In response to an academic assignment todays' podcast is regarding cognitive decline as we age, and a tentative campaign for seniors in adult care facilities that are facing just that.   Today's topic includes some practical suggestions that may help.

Job was a very righteous man of God; even the Lord said so Himself. Job respected people, he took care of his children, and he was seen as a wise and Godly leader in his community. Like Enoch, Job was a man that walked with the Lord. Daily. He knew God personally as Eloah, and tried to demonstrate God in all his ways. Through the eyes of a wife, I wrote THE JOB 29 MAN as a devotional to pray for our husbands; because to me Job 29 is for men what Proverbs 31 is for women. Marriage is honorable in all things and is not to be taken lightly. But the GREAT thing about Scripture is that it's not gendered specific. So as we go through this devotional, know that YOU - married or unmarried, male or female - can pray these verses for yourself, or stand in proxy for someone that the Lord would place on your heart. Know that your prayers WILL prevail. As I successfully endure a bout with a cold, my good friend and woman of faith, Karla M., is stepping in today. When we are overwhelmed by our circumstances, we often think that we are alone. After all, no one else can possibly be going through what we are experiencing; however, we are never alone. Many of us have experienced being in a dark pit, going through the fire or drowning in the raging waters. However you choose to describe what you are experiencing, it is a place you desperately need out of. I know exactly where you are and I know who can direct you to the other side. His name is Jesus.

These are just some of the truths I’ve gleaned from this first podcast season of 2020, Back to Basics. I’d love to know yours. Thank you for journeying with me.

You and I HAVE gifts. We don't need another one. It's time for us to work the ones we've been given to bring God glory, to perpetuate His Kingdom, to help others, and to share in the rewards and harvest promised to us. You have a talent to be shared. You have a tool that can be used. Jesus definitely gave us (at least) one (1 Peter 4:10). 1 Corinthians 4:7: Don't act like you didn't receive a gift.

Take the circumstances of this week to remind you to know your business, and to get it done. Don't falter, don't waiver, don't procrastinate. You and I have the talents and tools necessary to hold up our end. And what we don't have, God will supply according to His riches, will, and glory.

It's okay to start over; to go back to that moment when things took a turn. It's okay to go back to that fork in that road and start over.  Let God show you how.

Until Jesus returns, get active and stay engaged doing what God has called and kept you here to do.

God made you one way. Remember not to disguise or change yourself because of anybody's insecurity, selfishness, or fears. Be yourself.

As we're becoming more and more clear and solidified on what we're building and how and where we are to build it, get clear and solidified on that God has chosen YOU to build it. With your personality, with your gifts, with your skillset, and with your ideation.  He understands it all, and He still chooses you! So don't shrink back from that. Be who you are. Like that person. Know that God does! And know that He understands that person. Do what He's called you to do and BE YOURSELF while doing it.
