On this week’s Jump Master episode, the crew discusses the Apex Legends System Override Collection event which brings major Bloodhound buffs in addition to a new mode called Deja Loot. Alex and Andrew also discuss the addition of the brand new Evo Shields, which are quickly becoming a welcome change to Apex. The kind folks over at Weta Workshop sent us two of their Apex Legends Figures of Fandom for review on the show. Apex Legends is Changing Expectations for Battle Royale Games – Jump Master Episode 32
On this week’s Jump Master episode, the crew discusses the Apex Legends Valentine’s Day Duos event, a mock-up of a player-made shotgun that bounces its pellets off of walls, the new Octane Edition of the game, and the new teases of rumored legend Loba. Currently gold wanna shoot for Platinum maybe even Diamond. Gamer tag is MrButterssWorth on XBOX!” Character of the Show: Friend of the show, Steve Fontana, submitted today’s Character of the Show: BLOCKADE – The Staunch Defender – Defender Big. Lumbering. Moody. BLOCKADE is the master of protection. The Paladin of the Apex Games. You want to take out his squad? You gotta get through him first.  Passive Ability – Defended: BLOCKADE starts with a white shield. When it breaks it breaks permanently.  Tactical Ability – Blast Back: BLOCKADE stomps the ground sending a forceful wave in a 360 degree radius. Deals knockback and slow to all enemies caught in its wake.  Ultimate Ability – Energy Blockade: Lay down a turret with a massive energy shield. (think a much larger Lifeline barrier) that slowly moves in the direction placed. It cannot be climbed or shot through (from either end). It continues until the drone hits an object or is shot for 50 damage. Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Joshua asks, “Can we talk about the gold standard of battle royale games? I see so many apex legends “fans” upset about no bug fixes, no content, no community feedback based-progress. But i don’t see any other games doing it better at all. What is this supposed standard that everyone is judging apex against?” Steve Fontana asks, “What game mode from other shooters would you like to see added to apex? For me it would be a capture the flag mode with a BR twist. Each squad gets a flag and when theirs is stolen, the team is eliminated. It can be in a smaller area and maybe restricted to 12 or so teams. Thoughts? Keep up the great work. Would love to join you guys again to chat it up!” The post Apex Legends is Changing Expectations for Battle Royale Games – Jump Master Episode 32 appeared first on OK Beast.

Sentinel Sniper Rifle, Sniper Ammo / Mags, and Other Weapon Changes World’s Edge Map Changes Fly Together: Nathan writes in for this week’s Fly Together segment: Xbox Gamertag: AceCrusader15. “I’m a lifeline main and have almost 2000 lifetime kills (1000 with bloodhound) and am looking for a more consistent ranked team to play season 4 with cause I’m tryna play on kings canyon!” Character of the Week: Friend of the show, Steve Fontana, submitted today’s Character of the Week: NIKOLAS – The Butcher – Support Nikolas comes from a long line of high end chefs. His father, grandfather and all his aunts tried to show him the nuances of cooking, but Nikolas seemed to only be fascinated by the butchering of animals. Soon this became an obsession and he now has a bloodthirsty desire to butcher animals and feed them to the legends of the Apex Games. He will feed them at any cost…and if there are no animals…well… Passive Ability – Fresh Meat: When NIKOLAS kills an enemy (killed not downed) chunks of meat are spawned. These chunks heal HP of NIKOLAS and his squad when picked up. They vary from 5hp healed to 30hp healed and 1 meat chunk to 5 dropped. As long as his squad isn’t…picky on what the meat is made from.  Tactical Ability – Cover From Above: NIKOLAS shoots above him and a giant flying creature drops in front of him. This animal can be used as cover in a pinch.  Ultimate Ability – A Cut Above the Rest: NIKOLAS goes on a rampage with dual meat cleavers. He sprints at an increased rate and his melee damage is increased. Any kills with this activated will drop 5x 30hp chunks of meat. Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Chris Edgerton (@wheels1993) asks, “if i havent played apex since launch.. is it a good time to come back?.. or are we stuck in a fighting game situation where only killers are left?” Riana (@rianatweetsnow) asks, “What hop-ups or attachments do you miss?” Emmett (@ejsponge61) asks, “I’m really praying that next season’s weapon won’t be another sniper. If it isn’t, what type of weapon would you like to see? I’m hoping for something quirky like the Softball or EPG from Titanfall 2?” John (@maddockjr) asks, “With all these weapons changes what are your ideal load outs now? Also is the havoc straight trash tier since there is no turbocharger?” Nathan writes in, “I know last year in one of the jumpmaster podcasts you talked about where you think apex will be after their one year anniversary, what have been the things you wished they would have fixed/added to the game in the past year that they haven’t added? And where do you think this game will be at the 2 year anniversary???” The post Apex Legends Season 4 is Here! (Feat. Kahlief Adams) – Jump Master Ep. 31 appeared first on OK Beast.

