Ep 4 - Shareholder Activism with James Copland
Tim Howard, IR Smartt's CEO and James Copland one of the directors at Proxy Monitor discuss the recent proxy season and the increase in shareholder activism in 2013. About Proxy Monitor in 2013 Corporate America’s "proxy season" has now wrapped up: most of America’s large publicly traded companies hold annual meetings to vote on business, including shareholder proposals, between April 15 and the end of June. Among the 250 largest U.S. public companies by revenues that constitute the Manhattan Institute’s ProxyMonitor.org database, 214 had held meetings by July 1. About Tim Howard Tim has been working in online media for almost a decade. During this time he has held senior positions within Strategic Operations, Business Development, Marketing and Systems Analysis. Tim leads our management team and co-ordinates IR Smartt’s corporate strategy. About James Copland James R. Copland is the director of the Manhattan Institute's Center for Legal Policy, which seeks to develop and communicate thoughtful ideas on how to improve the civil and criminal justice system. Copland oversees two of the Institute's websites, PointofLaw.com, a web magazine that brings together information and opinion on the U.S. litigation system, as well as the Institute's new corporate-governance website, ProxyMonitor.org.
