Melissa Colonna born and raised in Chicago, IL but has lived in Denver, Colorado area for the last 8 years.  She lives with her husband, Don, their two young boys, and two high energy dogs. Nathan is 4 and Nolan is 2 years old. Melissa currently works in the aviation industry in Quality Assurance. She loves exploring the Rockies through hiking and cross-country skiing. She developed breast cancer in October 2021 at the age of 38 and was already stage 4 at the initial diagnosis. She enjoys sharing the knowledge she’s learned through her diagnosis and treatment in the hopes that it will help others. In this episode we discuss my appotinment with my oncologist regarding my hormone blocking meds.  When you've dealt with a hormone positve breast cancer you are typically recommended and AI or tamoxifen for the next 5 to 10 years, which can come with not so fun side effects.  BUT after my appointment I was reminded of the characterisitcs of my specific tumor and have made my decision.
