Music Artist Desta Dawn
Guest: Desta Dawn Hi my name is Desta Dawn and I'm an R&B singer born and raised in Oakland, CA. I've been singing my entire life, I mean I even taught myself how to read through song when I was four years old, so I would pretty much say it's in my blood. Throughout the years growing up I would sing at weddings, funerals, party events, and many MANY talent competitions. Everyone in my community knew me as the singer, and I absolutely loved it. When I turned 18 I made the decision to move out to Los Angeles to pursue my acting and singing career while attending a performing arts university, AMDA. It was there that I really began to dig deeper into my craft. February of 2016 I began working on my very first project "602", named after my birthday. My EP included 5 songs, including my single "Doin Betta". While working on this EP I listened to a lot of artists that I would say inspire me and really influenced my sound. I would say my sound has more of a 90s-early 2000s R&B feel to it, which would make sense since all I really listened to growing up were artists like India Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Erykah Badu, Eric Bennet, Jill Scott, Floetry I mean the lists goes on and on. I released the project on, you guessed it, June 02 aka my 21st birthday. It was a present to myself, to finally for the first time be able to release my own material, to have people receive and feel my music, to receive me. Since then I have been performing all over and I just released my brand new single "Set Me Free" that you can find on Soundcloud. "Set Me Free" has such a different vibe to it then "Doin Betta" did, because I'm much more vulnerable in this song and I'm actually expressing how I really need someone in my life rather than just saying I don't need anyone. I'm currently working on my new EP "My Black Love" that will be released later this year! But until then, I'll be dropping another single or two to get people warmed up. https://www.instagram.com/destadawn/

Music Artist K. Nicole
Guest: K. Nicole Bio: Born Katrina Nicole in Orlando Florida, artist known as K. Nicole now calls the DMV her home. She started her musical journey in elementary school singing Gospel. There she honed her power house vocals and fostered a love for singing. This infatuation continued and led her to the street, where she performed regularly. Performing at landmarks in DC such as China Town and Lafayette Square (across from the White House). She developed a vast following just through word of mouth right before the social media boom. She also graced the legendary Apollo stage all before taking a hiatus. Life may have paused things for K. Nicole but the fire continued to burn. Back to music like she's never left, she has a new found perseverance and maturity to her sound. Stimulated by artists such as Prince, The Internet, to Jhene Aiko, Drake and Sinead Harnett. Her sound, like her influences, has no limits. She enjoys R&B and dance music while also having hip hop and soulful notes to her sound. The velvet tone of her voice and gospel background make for an emotive and heartfelt delivery. Her deep soulfulness and warm vocals give you something you can feel and leave goosebumps. As stated by the artist, "I want to deliver a mood/vibe every time I perform so the listener is left with a memorable experience." Releasing her first project after a long but needed intermission, she is more resolute and hungry than ever. This 2019 is the start for artist K. Nicole, to captivate the masses with her story and her voice. "It's never too late to do what gives you life." https://www.instagram.com/k.nicole_theartist/ https://twitter.com/knicole_artist

Jordan Indiana Gonzalez Interview
Guest: Jordan Indiana Gonzalez Bio: “I’m writing you a simple melody in the hopes that when you hear it, you’ll sing along with me.” Jordan Indiana Gonzalez can sum up his whole goal of writing and playing music with that line from his song, “Starship”. There is beauty in the simplicity of a catchy melody, and he desires to let that beauty captivate the listener while pulling them deeper still with the subtle complexities of his lyricism. The California-born, St. Louis-raised artist had a love for music and singing ever since he could speak. Jordan grew up belting out harmonies with Backstreet Boys CDs, jamming out to Billy Joel with his dad in the car, playing guitar in pop/punk and ambient rock bands, studying jazz in college, and immersing himself in the rhythmic vocal stylings of hip/hop. These many influences allowed him to develop an appreciation for all types of music, and he is constantly combining different elements of these diverse styles in his own music http://jordanindianagonzalez.com/music
