give yourself permission to do more of what you love, starting now. There’s always time to do what you love - and when you believe this, it becomes true. [EP 52] When you need answers and can’t find them
What do you do when you need answers and can’t find them? Perhaps answers to big life questions. Or just answers that will help get you through the day or onto the next stage. When you can’t find an answer, what do you do? Questions and answers come from very different energy; the frequency of an answer will be very different from the frequency of a question. So to receive an answer you have to shift out of the question… Listen to this episode to figure out: Where your clarity comes from Which of two different places you want to be accessing information from (because only one will serve you). How you can get yourself into the right place to let go, open yourself up to the idea that possibility is here, and cross over mentally to the place where you’ll find all your answers. [EP 51] Designing your own leadership curriculum for continued success
There’s often an assumption that if you’re employed, your organisation will tell you ( or even teach you) everything you need to learn. But a lot of the learning we need is deeply personal and depending on your organisation they might offer something appropriate or not. And some organisations offer nothing at all. It’s all too easy to get complacent, lazy, reactive with your own learning journey. Just because you’re no longer in fulltime education, doesn’t mean your learning should stop.  In fact, the best leaders are lifelong learners. It’s time to get curious about what you want to learn and work on. Time to take charge of your own learning instead of outsourcing the responsibility for your growth to a corporate entity. Listen to this episode to help you: Explore what you want to learn Decide where and how to spend your learning time and energy  Figure out how to get the help and input you need, and which questions to ask, to help you learn and grow Design a curriculum you’re excited about – so you can enjoy the learning Listen now and get back into joyful learning. [EP 50] 7 steps to take when you can’t let go of the anger
Anger can be helpful. It can move us into action. Like all emotions, it’s healthy to let ourselves feel it, not squash it down.  But what about the anger that doesn’t go away? Staying mad doesn’t serve us, and it can be toxic to hang on to anger.  So what can we do? In this episode I talk through my process for releasing anger and moving forward. You can just listen – or, if you’re experiencing this situation right now, you could treat this episode as a mini coaching session. Do the process I outline, pause when needed, and work through it, journalling, reflecting, shifting. Listen to the whole episode to hear my favourite mantra for releasing anger. You can use this process on yourself, and on others: Step 1: Ask yourself why you’re still holding on to this anger.  Step 2: If you hold on to this anger, are you likely to get the good outcomes you are looking for? Step 3: What is it costing you to hold on to this anger? Step 4: What would you like to happen going forward – and why? Step 5: Accept what is and what has happened. State the facts. Step 6: What is it that you’re really longing for in this situation? Step 7: What’s the next step you can take to make that happen? (it might not be what you think - and sometimes what happens next is a little bit of magic!) If you’d like to upgrade your leadership come over to https://noominatan.com/leadershiphour and join us for my monthly Leadership Hour session, designed to save you time, have you feel inner calm and increase your productivity & impact 10-fold by dedicating just 1 hour a month to quality thinking. [EP 49] Leading change and having difficult conversations: What if you open a can of worms?
Do you avoid having awkward conversations? As a leader, what comes to mind when you think about, for example, making someone redundant?  I’ve had so many leaders ask me “What if they cry?” or “What if I open a can of worms and don’t know what to do?” In this episode, I tell the story of what happened when I coached one large retail organisation through massive organisational change, and I share why making space for people to air their feelings out loud - even, and perhaps particularly, when the content is difficult - makes change much easier to manage. Let’s think about: When you try to shut down people’s complaints and feelings down they don’t go away; in fact often they will just get stronger. People won’t be upset for long if they are feeling heard, but they can stay upset for years when they believe no one listened. Most people will make an internal shift for themselves if you give them a forum to be heard. You lose loyalty if you don’t allow people to have their feelings.  If you want people to feel anything, you have to let them feel everything. The container matters – don’t let those worms wriggle free! Set up a safe container to hold space for people’s feelings. And remember, when you show people compassion they will thank you, even in the most difficult of circumstances. If this is a conversation you would like to continue, come over to https://noominatan.com/ and drop me a line. I’d be so happy to support you with this. And remember, now is a great time to breathe.