His handle is Oblivioustouch, and he is Diamond IV rank living in Central Time Zone. Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Bryan Lords writes in “what’s you updated fav character? I started getting into octane which I didn’t think would happen. What sort of striking distance to you try to maintain?  being a less skilled player I have to play a bit up close and tight and hope to get the drop on people. I have to avoid distance/g7/charge rifle gameplay. “”   Bobby Muldoon asks, “Season 3’s meta, to me, was largely based on sniping. I really loved this because I am not that great in close combat, but was able to drastically increase my average damage and kills by focusing on ranged combat. I believe they’ll aim to change up the meta in season 4, so what are your expectations?”   Isaac C asks, “I’m hyped for the new rotating game modes. What if apex legends tried a 2v2 gunfight ltm. I’ve been playing MW a bit and that is thee most fun game mode I’ve ever played. Could you imagine a 2v2 gunfight at the firing range (or training ground) with the different characters and their abilities?!? Everyone starts with the same gun and health or just fists?!?!? You may have to make the abilities charge a little faster so the characters would have a chance to use them. (Otherwise everyone would just use wraith and pathfinder, oh wait everyone does that anyway!) I know this will never happen but it’s fun to think about the possibilities.   Oh and did they nerf the r-301???Because I haven’t been able to hit shit with it. It sprays like the r-99 now.”   Cody Dewar asks, “What’s up guys, I love the show, what would you guys think about the legends being classes? (Example: you can choose mirage and then completely build and customize the character to your liking, such as fallouts customization) with certain body frames for each character so the hitboxes remain the same.   Joshua Whetzel asks, “Hello Ok Beast. I want to give a counterpoint to the sbmm subject that was brought up in the last podcast. You guys talked about how it is probably the best experience to play in ranked right now in Apex Legends because you play against people of similar skill level. This I think is the main reason people want a change to sbmm. Right now high level players are playing ranked games and playing in sweaty predator lobbies and then want a break from that grind. They then que up for play apex and are in matches with the exact same players. Do you think that the way sbmm is set up right now needs to be changed? Many high level players feel that ranked and play apex are the same exact game modes but one is for a ranked status.  Thank you guys for making the podcast I look forward to it when I see it. Thank you for your time I just wanted to give one of the main arguments I hear against sbmm that I didn’t feel you guys covered.” The post Apex Legends Season 4 Details Revealed – Jump Master Episode 30 appeared first on OK Beast.

