Getting past what you do IDB24
Everybody and their mother are trying to teach "branding." They’re promising logos and fonts and colors and in the process, watering down “branding” and “brand strategy”. But branding in it’s truest sense is the decision you make that affects every other decision. In this episode we discuss… The difference between a working site and a site that works for you Why talking about what you do alone is not sufficient What differentiates you from the other folks in your industry“Your brand is not what you do. It’s how and why you do it that’s uniquely yours.” Brand Challenge: Share what you do, how you do it, and why you do it (and how those answers differentiate you from other people in your field).

I beg (you) to differ IDB23
Having a point of view is what differentiates you from a generic faceless person. In this episode, we’re going to talk about your point of view and put you to work flexing your contrarian muscles. “We get so used to being agreeable and being nice and sometimes we lose our grit and our gumption and our voice in the process.” Brand Challenge: Identify a blog in your industry - a relatively popular one that you haven’t resonated with for some reason. Take stock of their last five blog posts. Then in the group, discuss (1) what opinion is being shared by the target blog you’ve read and (2) what you ACTUALLY BELIEVE that’s opposite. (Let’s skip naming names for the blogs we’re talking about for the sake of general kindness and such.)

What “business dishes” are and how you can stop doing them Tools to automate the drudgery so you can focus on the impactful work Streamlining your processes “Stop with the business dishes.” “Declutter your business.” Brand Challenge: What is something you’d love to automate in your business so that you don’t have to keep doing it over and over and over?

Are you trying to do too much? IDB21
Do you have great ideas and yet you’re just not moving forward with them? In today’s episode, we’ll talk about: · What a weight loss challenge and your big vision have in common · What’s really to blame for holding you back · Whether you’re setting the bar too high · What you can do right now to break this pattern. “Create what you can, when you can.” “Get started. Put your genius out into the world instead of waiting for it to be ready in its fullest form.” Challenge: Pledge your action to publish something that isn’t quite ready or isn’t quite as massive and amazing as you want. Something you created quickly or is just a small piece of something. Even if it’s one sentence of an idea. How did it feel to get something out into the world?