[EP 48] When women brag: 3 ways to uplift all your female relationships
What happens when women brag? Have you noticed how women often connect around the lowest common denominator? Even underplay and undersell themselves to each other?  There’s a good reason for that. Throughout history, woman have needed each other for safety and survival. So outshining other women never felt like a good idea – it seemed safer not to shine than be fully in our power.  But by doing the three things I talk about in this episode, we can all be in our power and build stronger female relationships as a result. 1. Have a bragging session! Things become real when there are witnesses to our accomplishments – especially things we wouldn’t normally celebrate.  2. See the strength in another person’s pain and struggle. Pity makes us feel weak, so practise seeing the strength in the other person instead.  3. Listen and filter from love. Be present and actually listen – without criticising, judging or making it about you! Your energy matters more than anything you can say, so send love. Listen now. If you enjoy this episode, check out the Female Inner Power Club – it’s a magical space, with many different resources to strengthen your inner power, and a safe space to connect with other women looking to uplift themselves and each other. [EP 47] How to 10x your productivity and impact when you don't have time to think
“I’m so busy. I don’t have time to think!” Whenever one of my clients says that, my alarm bells go off.  Because if that’s your belief, you are probably overwhelmed, lost in the weeds and you can no longer see what’s important. And if you’re saying that you don’t have time to think, you’re probably spending your time doing all the wrong things.  In this episode we explore the questions you can ask yourself to get back to what matters: Do you stop and wash your mind clean between meetings? (Are you showing up like a sharp knife, ready to slice through tasks and problems – or are you showing up blunt, slowing everything down, doing things badly?) How much of what you’re doing is actually worth doing? What’s most important, right now? (You know the answer.) What do you need to do to show up? It’s time to blow up every list you’ve ever made (you will never get it all done), understand where you’re going, and remember that 20% of what you’re doing creates 80% of the result. [EP 45] 4 truths about work life balance and how to create it
What does good work/life balance really look like? In this episode I dispel some of the myths around work/life balance, and talk about four key ideas to take on board if you want to achieve extraordinary results in life and work ‒ without getting burned out. 1. Balance is not static. The things you need to prioritise, and the time you need to spend on them, will fluctuate day to day, week to week, month to month. Extraordinary results require extraordinary focus on one area ‒ but not all the time. 2. It will take as much time as you give it. So be deliberate, and choose how much time you’re going to spend. 3. Think about which part of your day you will give to something. When are you at your best? It’s not the amount of time you spend, it’s also the quality of time, so think about what energy you are bringing. 4. It’s not that you don’t have the time (it really isn’t!). What are you prioritising? Be honest! Call yourself on your own BS. Where might you want to choose differently? And remember that in order to say yes to something, we need to say no to something else. Are you ready to achieve extraordinary results in life and work ‒ without getting burned out? [EP 42] The 3 questions you need to answer if you want to inspire others
If you want to have an impact, whether as a leader who is employed, or whether you're running your own business, how to inspire and be inspiring is incredibly important.  So often clients come to me wanting some quick tricks and tips on how to to be inspiring and how to inspire others. People show up saying, “Tell me the steps I need to know to be inspiring! Is there a book I can read? How do I make this happen?” There isn't a simple three step formula. But there are three questions you can ask yourself that will really help you with this. What are you hiding? (You won’t inspire anyone by being bland!) Are you trying to get this inspirational message from a place of your rational logical mind? (Because when was inspiration ever a rational, logical thing?) What excites you about the thing you are trying to inspire others around? (If you're not lit up about the the message you want to pass on, forget about inspiring anyone else.) [EP 41] The most common block to trusting and following your intuition – and how to shift it
What’s the most common block to trusting and following your intuition?  When you have a strong intuition, you are more powerful, you make decisions more confidently, and you make them faster. You're not so reliant on others; you are more tapped into your inner power. It's just more joyful, and there's more ease. You can trust yourself in your decision making process. And that feels great.  So why is it so hard to trust our intuition? In this episode I share the reasons why it’s so hard to do – and how you can learn to befriend and strengthen your intuition by: Realising that while your rational, logical, conscious mind thinks it’s in charge, it is picking up trillions of pieces of subconscious information every day.  Listening to the little hunches and quiet whispers from your unconscious mind – and learning not to second guess, think too long or hesitate.  Honouring and trusting what your intuition brings, taking little action steps and seeing what comes next. When your intuition is strong your life will feel so much more fun. You'll be much more in your flow, you'll expand your inner power and everything will become much easier.   If you want to go even deeper and hone in on your intuitive skills, click here to get instant FREE access to Module One of Role Model Your Way, my inner leadership self study course. And if you're a woman who is interested in developing your female inner power, as well as your intuition, then come over to the Female Inner Power Club to get my live workshops and all the goodies.

[EP 39] How to tap into your inner power to enjoy success from the inside out
When you don't have inner power, it's like you are at the mercy of whatever is going on around you. Your confidence and your feelings about who you are in the world plummet. But when the power is inside of you and you can tap into it, you can feel your power, no matter what goes on around you. There are plenty of people who manage to be successful, that don't do their inner work. But they usually break a little (or probably a whole lot) along the way. They might break their relationships, their health, their finances. If you want to be successful from the inside out, lead for something bigger than yourself, and you want to enjoy the journey at the same time, you need to tap into your inner power. In this episode I share the three parts that make up your inner power: the systemic, the intuitive, and the practical. Systemic: you are not living and working independently of every one around you and of everything you came from. You are massively impacted, shaped, and bound by where you come from and what you were born into. Intuitive: if you want to be a faster, better, more brilliant decision maker, you’ve got to strengthen your intuition and allow something more than your conscious human intellect to guide you. Practice connecting with your intuition and inner guidance daily, until you trust yourself more than you trust anyone or anything else. Practical: Inner power also comes from your practical habits. It comes from how you show up, how you carry yourself and how you speak. A huge part of the practical piece is knowing your values, who you are, and what you are for. What are you for in the world? What do you care about more than you care about your own fear? What matters to you more than your fear of being judged your fear of getting it wrong? Listen now and discover how you can tap into your inner power - and enjoy success from the inside out.   If you're curious about inner power, make sure you go to my home page and subscribe to my newsletter so you can be the first to know about anything new coming up from me. And check out my Role Model Your Way course too, because that is the perfect place to work on your systemic, intuitive and practical inner power.