News: Respawn will punish players who dashboard out of ranked Apex games Champion Chat – Holo-Day Bash Review: Limited Time Mode – Winter Express Three squads compete to capture the World’s Edge train, decked out in its holiday best, as it moves from station to station. For Winter Express, the path of the train is fixed to a smaller radius in order to ensure you’re never too far from all the action. In Winter Express, each Legend comes with a custom, pre-determined load-out – no looting necessary here. Want to try something different? Eliminated players will respawn every round and can select different Legends to play mid-match. Explore different squad comps based on what your opponents are doing to hold the capture point. First to three captures wins! Load-outs rotate daily, so log in often and play new combinations. Town Takeover – The Mirage Voyage Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Josh Gallegos (@videogamebard) writes in, “Much has changed with Apex Legends as Season 3 begins to twilight, but most importantly is the game’s incredibly rapid rise in popularity. I recently heard a report from the Giant Bomb editors that Fortnite has in fact begun a decline in popularity over the last few months, whereas Apex Legends has in fact grown immensely, and even looks to be gaining on Fortnite. Such a shift will surely change Respawn’s own focuses, and perhaps even stranglehold any plans they may have had for future games (like Titanfall 3, though certainly Star Wars Jedi is still coming). My question is, do you think Respawn will capitalize on the popularity and increase the content and modes in Apex going into 2020? And would you prefer they do that instead of focus on potential new games, like a Titanfall 3?” Isaiah (@emulizer2) asks, “What weapons from Titanfall 2 do you all think should be brought over to Apex that have yet to be brought over?” Eric Feaster (@E_feast16) writes in, “How would you guys like to see the current Meta of the game changed or shaken up in regards to Legends & Weapons? Do you think Respawn should have cycles where lesser used Legends & Weapons become top tier for a brief time? Personally, I’m not looking for balance. That’s what makes the game fun. But I think a shifting meta every couple of months would prevent the game from becoming stale. Hopefully I get to hear your guy’s thoughts!” Bryan Lords writes in, “One of the things that drew me to play Apex was the pro/content players on twitch.  I haven’t gamed in years and I got great tips and just enjoyed watching the gameplay.   Here’s the question: Why am I frustrated with what feels like an over reaction from the pro/content players on Skill-Based Match-Making? I feel a bit defensive for Apex Legends and the product they are making that as part of it’s design needs to appeal to a broad base. I would not continue to play if I was dropped constantly into the same game as these dudes who do it all day. That being said I think skill-based matchmaking should be recalibrated or gameplay evolved to work with the pro/content players. but for me I play an hour or two here or there. That is fine with me, I’m just playing to have a good time after my 3 kids go to bed. I’m not looking to play with the best of the best though it’s fun to watch.” Andy Davies (@flashyandy) asks, “What do you want to see in Season 4? Also, will we ever SEE Season 4 since it seems it is now perpetually Week 13 of Season 3?”   The post Apex Legends Skill-Based Matchmaking & Holo-Day Bash Review – Jump Master Episode 29 appeared first on OK Beast.

If you are hot you are near enemies or traps. If you are cold, you are free of immediate danger. Tactical Ability – Soul Dagger Toss a dagger at your opponent for massive damage. (60 DMG) and it replenishes 60 health (HP only no shield recharge) 3 minute recharge.  Ultimate Ability – She’s Here Your sister briefly takes over your body and mind. You turn into your sister. Think a demon version of yourself like the Halloween event mode. Gain a temporary boost to speed and jump distance, and massive melee damage. You temporarily lose all your shields and weapons. At the end of the 30 seconds you revert back to yourself. News: Apex Legends hits 70 million players, Electronic Arts is ‘doubling down’ on live games Apex Legends is coming to mobile devices Apex Legends duos mode begins next week Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Stephen Fontana responds to last week’s Legend of the Week: “In regards to the contest here. Here is my argument: Morterblitz is meant to be a TRUE tank. Get out there, take those arc stars to the face, disorient  the enemy with flashes and wreck. He is all about making chaos and his ult is SUPER balanced. You have to stand still to get into the map (leaving you exposed like Crypto), they are only three very controlled explosions, so if they are placed in dumb spots they will be ineffective. MorterBlitz is also FULL of personality. COME ON!  Follow Up to last week’s map rotation discussion: I was thinking that each season would flip which map, with the other map being used for the special events. Essentially exactly what we have now. Maybe one map in season 4, but the OTHER map being used for all Ranked play. If they do include both maps at all times, it should be random which one you get so you dont split the player base based on which map you want to play.    Character of the Week: Doppelganger – The Illusionist – DPS Ray Smauels is 18 years old and the ultimate Mirage superfan. One day he got a little too close and wound up stealing one of Mirage’s early prototype suits. In order to get closer to Mirage, he altered the technology to take the appearance of others, instead of duplicating himself. He has not entered the games in order to force himself to be Mirage’s side kick. Passive Ability – Mirage Boost Whenever Doppelganger has Mirage on his team his ultimate recharges 50% faster. If he is NOT on his team, whenever he kills a Mirage, his ultimate recharges 100% Tactical Ability – Who am I? You take the appearance of a random Legend. This causes confusion in the heat of battle. Are we getting third partied?! Ultimate Ability – Where am I? Create projections in three chosen locations. Is Doppleganger on the roof? Behind the car? In that house?   Character Fix ideas: Mirage – Ultimate Fix: When the clones are released they do random “action” moves. Some will run, Some will jump away. Some will shoot. Some will do a combination of a few different things. This makes the ultimate more confusing and useful. Wraith – Ultimate Fix: Portals do “ring damage” to opposing teams who use it.”   The post Apex Legends Hits 70 Million Players and Headed to Mobile – Jump Master Episode 27 appeared first on OK Beast.

I think it should always be only one map at a time, rotated by season. What say you?“ Isaac writes in, “My questions and thoughts are these: So I have a friend I team up with. He is just shy of 9,000 kills with lifeline. Many wins. I have 1,300 kills with pathfinder and less wins. Obviously when we play ranked in diamond everyone is very good. The competition is very good. But when I pair up with him casually, just clicking play apex on the que screen. The lobby we get thrown into is still filtered to the best players. When we play with casually apex we still play the best of the best. If I were to play with friends that don’t have very many kills or if I just play solo, the games have a lot more noobs. This seems messed up. So if you don’t play in ranked you still play players of similar skill. Do other games do this? Is this common practice to have an unseen filter? Call me a poor sport for wanting to wreck noobs but I find myself not wanting to play with my high skill apex friends. I play a game with them and I get 1 kill, 200 damage, average. I team up with bad teammates or just solo que and get 5 kills, 1000 average. Should this be changed? Should this stay the same? I’ve noticed this since the beginning of season 2. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and how much you guys have experienced this. Sorry for the book of an email! Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Ricky Salani asks, “Apex suggestion: really enjoy your podcast my brothers. How would you guys feel if apex let you set a top 3 character selection. That way no matter what you would always be a character you prefer. Just in case you’re not paying attention on the selection screen.” Steve Fontana asks, “The Iron Crown Event kind of ruined the game for me for a little bit. It felt like such a futile endeavor. A ton of work for few rewards, the biggest one of which was pay walled. It was a tone deaf event. My suggestion is this: Sell all Items. Here is how I would price it: Base Blue Items: $0.99 Limited Time Rare Items: $1.99 Base Purple Items: $1.99 Limited Purple Items: $2.99 Base Legendary Items: $4.99 Limited Legendary Items: $7.99 Think about this for a minute: How fast would you spend $10-20 for a handful of items you want over spending $20 on ONE item you want? They are pricing themselves out. You can get more people to spend if the barrier to spending is lower. “ Character of the Week:  Hassassin – The Silent Blade – DPS Hassassin is a bounty hunter of the Frontier. He has never failed a bounty hunt, except one. Bloodhound. In order to fulfil his contract to an unknown benefactor, Hassassin entered the Apex Games with one goal in mind; Kill Bloodhound, no matter what. Passive Ability – Now you see me… When you stand perfectly still for 5 seconds you go invisible. Discovered if an enemy is within 5 meters of you or you move/shoot, or you are scanned by Bloodhound. Tactical Ability – Weak Spot You activate your keen sense for weakness. You can see what armor your opponents are wearing. (Color coded) Ultimate Ability – Assassinate You become one with your blade. For 15 seconds your melee damage is increased to 100 per hit. You gain 10% more speed with each kill. Stackable. Soon he found himself betting on all kinds of events in games; the weapon used in the final kill, location of the final circle etc. The thrill was never enough and now he is entering into the games to gamble on himself. What are your thoughts on: Best weapon combo? Best way to rotate? Best strategy for dropping? Best way to defend/hold a compound? (Alex: Causfic / Watson comp, keeping doors open) Best legends combination? Best sensitivity settings? (Alex: 3/3 or 4/3 on Controller) R99 or Alternator? Most common mistakes you see when people engage in gun fights?” (Alex: knowing when to heal and when to help finish the fight)” News: Apex Legends Will Make Cheaters Play Against Each Other EA’s war on Apex Legends cheaters just got even more serious Apex Legends community divided over camping meta Listener Questions (Tweet Us or Email Hello@OKBeast.com): Anthony Rivadeneira writes in, “During the latest episode of Apex you guys briefly talked about Ranked Mode. I just want to say, as an Apex pleb, I absolutely love ranked mode. I play PC and, before ranked, would go many games with zero damage. Playing Apex was a frustrating experience. It was a game I wanted to love, but just could not put in enough time into to enjoy.  The tipping point for me was when, in season one, I played against someone who had 20,000 kills; I vowed to stop player until they addressed the massive skill gap. I’ve been playing the last few days and have enjoyed every moment of it. Keep up the great work!” Steve Fontana writes in, “What is GOOD my dudes? I want to talk about Ranked modes. I have noticed that all too often I am put in pretty bad situations if I play with Ranos in Ranked mode. People still seem to think they can do whatever they want and it leads to some quick deaths.  This leads me to my question: Should Apex have a system with point loss forgiveness if you teammates abandon you/play horrible? I think paying a point to play silver is fine and all, but losing that point when you didn’t even have a chance to fire your gun because your teammate engaged with a squad when you didn’t even get body armor kinda sucks. Thoughts? Do I just need to git gud?” Apex Character of the Week: Deputron – The Robot Sheriff’s Deputy – Assault Howdy Partner! Deputron is the robotic deputy sheriff in a fictional world in the Apex Games Theme Park. A young girl named Olga reprogr ammed the prop to be an exquisite combatant in the Apex Arena. Her proficiency with hand guns is second to none and her keen eye for vials is the key to victory in a showdown. Passive Ability – Trigger Finger  Deputron can fire & reload pistols at a higher rate than most. +10% fire rate and 20% reload rate.  Tactical Ability – Lasso em’ Cowgirl You throw an electric lasso at an enemy. You pull them towards you and stun them dealing shield damage.  Ultimate Ability – High Noon Time for diplomacy is over. You go into overkill mode. The world goes black and white, except heads and hearts of the enemy. They glow bright red and appear larger. Heart shots deal head shot damage. Lastly, Hertel3K writes in, “So fun story. I was challenge hunting with a buddy of mine and at the end of our session I only needed 6 HP damage in airbase to finish off one of my weeklies. Easy right? Well we dropped there 3 straight matches and NOBODY else came with and the circle never closed near us. I was going to just call it a night and save the challenge for another time when my buddy pulled a rabbit out of his hat. Have you guys ever heard of “fishing?” Apparently it’s a tactic that some streamers use to try and rack up more kills. Basically you just fire your gun like you are shooting at another team and thirsty fools will start heading your way. So we start having a fake fight with each other for about 5 minutes (our third must’ve thought we were insane). But low and behold right before the circle started closing a team came pushing ALLLLLL the way from bunker at us. Needless to say we had the high ground and took them all out when they were shocked to discover they were NOT a third party. It was one of the most hilarious yet 200 IQ moments of my apex career. And after nearly getting out of the circle alive, we ended up finishing 2nd (our random quit during that firefight when he was knocked). So if you are ever desperate for action, or needing to do kills or damage in an area for challenge; sit back, relax, crack open a beer, and start fishing” The post Our Favorite Tactics for Apex Legends – Jump Master Episode 20 appeared first on OK Beast.

Been a great season 2 so far! Question for you: Do you think the changes to the battle pass rewards go far enough? I still get bummed getting those season wins tags. Character Concept of the Week: Pack Rat – The Collector – Scout Short and stout, Pack Rat loves…things. The more he can get his hands on, the better. At first his obsession started by collecting items left behind from fellow audience members of the King’s Canyon, but soon he found himself scavenging the canyon itself. This eventually lead him to entering himself in the competition. More is more…and he needs it. All of it.  Passive Ability – Pack Rat Pack Rat can carry 20% more ammo, syringes, and shield cells. Tactical Ability – A Keen Eye for Treasure Scan the area to reveal items.  Ultimate Ability – Give me MORE Scan relays (like PATHFINDER) to reveal the next care package locations.
